Great location but expensive.
Pros:

The location is perfect but expenisve and the only option in the area. We have stayed at the Scythes now ,on and off, for over eight years and it has become more and more expesive, the only improvement has been the meal options. The staff are very helpful.

Cons:

No fridge in the rooms. Loud music at meal time. Traffic noise in the morning.

Comfortable, good location and good value
Pros:

I had a room with a balcony. It looked out over the main road to countryside beyond. It was comfortable, warm and clean. There were good provisions in the room: tea, coffee, biscuits etc. I didn't dine or have breakfast there but one other resident said that they did good breakfasts!

Conveniently located, but due to size of bed, and stairs to bathroom I wouldn't stay again.
Pros:

Excellent Breakfast. Freshly cooked and a very good choices
Pleasant helpful staff
Buzzy atmosphere in the bar in the evening

Cons:

Small double bed (4ft 6in) not large as stated on web site
Stairs in the room up to the bathroom - not suitable for anyone with mobility issues

A clean and lovely room
Pros:

The staff were amazing. Polite and went out of their way to put right a small inconvenience that we had. We were more than happy with how they dealt with it. We were disturbed by bass music one night and the staff apologised and it didn't happen again. They also provided us with some drinks and sandwiches when we returned back late and the kitchen was closed. This was much appreciated. We would definatly return

Our room was above the bar and although the music wasn't particularly loud the bass did vibrate the room. It went on one night very late. The staff apologised and the next 2 nights were perfect. They also provided some free drinks and food when we returned late and hungry and the kitchen was closed as an apology. This was very appreciated.

It was a perfect location for what we needed and was very comfortable, a pleasant atmosphere
Pros:

There was a good selection for the breakfast menu and it was well presented. The dinner menu fitted the public house establishment and was very good.
