DO NOT STAY HERE - SPREAD THE WORD
Pros:

If I could give this hotel a negative star I would. I am shouting from the rooftops to tell every person I see how awful this hotel is and advising them to never stay here. This hotel advertises as a place for hockey teams to stay during tournaments however they make it very clear from the moment you go to check in, hockey teams are not welcome. With check in, you are made to sign a giant laundry list of rules essentially telling you the only thing you and your children are allowed to do is sit in your dirty outdated over priced room and quietly watch tv. It gives me the shivers just thinking back on how dirty and gross the rooms were, especially the stained sheets but yet someone is posted in every hall wall at all times pretending, lets emphasis PRETENDING! to clean just to police the lists of rules they have. In addition, to the list of rules you are gifted at check in, you are also given a bright waterpark like wrist band and told to wear it at all times during your stay which serves zero purpose other than so they can easily single you out as part of a team and police your every move a little harder.
From the moment you check in, make sure you have your wallet in hand and a deep pocket as the prices are insane. Breakfast? $31 per person for some eggs, bacon and toast. (the rink and cafe by the rink sell a much better one for half the price) Dinner? $30 a person and the food is awful, portions are tiny. Highly recommend going to the grocery store and eating from their grab and go coolers as it will save the bank account and the meal are at least edible.
Circling back to the hockey team kids; Children have energy which they need to burn off, it a fact of life. The hotel does not want them playing in the hallways which I completely understand, being respectful of other guests is important. However when you book the entire hotel full of hockey teams, a place for kids to play and burn off said energy would be a given right? Wrong. They allow you only 1 hours a day in the "game room" where kids are allowed to play with their mini sticks and parents are allowed to socialize but don't you dare even think about bringing a travel mug full of "outside" water with you, let alone a beer or you may get kicked out of the hotel. Oh and beware, the $500 "deposit" you pay to book the room for the team to use, it is not a deposit, its a charge they take for the inconvenience for having you there. You can follow every one of their rules, be respectful, quiet, only use the designated areas & they are still going to give you a ridiculous excuse as to why they are keeping it like you have too many people in the room. Every team had this "deposit" kept, not just one so lets be real, its a scam to make extra money. They never planned on giving those funds back to you.
My favorite part of my experience here was checking out & seeing this place in my rearview mirror.

Your paying for location and nothing else
Pros:

The closeness to the ski hill and the friendly staff was sadly the only good thing of the resort.

1st) Rooms were out dated, not very clean, definitely not sound proof (barking dogs, yelling kids, and squeaking floors above us and beside us) made it not so relaxing and private, being put in a pet room and not told and then having to deal with a family member’s extreme allergic reaction do to this fact! Food on walls, peeling wall paper, blown lights, stained shower curtains and lamp shade heater in bathroom not working place look like it was an 80’s flash back!

2nd) The sauna and hotel hot pool were dirty from floating band-aides, muddy tile floors and garbage everywhere (make sure you wear sandals) and the steam room was not working!

3rd) The hotel restaurants cannot handle the volume of guest as kitchen got backed up and we where turned away for dinner and we where told sorry but we had to find another place to have dinner. So we where left to go off the resort grounds at last minute to find a place to dine!

Definitely not worth what they charge

Need new owners who care about fairmont
Pros:

We have been coming Fairmont Hot Springs for over 30 years. We have been through several owners. The current owner is the worst. I have never heard of hotel where you have to request house keeping to be done. I agree with other reviews that unless owners changes philosophy of greed to that of hoteliers, they will have to sell the hotel soon.

Worst experience ever!!!!!
Pros:

Worst experience ever. Our group has been staying at the Fairmont Hot Springs Resort numerous times each winter with large groups for nearly a decade. Since the new owners have taken over, the service has plummeted. This year the Resort reached a new low as our group was consistently harassed by the Hotel Manager Jesse Ferguson. He embarrassed several members of our group by berating them in the pool during the day in front of 30 other hotel guests. When our group returned to the hotel at night he began chasing them around the facility insisting that we were not allowed to congregate in any of the public spaces or in our individual rooms. He suggested that we should all go stand in the parking lot.
His condescending tone infuriated almost every person he interacted with. I have never witnessed more unprofessional behaviour from a hospitality industry worker in my entire life. Please note, the only pub at this resort will do last call at 10:30 on a Saturday night. After which, you are not allowed any outside food or drinks anywhere in the resort. Utterly pathetic. See the attached screenshot stating that guests are not allowed to have anything other than clear plastic water bottles when they are by the pool.

Terrible Management
Pros:

A "Hockey Team Friendly" Hotel That Somehow Doesn’t Want Kids, Noise, or… People?
I’ve stayed at this hotel for the past three years during hockey season, and every year the experience gets more baffling. At this point, I genuinely don’t understand how a hotel that actively markets itself to hockey teams can also enforce rules that make it nearly impossible for kids to exist or for parents to socialize.
Let me be clear: this hotel is full of rigid, inconsistent, and frankly ridiculous rules that create more chaos than they prevent.
The hotel expects every guest—kids, parents, entire teams—to be silently locked in their rooms by 10:30pm. Not “quiet hours,” but silent. Meanwhile, all dining and drinking areas shut down by 10:45pm, leaving nowhere for adults to gather and socialize.
All children’s play and swimming areas close at 9pm sharp. Again, this is a hotel that hosts multiple hockey teams every winter. Where exactly are dozens of energetic kids supposed to go?
Rules Enforced for Some… Not Others
The inconsistency is what really pushes this place over the edge. A group of us were singled out for having concealed mugs of tea by the pool—yes, tea—while other guests with their own concealed cups were allowed to continue without issue. It felt arbitrary and targeted.
Kids Told Not to Yell, Run, or… Have Fun?
Staff repeatedly told kids not to yell, run, or basically behave like kids and were even threatened with $500 room charges if they were caught running or yelling again. At a hockey hotel. During hockey season. It’s unrealistic and creates constant tension between staff and families.
A Manager Who Set the Tone — And Not in a Good Way
From the moment we arrived, it felt like our team was being singled out. The manager, Jesse, spoke to us in a way that came across as condescending and unnecessarily harsh. His interactions created an atmosphere of tension rather than hospitality.
What was even more concerning was how uncomfortable the staff seemed. Several appeared nervous when enforcing rules, almost as if they were doing so out of obligation rather than agreement. The result was a hotel environment that felt less like a family‑friendly destination and more like a place where guests were monitored and corrected rather than welcomed.
The parent supervised games room was booked from 8:30–9:30pm for our team and our final game of that day went longer than planned so we didn't get back until later. We learned the group that booked it from 9:30–10:30pm wasn’t even going to show up. When we asked for an extra hour we were flatly refused and told it needed to be booked in advance and that although they had extended teams the previous week with no issues it was now not an option because the General Manager wouldn't allow it.
The result?
Kids with nowhere to go ended up running the halls and throwing ice at each other (not our team). This was entirely preventable, and the hotel created the problem by refusing to be flexible. When we tried putting our kids in a room to keep them contained, we were almost immediately told they were “too loud” and needed to leave the room or face eviction. So the hotel doesn’t want kids in the halls, doesn’t want them in the pool, doesn’t want them in the games room, and doesn’t want them in their own rooms either.
By trying to control every aspect of guest behavior, the hotel actually creates more disruption. Instead of offering reasonable spaces and hours for families, they shut everything down early and then seem shocked when kids have nowhere to go.
After three years of giving this hotel the benefit of the doubt, I can confidently say: I won’t be staying here again.
The hotel may claim to welcome hockey teams, but their rules, tone, and approach make it clear they don’t actually want kids around—and they certainly don’t want parents to have a place to relax or socialize.
Until they rethink their approach, families and teams are better off staying at Copper Point they actually understand what hosting groups requires.

Terrible experience
Pros:

The staff at the restaurant provided good service. Aside from that, it was a terrible experience.

Cons:

Starting with the location. Far from everything, with no infrastructure in nearby towns for simple things like breakfast, lunch, or dinner at a good restaurant.
The hotel is stuck in time. It was probably good in the 80s. Now it's dilapidated. The lack of care for everything in this hotel is evident.
Only 1 of the 3 restaurants was open, and this wasn't mentioned when I made the reservation. It was my wife's birthday, and we went to the Antlers restaurant, and to our surprise, we were given the menu from the Bears Paw Bar. Disappointing. The waiter explained that the Antlers restaurant only operates in the summer.
I tried to look at other options in nearby towns, but everything closed early, and there wouldn't be enough time. A terrible experience that will forever negatively mark our memories.
Regarding the pools, the disregard for cleanliness and customer experience is unbelievable. It looked more like a communal hot tub. Disappointing.
I do not recommend it and it is not worth the price I paid. I would pay double to be able to go back in time and choose a better option for my wife.
