Old hotel but staff good. An AMAZING view from the rooms. Breakfast was a prepared rice meal with no choice. Would use again
The hotel is like so many others in the region- it has so many things that could be fixed on the cheap to improve the experience. From the door closing smoothly to the faucet that doesn’t quite connect to the vanity- a handyman could improve the experience. Otherwise, a nice basic stay.
Trop loin des restaurrants
Location is good and rooms are quite clean.
However:
Warm water is not working in all rooms!
The included breakfast is questionable at best.
The laundry service is appalling!!! I can't figure out how they managed to ruin the shirts I handed in, simply awful.
And in general, staff seem barely interested in sorting out any issues that arise.
So overall, the terrible service makes this a no-go for me.
Stayed here as part of a tour for two nights. We had a room on the 4th floor and was delighted by the views of the river and mountains we had. The room was a triple, with a large double and a single bed in, with also a balcony with a table and two chairs. Bathroom was the weak link, with drainage poor and a general tiredness to it, but clean enough. Bed was comfortable and the room spacious, with a rail to hang clothes, TV, fridge, kettle and two small bottles of water replaced every day. Air con took a little while to get right and the bathroom light was flickery and nosiey the first night and failed on the second day. We advised reception but hadn't been replaced by the time we checked out. Breakfast was a simple buffet breakfast (two kinds of eggs, bread, fried rice, noodles, stir fry veg) and a noodle soup which I didn't try. Coffee was make your own from a jar of Nescafé. All in all, a comfortable budget stay.
Thankfully G Adventures had us here only for 1 night. Access throughout the guesthouse is by uneven staircases. It was okay if you had a backpack but luggage was impossible to move around.
The western breakfast was cool and somewhat suspect. The pool at the neighbouring property was small but mostly clean.
The room I was in was a end unit where the WIFI only worked at the passcode sign in the middle of the hallway. The AC unit sounded like a jet airplane taking off all the time regardless of speed setting. I couldn't get the shower to work. I had to press the test and another button numerous times to make it happen. While I'm not overly short, the bathroom counter was chest high on me making face washing interesting.
The room had missing light fixtures (bare wires) and several fixtures had no lightbulbs. At least they had an rolling closet that I used to hang my wet clothes. The room I was given had a twin bed and a queen.
Location wasn't bad to access part of the restaurant section of the city
Rooms are spacious, but they are not clean. Especially the bathrooms are very unclean - so unclean I wore flip flops in the shower.
Security of the hotel did not feel good, with poorly locking doors. Air-con was temperamental which is not good in such a hot and humid country. Breakfast was bad - limited choice, and what was there was merely lukewarm.
I woke up and found a giant bug in my room. What a terrifying experience. Ok, this is South East Asia so bugs are common... but there should be adequate sealing of the room to ensure nothing can get in.
Staff weren't particularly friendly or efficient.
Overpriced, old, amenities broken or not working properly, staff pushing girls on you. When changing the room due to noisy air conditioning, the staff makes the bed I had been using already in the old room, and carries my used towel to the new room...
A great find that is close to many facilities. The room was large, the water hot and the bed comfortable.
WiFI was not great, so do not rely on it.
The breakfast is basic, but fills the stomach and has a wide range of fresh juice.
멋진 전경이 눈앞에 펼쳐지는 멋진 곳이었어요, 그러나 맨발로 다녀야 하는 바닥이 너무 지저분했네요.
Great location and size of room. Sockets are funny. Sinks are very tall. Shower does not have a lot of pressure and it will take you a moment to learn how to use it. Be aware you should leave your shoes outside, they will keep an eye on it for you.
This hotel is fine. It’s a step up from all the local hostels, for sure, but there’s nothing here to write home about. Room was too big to properly air condition and shower had little water pressure. It was nice enough for one night, we feel pretty neutral about it.
We were on 2nd floor and there are not lifts, so lugging luggage was not fun. The location for the river is good and when we had finished our 7km kayaking trip we were just a short walk away. The rooms, were comfortable, the bathrooms satisfactory, but the whole place very tired. Needs a good makeover and would be very nice, Fabulous views of sunset over mountains from our room.
We stayed one night at the Vilayvong Guesthouse with our G Adventures tour. We had requested a ground floor room (to avoid stairs), and they gave us room B205. It was on the ground floor in front, but had a balcony with 2 chairs and a table in back. Unfortunately, there were stairs along the corridor to get to this room.
The room had a king bed and a single bed, a TV, A/C, fan, table, luggage rack, clothes rack, and a tile floor. There was no chair inside the room. There was no safe in the room, but they did offer safe deposit boxes in the lobby (a long way away).
There was no soap in the bathroom, and a fluffy blanket (comforter) on the bed, which I don't like. There was supposed to be a pool, but it was not visible from our room, and when I searched for it, I didn't find it, so it is not easy to get to.
Breakfast in the morning was included, but there was not much there (when I arrived a while after it opened).
The mountain view is nice. But we wouldn't have chosen this hotel, ourselves.
Spacious rooms with good a/c, safe deposit box, mini bar and nice toiletries. The swimming pool is very nice and refreshing although it was quite disgusting to watch Chinese guests return straight from their day's excursion in the extreme heat and associated sweating and climb into the pool, clothes, shoes and all! There should be a staff member on duty to prevent this or at least an outdoor shower and a sign that compels guests to rinse off (and certainly remove their shoes!) before they get in the pool. The wi-fi was good at this hotel but the breakfast, unfortunately, was not great. It was served at the old yellow guesthouse ninety degrees to this new hotel and the tables were dirty and the food selection pretty poor. If you are higher up in the building the views from your balcony are very nice towards the river. If your room is in the front section of the hotel, your balcony overlooks the hotel entrance area and the parking lot next to the pool. The front desk staff were alright and not overly service-oriented, but there were no specific complaints about them. Housekeeping for some reason had all their used bed linen in huge bundles right in the foyer where guests had to climb over them to get to the elevator, but all these things are people/management issues, the hotel itself and its amenities is very nice.

If you are lucky to pay for a superior room which is on the top floor you will have an amazing view on the mountain and for the sunset.
But for the rest it is very average! The bathroom was dirty, the aircon' didn't work and there were ants on the wall ...
The breakfast was very disappointed as well even for low standards!
Staying here as part of Gadventures tour. The place is filthy. You have to take your shoes off at the door so that you don’t get your shoes dirty! Sheets have drops of old blood on them, vile smell coming from the drains. Excruciatingly loud music coming from over the road and walls shaking and when I asked the staff when I could expect it to finish, he looked at me as if I was a piece of excrement and walked away from me. Gadventures get another hotel.
This place was a dump, absolutely dreadful. Lukewarm shower stained pillows and bread at breakfast that had ants in it. The staff cooked themselves a great breakfast and ignored the guests while they sat and ate it. Safety deposit boxes are beside reception and it's best to provide your own lock.
There is a newly built hotel with the same name right beside this one but it looked empty.
Set in the adventure town of Vang Vieng this centrally located hotel is ideal for the adrenaline junkie who wants to kayak or go tubing (a water sport) or for the none adventurous who just enjoys the cafe and restaurant scene.
On arrival you have to take off your shoes at reception (which can be a bit annoying to those not used to it) and make your way bare foot to the room.
The rooms are comfortable with air con, WiFi that stretches to the rooms and a fridge. There are safety deposit boxes but they are located not in the room but next to reception.
Without doubt the selling point of this hotel is the view from the rooms. I can't say all of the rooms but some of the rooms look out onto the Nam Song river and the spectacular mountain scenery in the back ground.
There is a fairly good pool with a water slide feature (that wasn't working on my visit). It's about 2 metres at the deep and long enough to get some decent strokes out of.
Breakfast was mainly Chinese food (as the majority of the hotel guests were Chinese) and fried eggs in a buffet style setup. I couldn't see any tea and had to ask for it.
Just be aware when it rains some of the floor surface can be very slippy but there are signs telling you that.
