Pros:

Since our room is located on the 3rd floor.. the elevator is important but it is not working. we called the attention of the staff but there is no action.. he replied ok mam thank you. but the room is comfortable and the location is perfect for my appointment in DFA Robinsons. the food is good as well and the staffs are polite. if given a chance i would love to stay in casa rubin again.

Amazing and awesome! I recommend staying here just for the rooms and/or the restaurant; both are an incredible value on there own.

Pros:

The hotel is located next to a call center and a house with rooster fighters. All night long very loud bells and chimes can be heard from the call center. These noises cause the roosters to make loud sounds all night. I got no sleep my entire stay. Do yourself a favor and stay anywhere else. Worst hotel stay ever.

Very poor breakfast
Pros:

The positive first: the rooms are nice and modern.
The negative: the breakfast is a joke. Even I paid more than 2,200 Pesos for the room including breakfast, I had to pay 50 Pesos extra for a teabag instead of getting coffee. The pancake came only with a tiny slice of butter without honey.
Very bad value for money. I will definitely not stay again in this hotel.

Looked better in photos
Pros:

Casa Rubin was a few steps away from Ceres bus terminal which made it ideal for my plan to visit Manjuyod. The hotel also looked quaint and charming in photos plus the garden with the fountain looked like it would be such a nice place to hang out at. Upon arrival however, room looked like a cross between a construction site and a run down hotel. The garden and fountain was there but the grass was dry and there was no water in the fountain. The room was very spacious but lacked the homey feel I thought it projected in the photos.

What I liked about Casa Rubin however was that they did not scrimp on amenities and service - even though on a solo trip, I was given breakfast for 2 persons, water set up was for 2 and they cleaned the room without needing to be told.

Internet however could be better.

Sadly let down
Pros:

Booked the matrimonial suite which was sadly at front of building and was horrifically loud because of traffic.

Pros:

The front desk is not friendly. No "hi"...no "hello"...no "smile"...no nothing. Seems like they're unhappy, and not enjoying their job. Could this be reflective of the management/owner?Something's definitely wrong.

The facility is beautiful, but it's inanimate. It's the personnel that brings life to the building. Wait...there's more, but that's all I'll comment for now. Perhaps, the rest will correct itself if the core issue is rectified.

Nice small clean affordable hotel
Pros:

We enjoy our stay very much. Everything is near. Shopping area, bus station, restaurants. Walk 15 to 20 minutes to Rizal Boulevard. No problem to take pedicab everywhere. Nice and clean room. All in all we are satisfied. You can take the Ceres bus to North or South region. Or the ferries to islands.

Comfortable and Friendly Stay in Dumaguete
Pros:

Casa Rubin is a great hotel, and for 3 stars, it certainly is at the higher end of the star. Of course, it isn't a four star hotel, so scratch those thoughts of perfection. The place is still surrounded by renovation, but that does not affect the rooms, the restaurant. There's also no noise affecting rest despite just near the main road.

My Wife and I visited Dumaguete to springboard to Majuyod Sandbar and Apo Island. This place is situated near the Ceres Bus Terminal and Robinson Shoping mall. These things make it easy for Budget Travellers to get around or even find small conveniences like food and necessities. Tip; nearby there's a Mr. Liempo, great Liempo (BBQ Pork Belly). Ceres Bus terminal will allow you to buy Bus tickets to Bias City (to visit Sandbar) and to Malatapay (to visit Apo Island).

The hotel manager is a load of hospitality, he recommended how we could shave of $$ off our Budget tours and also recommended food spots around us. The restaurant also serves great breakfast (love their pancakes and other local crusine).

If you are staying at Dumaguete City and want to go out of Dumaguete, I highly recommend this place. Good to head out, great to go back to for dinner and recharge.
