The hotel is very attractive and set in a beautiful location. However, the overall experience felt overly focused on additional charges, which detracted from what was meant to be a special stay.
We were celebrating a milestone birthday and, despite upgrading to a suite and adding breakfast, there was no complimentary acknowledgement, only further paid add-ons, which was disappointing and not what we would expect from a four-star hotel.
Comfort was also an issue. The mattress and pillows were uncomfortable, temperature control in the room was difficult to manage, and the Wi-Fi was unreliable. Breakfast offered a good selection but several items were poorly executed.
The bar experience was particularly frustrating, with expired cocktail offers still being advertised and a service charge added to takeaway coffees, which felt inappropriate and impacted the sense of value. Overall, while the hotel has clear charm and potential, the emphasis on extra charges overshadowed what should have been a relaxing and enjoyable stay.
Wonderful location on top of Richmond Hill, looking out over the river and across london. We were met by an angelic member of staff called Roseanne who could not have been more personable and helpful. Our room was clean, tidy, comfortable and pleasant. Everything worked well. The arm chair was not particularly comfortable and there was no desk to work at. The soun d proofing was very poor and we were assailed by the neighbours discussing their plans and their personal situation while we were seeking rest!
Breakfast was Divine. The staff were kind and helpful throughout. Our stay was overall a wonderful one. `
Beautiful property, well maintained, lovely seating areas, great restaurant & bar, friendly & helpful staff, good parking.
Stairs!…. But there is a lift from reception to bedrooms. There’s quite a few stairs in between reception & the restaurant. Only a problem if you have a knee injury but otherwise it would be fine. My only other issue is with pillows… but every hotel it’s hard to find good pillow combo.
Staff are really good, very helpfull too.
Everything was good nothing to complain about
Great location, very cosy room…staff excellent
Fabulous location atop Richmond Hill within easy walking distance of the Roebuck for a pint or two and the glorious Hollyhocks in the Terraces for a quick bite and top top coffee.
Nothing. I’ve stayed here 7-8 times a year for the last 30 years and like everything about this hotel.
A good location if you like being slightly out of town and on top of a steep hill with great views.
Room was not cheap but was tiny - bathroom was even more cramped.
The hotel layout is sprawling and lacks the grandeur you'd expect
The bar / lounge was a mishmash of designs, styles, furniture etc
£15 per day parking which is "free" if you book direct
Our room was directly above an outside drinking terrace - noisy until midnight
Character flu
I liked everything
It's ok nothing special far to pricey
Not value for money
The breakfast options were very good quality especially the bacon and scrambled eggs. The hotel had a relaxed ambiance and smelled lovely.
Nothing.
Great location, friendly & helpful staff
Rooms are small, which is fine if you’re travelling light, but tricky with hold luggage.
