Michaelson House Hotel

Very poor property. Dirty. Needs lots of maintenance

The property looked derelict as we pulled, when we went iside the smell was overwhelming.
The tv did not work so after half an hour the manager replaced the tv but it still did not work.
The room smelt and was filthy . The headboard was disgusting.
There was no hot or even warm water from the taps after running for several minutes and the shower if you dared step into when turned on or off not sure as cord wouldnt pull or light up, water came out of the control box inside the cubicle and not the hose and head.
I would not recommend anyone to stay here and i do not think it should be advertised on booking sites without being checked. We booked into another hotel the same evening at 11.50 when we realised staying there was unacceptable. I have invoice of new booking and would like a full refund please as our booking was not honoured and was unacceptable. Thank you

Cleanliness was very poor

The hotel must of been lovely years ago but it definitely needs some work to bring it up to scratch. Lovely dining room very clean and the breakfast was excellent. The owner did his best and he is lovely very knowledgeable about the area . The chief was very pleasant and attentive. The room
Needed a good clean and the shower was very poor plus the heating needs fixing no hot water . The bed was comfy and bedding lovely and clean

Frendly owner and staff but unfortunately the building had its day some 10 years ago and has not been kept in a good condition. This seems mainly due to ill heath of the owner.

Despite having experienced a fire, which affected the central heating, I found the owners very accommodating in supplying alternative heating. They were very friendly and did their best to make my stay as comfortable as possible.

Everything was lovely

Even though it's a lovely house, and the gentleman was most welcoming. The breakfast was lovely.
But the house & room/bedroom needed a good clean.
I run a cleaning company & i nearly did it for them

Host was lovely. Very attentive

Staff were excellent so welcoming. Room looked a bit tired and could have done with a Hoover. Also no soap at all in the room. Tea & coffee facilities provided and a nice breakfast provided at a time that suited us.

Bathroom wasn’t that clean. Shower tiles pretty dark and mouldy.

Peter was a very good host, and helpful with information about the area. Also cooked a great breakfast for us in the morning! Room was fine, although the toilet bin hadn't been emptied after the last guest. Overall, no complaints, and a thoroughly pleasant destination for our short stay

Ok, it’s a bit jaded but the bed was comfortable and the hotel owner gave me a choice of rooms and made sure it was quiet because I was working nights but the hot water took a long time to come through so it was a case of turning the shower on then making a cup of coffee while it warmed up. The breakfast was good and there was no wait for it so I could come in from work, eat my meal and go straight to bed.

The only real problem was that hotel.com paid the hotel a significant amount less than I paid them for the room and my vat receipt showed the lower figure so now I might face issues claiming reimbursement from my client. If this is normal then I won’t be using hotel.com again because I’m potentially £55 out of pocket.
