Heart of Chinatown in hotel with style and character
Pros:

Fantastic location in Chinatown and a very characterful hotel. Major building work next door which meant our room window was screened off but this was not a problem and meant any noise disruption was very limited. Our booking included both an excellent breakfast and access to the lounge with complimentary drinks and appetisers. The availability (and relaxed style) of this turned this into a great value stay. Room aircon was very effective but not chilly or noisy.

Cons:

Daily room cleaning was late afternoon by which time we had generally returned to our room and so this was not convenient.

Exquisite! Fabulous, interesting hotel with wonderful friendly staff.
Pros:

The hotel is beautiful, full of historical artifacts which are displayed in the foyer and passageways. It is very well organised and interesting. The staff are wonderful. Friendly, helpful and attentive. Randy greeted us by name as we came and went and it was a very personalized and friendly atmosphere everywhere in the hotel. The room was small but beautiful and the bed was comfortable. The Shikar Restaurant was set up like a library and was tastefully decorated. We really enjoyed our stay and the personal approach made it something special.

Historic hotel steeped in service and tradition.
Pros:

This is an amazing hotel. They are strict about the 3pm check in time, but when I showed up just after 9am, I was able to not only leave my luggage, but also have a shower and go in the pool and chill a bit. Then when I returned to the hotel at 3, the luggage was already in my room for me. My package included the executive lounge, which gives you free drinks and snacks in the afternoon, plus free cocktails and nibbles in the evening. Amazing. Breakfast is first class from a menu, made to order. Gluten free options are very good, with Cultivate GF Vegan restaurant on site. If they didn't have gluten free, then they made things for me. The staff are very friendly and attentive, okay maybe some more than others, but I really appreciated them knowing my name and greeting me. The female staff are generally more reserved. I really enjoyed my stay, and it is the first hotel where I have been sorry to leave at the end of my stay.

Cons:

My bedroom was a single and was a bit on the narrow side and lacked a lot of storage for clothes. It did have an amazing mini bar in the wardrobe though. The bed was comfy and I slept well. For a longer stay, more storage would have been welcome.

An Oasis in the middle of China Town!!
Pros:

The Guest Service Team was Fantastic!! Special thanks to Randy and Simar! They made our visit memorable! We very much enjoyed the Executive Lounge. It went beyond our expectations. Additionally the location was great!

The lighting in the room was dismal.

From when you first walk in and see the history of the hotel, wait in the lounge and be pampered and treated very well, check into room and see the magnificent antique style settings and furnishing, a wonderful experience and very different to a standard hotel.

Pros:

The staff were friendly and welcoming, especially Simar, who hosted us exceptionally well. He took the time to give us a tour of the hotel and shared the stories behind the items inside the building. It was fascinating to learn that everything had a deeper meaning, and his effort really made the experience more memorable.

Cons:

The room was extremely small, making it very difficult to even fit luggage inside. There was no proper space to store bags, which made the stay quite uncomfortable. Considering the amount I paid, I don’t feel it offered good value for money at all. Our TV wasn’t working, so we contacted reception and a staff member was sent to assist. However, upon arrival, there was a noticeable smell of alcohol on his breath, which made us uncomfortable, so we chose not to proceed with the assistance.

Additionally, there were multiple occasions where staff knocked only once and then used a master key to enter the room. Fortunately, we had the chain lock in place. This was extremely concerning, as it did not feel like our privacy was being properly respected.

A lovely historic building in a great area.
Pros:

Lovely historic building with loads of atmosphere. Wonderful staff.

Cons:

The hotel overall was quite dark inside and it was unfortunate as there were many documents on display in the corridors but the lighting was so dim we could not read them. Our room was very small and dark due to the shutters outside to protect the building from the he construction site right next door.

Tiny, tiny rooms spoilt the stay.
Pros:

The bar, restaurant and lobby look great - just what we wanted. The location is also superb- near Maxwell MRT and food court.

Cons:

We had a loft room away from the construction so that didn’t bother us at all. It’s the size of the room that’s the problem. If you have any luggage whatsoever you’ll struggle. There is a double wardrobe but one side is the minibar (£70 1/2 bottle of gin anyone??) and the other side is the safe, robes and ironing board. Which just leaves the one shelf which you end up using to store the pointless ornamental cushions as there’s no space on the floor as there is no floor.

The location was excellent and after being relocated to another room after checking in the accommodation was very good and breakfast was exceptional

Cons:

We had difficulty in locating the hotel due to the very small outside the building
There was construction work taking place next door which goes on until 10.00 pm
We were originally given a room on the 4th but the lifts only go to the 3rd floor, the only window in the room was a skylight in the bathroom, we told reception we were not happy with the allocation of room especially as the photos on booking.com showed a room with windows in the bedroom.
They immediately moved us to another room on the first floor which was much better.
