Hotel closed down
Pros:

I arrived at this hotel only to find that it was closed down due to health and safety issues i was not notified of this which left me 200 miles from home with no place to stay.

Work in progress
Pros:

We have an annual dinner in Crewe and it is getting harder and harder to find a hotel that can cater for us - so this year we ended up at The Royal. It was not as bad as I had feared - thankfully I hadn’t read these reviews! We had a meal (34 of us) and I have to say it was excellent - much better than I had imagined. The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful. The function room was interesting but perfectly suitable. Unfortunately the bar in the function room couldn’t be used - I think the pumps had been left a long time and the beer/lager was undrinkable but not a problem as there is a public bar just down the corridor. The public bar is interesting - or some of the clients are.
In terms of the room, it was warm and fairly clean. A bit dated, but everything you need and big. Same with the bathroom. No curtain to the frosted glass window in the bathroom which I could imagine would worry some people. The bedding wasn’t brilliant and that combined with the room being on the front of the hotel next to the Nantwich Road many I didn’t sleep.
Breakfast looked ok, but I don’t bother.
Looks like the team are trying hard and suspect given a chance, they may turn it around.

Awful
Pros:

We and our team were working in Crewe and booked 5 rooms for a 2 night stay. The rooms were NOTHING like advertised on their website. They were dated, with several broken elements, not to name broken bathroom handles which were sharp and actually ripped my clothes (room 31 to be precise). One of the rooms, our staff noted a strange smell. upon further investigation, there was an old pizza box on top of the wardrobe, covered in dusted with mouldy pizza inside. The sockets in our room, in particular, was dangerous. They were faulty and covered in masking tape. The extractor fan did not work. Two of our staff had floods from the rooms above, through the bathroom light (a severe electrical/fire risk). When these were reported, the staff came to the room, saw the flood and just walked away with no explanation or apology. We had to use the room bin to collect the water. The tap in our room had a constant drip. Road noise is problematic as is rooms on the first floor. One of our staff was placed on the first floor and couldn't sleep from the bass from the ground floor bar. We had to stay an extra night and was accused of not paying despite showing them proof, direct from from our bank. This was later rectified and finally an apology about something. All I would say, is look at Trust Pilot as these seem to be very accurate reviews. There have been lots of Google reviews left over months, with the management saying they will look at the issues. Clearly this is just words as our experience, across 5 rooms, demonstrated that actions are not being taken. We have not had a single apology from this hotel. The rooms are old, broken and have severe health and safety issues - STAY AWAY!

A bit shabby
Pros:

The main building is impressive, as was the room at first glance but cleanliness was poor and everything looked a bit shabby. If it’s just for one night, it might suffice and it was pretty cheap. Staff were friendly and efficient.

Disappointing.
Pros:

Photos of rooms are misleading. Rooms were very run down and furniture old. Did not match the pictures when booking. Had no towels in the room when we arrived, and toilet repeatedly flooded anytime it was flushed. Very little amenities and quite dingy. Very disappointing visit, would not stay here again.

Abysmal left after 5 hours
Pros:

Very good central location for Crewe Station and plenty of places to eat. Room a good size but very dated decor and window would not shut so all of the noise from the very busy street directly below the window could not be shut out and would be very busy at weekends at night as the hotel is above a pub. Towels threadbare and faeces in the toilet, a pubic hair in the bath as well so not entirely clean. Toiletries, tea and coffee provided. Bed made ominous spring noise when I sat on it and burn in carpet. Tv has good channels. However I did not stay the night as I had an overwhelming feeling of being unsafe and I left after 5 hours. Plenty of parking but needs better lighting. I would not recommend this hotel.

FREEZING COLD
Pros:

The room itself was tidy and clean👍 However, the shower did not work properly - the flow was weak AND the water was FREEZING!!!! I only stayed for one night - and so I simply informed the Reception when I was leaving (I made do).

Reception were polite, but there was no (part) refund offered.

I left disappointed.

A comfortable and quiet hotel
Pros:

I had a really comfortable and quiet stay. It was very close to the train station and local amenities. I was pleased with it being a budget hotel but also exceeding my expectations. The staff were super friendly and made my stay great. A*

Not as advertised, appalling customer service and terrible rooms.
Pros:

Stayed for one night out of a booked 14 nights for work. Despite all the below problems the hotel have kept the full cost of 14 nights, and refuse to answer my emails.

Issues documented were;

• No WI-FI which Alex would need to send the daily report and to communicate with the office/ home
• Shower head was broken and wouldn’t stay in the holder without falling (see end of the video clip)
• No water pressure in the shower and the temperature was freezing or boiling
• Shower was also leaking as per the photo
• No aircon as advertised
• Room was not very clean
• No evening meal available (see extract taken from their website saying the kitchen is open 5-8pm)

 They were happy to take the £25 per day for an evening meal and get it from the kebab shop across the road.
 Offered alcohol as a substitute for the £25 per day.

Good location - needs to attend to some minor fail
Pros:

Very good access to railway station and large, comfortable room with good wifi. Let down by tea/milk not being provided on first night - given on request, complimentary biscuits only on second night. I reported the bathroom strip light/shaver socket as not working on the first night and was assured it would be fixed the next day - it wasn't. The music from the nearby Bar might be unwelcome but finished by 10pm on Wed. night - may finish later Fri/Sat.

Pros:

The location is very central and convenient for Crewe railway station and plenty of places to eat nearby. Nice big car park at the back with free parking but needs better lighting at night. The hotel itself is very dark and grim and dated with peeling/damp wallpaper at the top of the stairs. There is no lift but it isn’t advertised as has been pointed out previously. The room had a big burn on the carpet and the window wouldn’t shut so all the noise from the busy road below can’t be shut out. It would be a nightmare at the weekends as there is a busy pub next door and takeaways. The bedside lamp had nowhere to plug in and the bed made an ominous spring noise when I sat on it. There was excrement in the toilet and the towels were threadbare with holes in them. The TV worked, there were toiletries and tea and coffee in the room. The hot water takes 5 minutes to come through, I had a shower with someone else’s pubic hair so not very clean. The worst thing was that I had an overwhelming feeling of being unsafe that I couldn’t shake and I left after 5 hours to sleep on someone’s settee in a safe place. There needs to be investment and modernisation. The staff were nice enough but didn’t offer a refund or ask for further feedback when I left early although I said the room was not to my standard. I would not recommend staying here unless there is a significant improvement in the safety, cleanliness and standard of accommodation in general.

Pros:

Location wise this was great but that was it's only plus.
Room very basic and separate bathroom was a pain.
Biggest pain, though, was cold shower.

Royal hotel
Pros:

Really helpful receptionist. Had a drama with the tv not working in my room and got moved to another room with en-suite.
Only niggle, if I had stayed in the original room on 1st floor, over the bar, my musical appreciation would have been tested a tad due to the volume. Other than that, no dramas.
