We recently stayed at The State and I should first say that the location and the staff are great. The lobby, restaurant, and basic amenities are also quite good. If the room isn't that important to you, by all means, The State has a lot going for it. The problem, for us at least, was the room. "Spartan chic" maybe? There is virtually no furniture and the combo "desk" / dresser top is about 12 inches deep from the wall and already cluttered with the coffee maker, ice bucket set, and other mess the hotel puts there. You basically have nowhere to put anything. There is no closet - but a cut-out closet-space set into the wall with a single bar hanger . . . on which we were generously supplied with three hangers. Most of the closet space is filled by the safe, so if you have to hang anything with length (dress, pants, etc.) they're probably going to be resting on the safe. The bathroom isn't much better, you definitely can't have two people in there at the same time - and shelf space is at a bare minimum. Lastly, we found the bed in our room quite uncomfortable, and our room (probably not all like this) was near some outdoor lights that never go off . . . so we were stuffing towels into the gaps at the top of the curtain bar to cut down on the light. Sleeping was difficult and we chose to leave early. There is nothing luxury about it and it even struggles with comfortable to be honest. We came to the conclusion that it is substantially overrated, unless people just don't care about these things when it comes to staying in a downtown hotel room.
When you’re looking for an amazing hip hotel with a diverse, happy staff and great vibe, look no further than the State Hotel.
Centrally located near Pike’s Place, there’s music and views and food aplenty. Yes, the area is touristy but Seattle is easy to bike around and explore the wonderful variety the city has to offer.
Nice hotel, small rooms with no view
No daylight

Location couldn't be better, steps from Pike's Market; the rooms are modern and clean. They can arrange a transfer to the airport or cruise port at your convenience. It works very well!
Brigitte, Nadir, and Evan are rock stars in customer service !
The location of the hotel was perfect for visiting the market. The rooms were very clean. The whole staff in general was great. We definitely will be back
Schönes Zimmer.
Richtig gutes Bad. Eine Dusche wo Wasser mit Druck und warm aus dem Duschkopf kommt
Everything we needed was available and an easy walk to things we wanted to see. We just wished we could have stayed longer.
We had a room with no view but we weren’t in it that much and there’s a terrace on the 8th floor which was nice and we met a nice couple.
The location could not be any better, right downtown a block from Pike Market. The views (if you get a room with a water view) are stunning, the customer service was welcoming and helpful and the hotel is beautifully designed.
Good location
Room is small
Stayed 2 nights before our cruise. Hotel was very clean and comfortable. Rooms on the smaller side, but the location was perfect. 1 block off Pike's Market. If you forget something, no worries, Target was 1/2 block away. Staff was very friendly, knowledgeable and willing to help anyway they can. Hotel restaurant was very good and had food vouchers for each night.
Hotel does not have distilled water for CPAP, but neither did
Location
Little pricey
This hotel is centrally located, which is a priority for me when traveling, especially for leisure. I don't tend to spend much time in the room unless I am showering or sleeping, so the fact that the room was crammed did not matter that much. We got a harbor view, but that seemed a little silly now that I know the window was super tiny and you could only 'enjoy' the view while standing right in front of it. The hotel and the room were very clean and comfortable, despite the lack of space. I appreciated having a parking spot in a close-by garage. We've stayed in hotels before that were valet only at a much higher price (expensive and a hassle). Front doors of the hotel remain locked at all times, so if safety is a concern, you would feel better knowing that. The rooftop open-air area is a bit small as well and is not as open as you would imagine, more of a wrap around set-up, but it was better than nothing. I was weirdly fixated on the poor quality of the toilet paper, but there's a Target right across the street, so you can purchase your own if you must have the best for your bum lol I had no idea it mattered this much to me, but I guess it did.
From start to finish we found the location and hotel to be excellent, snd the staff friendly, knowledgable, and helpful.
It’s blocks away from Pike market, across the street from Target, and located within easy access to downtown/the light rail. Friendly staff and small but cozy rooms. If we’re ever back in Seattle, we’d stay here again.
Omg the perfect hotel. We stayed here the night before our alaskan cruise. It literally right next to the Pikes market. Like 1 min walk.
Shout out to Noah, nadir and dove at the front desk. They helped us so much. Great tips for things nearby and helpful with our luggage as well.
They have a shuttle guy the contact and get you all set up for your ride to the cruise terminal. 15 each to get there.
Thanks so much state hotel for having us enjoy our seatle stay. You guys made it great.
We stayed in this hotel for 5 nights. Whilst the rooms are somewhat compact they are comfortable, clean and well equipped. The view we had over the local farmers market was fun to watch such hive of activity, day and night!
Staff are all helpful and friendly.
We incurred a nightmare of an improper and unauthorised charge on our credit card. It was agreed on check-in that $100/nights would be kept pending on our credit card as a deposit and for incidents. On checking we incurred 3x$300 1x$500 and 1x$600. Noah on the front desk informed us that their new computer system was failing and improper unauthorised payments were occasionally being applied. He corrected this, gave a small credit to spend in the hotel and took off the daily charge for getting free coffee etc (which finally shouldn’t be charged for anyway if it’s complementary)!
The adjoining restaurant has a good vibe, great service and excellent staff.
The improper and unauthorised charges did not detract from an enjoyable stay in Seattle or this hotel.
