Unfortunately another building across the road alarm went off about 4 times from 9pm and disturbed my settling down to sleep and woke me up in early hours.

Great spot in Fort Augustus
Pros:

Absolutely lovely stay in Fort Augustus. The location is extremely convenient, the staff were very kind and welcoming, the beds were comfortable, and the water was plenty hot. Everything you want after a long day of travel. (And while there, be sure to stop into Iceberg Glass next door!)

A few helpful tips for future guests:

Parking:
Parking is located to the right of the back patio of the Chinese restaurant. You will turn onto Canal Side, then turn again immediately, right before the Bothy Bar. That lot is for the hotel.

Getting to the hotel:
You access the hotel by walking up the stairs and through the Chinese restaurant. It feels strange at first, but it works perfectly. The bartender or waiter will happily point you in the right direction and guide you around to the hotel entrance.

If you are arriving or leaving outside of restaurant hours, you will need to walk around the block to reach the parking lot. It is not a far walk at all and very manageable.

Side note: the Chinese restaurant is excellent. It is a great perk to be able to walk downstairs and grab a well-deserved dinner, especially after nearly 30 hours of travel.

The rooms are basic but have everything you need. The bathroom is on the smaller side, but it is well set up and fully functional. Overall, a very comfortable and pleasant stay and I would absolutely recommend it.

Cons:

TV didn't work. We weren't in the room much, so didn't attempt to problem solve or ask the hotel for assistance.

Wonderful little gem.
Pros:

Beautiful room, excellent shower, plenty of bedding, great towels! Easy parking just around the corner. Right next to Chinese restaurant.

Cons:

Bed was really hard for me. I know all beds are usually firm, but the double bed was very uncomfortable.

Pros:

The hotel has a convienient location, and free parking was provided.

Cons:

The bathroom was very small.
You can easily hear people passing by and cars throught the night since it is on the main street.
Cleanliness could be improved, there were food crumbs and a bottle cap between the bed and the bedside table.

Convenient Locstion to Canals
Pros:

Although we both arrived later than expected from our day trip to the Isle of Skye, the staff were very pleasant and helpful in getting us settled into our room. The waiter from the restaurant carried our suitcases up the stairs for, which we were very grateful 🙏. The room was spacious with more than adequate bathroom facilities. The bed was very comfortable.

We dined in the Motel restaurant, being served a very sumptuous and tasty Chinese meal. It was one of the best we've ever had.

Cons:

Car parking was a shsred area with another business, and getting into the motel was a bit tricky from it, having to go through the restaurant or out to the main road. Overall, we managed to make it happen.

I would visit Fort Augustus again but not Richmond House Hotel.

Cons:

The shower room/toilet was dirty. The walls of the stairway leading up to the room was filthy. There was no bedside cabinet/shelf at one side of the double bed. Staff were not welcoming, produced a card machine and handed me a key for room 1 at the top of the stairs. ( no other conversation.) Parking was at the back of the chinese restaurant, hotel guests had to enter via the front door, which involved walking around the buildings & area next door to the restaurant.

Lovely people.
Pros:

The staff were very accommodating. Chinese restaurant with affordable meals. They were happy to meet me at midnight when I was delayed.

Cons:

Lack of internet but that seems to be an issue everywhere in this area and is not just restricted to the hotel.

Great location and awesome food
Pros:

We were upgraded to a double from 2 single beds at no extra charge and no fuss. Manager was very helpful and showed us a lovely clean room with great clean bathroom. Entire place was spotless.
The location was excellent.
The attached Chinese restaurant was one of the best I've ever eaten in and I've eaten in many.

Cons:

Nothing to complain about.
