Hotel Casa Madonna

Out of a good conscience, I could not recommend this property. No coffee makers in the room no washcloths. Make shift furniture see thru curtains. Traffic noise was terrible. Felt unsafe in the building. Left for another hotel as soon I could.

Would not stay here again. No air circulation in the rooms made it incredibly stuffy and hot. One window was available to open, but without a window screen, bugs were happy visitors and the noise from the nearby streets was incredible (even with ear plugs). The breakfast is not worth having but the worst part of the entire stay was the complete lack of available hot water. It is clean and the staff are friendly enough thoigh rarely available. There are many other options in the area.

This was a good place to stay for a few nights in Monteverde. It was easily walkable to restaurants/shops, we found the staff very helpful and the included breakfast was simple but good! We slept really well here. We did notice a bit of a smell from the bathroom drains sometimes, but we just kept the bathroom door shut and it was fine! Overall a great place to stay in Monteverde on a bit of a budget!!

Great family owned hotel! Very basic but rooms are spacious. Very close to town and very walkable to all restaurants, cafes, shops & grocery. Very basic hotel but spotless. Breakfast ladies were amazing & attentive. Breakfast was table service with limited options but delicious. No air conditioning but fan in room & windows that you are able to open.

The hotel breakfast is good and the staff is nice. But there is not hotwater during our stay.

I had a double booking, and they would not work with me at all, said I need to work that out with hotels. com They had 6 open rooms, but would still not help on the double booking.

Casa Madonna offered a convenient location close to our activities in Monteverde. We did the Santa Elena Reserve and Salvatura Adventure Park. Both were amazing and Casa Madonna worked out well. The breakfast was good. Service was friendly and helpful. The room was minimal but the beds were comfortable. It was damp /humid in a basement room, but clean. They did not supply soap in the room, so be sure to bring your own for handwashing.

Cons: Mold in the room, every patron coughing. No A/C or fan. Cold water (no lukewarm or hot available - settings on the shower head broken). Front desk staffed during check in, then not at all thereafter. Pressed the call bell at the desk on two occasions and no one attended. Master keys for all the rooms was left out in the open, visible from the street. Dump trucks constantly driving by using Jake breaks (loud). Single pane windows. Lots of insects in the room (corners).
Wouldn’t stay here again.
Pros: parking available. Location was good, walkable to shops/restaurants. Breakfast was alright: portion small first day, better the next. Attentive breakfast staff. (They ran out of sweetener for coffee, was told they had no more available) budget hotel

Monteverde is not for the cozy experience. The hikes are awesome though

This is a nice place for a day or two...we just stayed for a night and was good...no air condition...but was not required...we stayed in Dec...

My husband & I come to Monteverde often to do maintenance on a property we own in the area. We are always looking for places to stay the night that are comfortable but also reasonably priced. This hotel meets both of those criteria. It’s simple, but that’s all one really needs when enjoying the nature around them in Monteverde. We had a great night of sleep. It’s also very easy to walk to great restaurants & stores. We will stay again!

I great hotel for the price. Close to the strip, nice clean rooms, free parking and great wifi.

Great service , very accommodative and allowed early checkin

Property was clean and very budget friendly. There seemed to be issue with bathroom since it was always very stinky, even though it appeared clean. Great hotel if you aren't spending time in your room. No bugs in room. Good cooked on request breakfast included in our booking.

We left at once after seeing the room - and an alternative room, that was offered us after we declined the first one.

Many of the hotel’s rooms are located on basement level. No windows. Tiny small and dirty rooms. But the worst part was the smell. Mould and fungus. Bathrooms smell terribly.

We would not risk sleeping in that. So we left and found easily nice and affordable accommodation elsewhere.

Friendly staff

Hotel was perfectly located for town and activities. Room was sub par to be honest. Toilet seat broken, sheets too small for the beds kept falling off. Bad smell (I know no flushing of toilet paper) in the bathroom. Check in was very odd. Teenagers playing video games in the waiting room, were the actual staff checking us in. Felt like I was rushed so he could get back to his game. Breakfast was ok, eggs or pancakes.

Our family had two rooms for two nights. It is not a hotel but a house with a couple of rooms. Each room has a lot of bugs. Everybody got a lot of bug bites. The rooms smell very bad. We almost did not sleep. The breakfast is not good either. We ended up going out for breakfast. Definitely will not recommend it to anyone.
