Economical Hotel/Hostel in a Good Location
Pros:

This economical hotel is just off the Gondo Arcade in Nagano City, only a block from the main street Chuo-dori. It is an easy walk to Zenkouji Temple, which is a main attraction of the town.
The Nagano (JR) train station is about a 20 minute walk, but when I arrived late in the evening, I took a taxi, and the taxi took me to Hotel Yama, not this Hotel NEW Yama. So take care. The Nagano Dentetsu line station is about a 5 minute walk away, down the Gondo Arcade.
The hotel is clean, and very inexpensive. The room I had was fine, but had no internet. I knew there was no WIFI, but thought there would be a LAN connection.
There is no restaurant in the hotel, but there was a small refrigerator in the room, where I put things for breakfast.
The price point and the amenities position this hotel as more of a hostel. If that is what you want, then this is the hotel for you!
