I was checked in by Elga. She was charming and asked me very thoughtful questions about what I might need during my visit. Her kind demeanor made my day. She is a treasure.
I stayed in a quiet “townhouse studio” (#417) which is a large space divided into a living area with a small couch, coffee table, tv, and a slightly separate bed area that has a very comfortable king bed, two chairs, tv and a small desk. I really appreciated having a kettle, Nespresso machine and a small refrigerator. The AC worked very well. There are plenty of outlets with charging options. This studio is very nicely laid out with plenty of space for several people to sit down (not on the bed) and relax. The hotel’s location is excellent, close to Hyde Park, many museums, shopping and tube stations. The studio’s bathroom, however, is very small and could be used only by one person at a time.
Although located on the 4th floor, the studio’s single window was almost entirely blocked by an outside technical wall which meant the room stayed very dark and cave-like during the day. Honestly, I would have loved staying in this studio had it not been for the absence of natural lighting. But between the very dimly lit hotel 4th floor hallway and the darkened studio room, I found myself relieved to leave the room/hotel, because I needed to see actual daylight. I’d suggest that before assigning this room, the front desk inform guests the many benefits of this very nice large space as well as the “downside” of there being very limited natural light.
I had breakfast in Cento. The restaurant offers a very nice buffet and at 9:45 am, I found it to be noisy and busy. While I specifically asked to be seated at a quiet table, the host took me to a small table located in the very middle of the bustling restaurant. He then immediately walked away without asking me if the table was satisfactory or giving me any information about the meal options. When I called him back to ask a question about the buffet, he responded with one brief sentence and then sprinted off again, seemingly intent upon getting to his next task. Having worked in the restaurant business when I was younger, I well remember the need to multi-task efficiently, but his open disinterest in talking to me felt very off-putting. Not to be sarcastic, but the primary role of a host is to…welcome guests and see to their needs.
I should note that for those who have difficulty climbing stairs, the hotel’s front entrance requires one to walk up some 5-7 steps before entering the building. I did not see any alternative entrance nor was there any staff waiting outside who could assist with bags.
I had chosen to stay in this hotel because we have family living nearby in South Ken and I am looking for a hotel that can offer our larger family a quiet and welcoming space for when we visit 3-4 times per year. We’ve stayed in eight different London hotels over the last seven years, but none are located as close to my relative’s flat as 100 Queens Gate; thus, I had high hopes for this hotel. Due to my experience in Cento and my need for more daylight during the day, however, I will keep looking for another hotel. This ground floor of the hotel was, for the most part, very nice and the reviews in TA speak often about the warm engagement of the staff, but this visit just wasn’t a good fit for me in the end.
We stayed at the Queens Gate hotel for 4 days. The hotel is conveniently located by a tube stop and was beautiful inside. The restaurant was also amazing and accommodating. The best part was the staff, specifically Anton. He was always more than willing to assist, guide us and answer any questions. Reza was also super helpful during our stay!
The room was perfect for what I needed. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. The location was also great. I would recommend this location.
The bed was not comfortable at all. It was extremely firm.
Great staff and good facilities. Room is basic but well kept. Great location, very close to South Kensington station, cafes bus stops ect. Would highly recommend.
Minor but it was a bit of a maze to find our room. Recommend you take staff on their offer to take bags (I normally don’t)
I would like to express my sincerest appreciation for the exceptional care and attention I received during my recent visit to 100 Queens Gate Kensington.
From the moment I arrived, the CONCIERGE SYED demonstrated professionalism, warmth and genuine concern. His efficiency and kindness helped put me at ease right away.
I am equally grateful to SANDALI a trained medical professional who treated my injured foot. Her skill, patience and reassuring manner were truly outstanding. She took the time to listen carefully, explain each step and provided thoughtful attentive care.
Together, they created a compassionate and reassuring experience. Please extend my heartfelt gratitude to both SYED and SANDALI for their dedication and excellence. They are true credit to your team. Victoria Escude Room 023
