Hotel Great Service and Great Location to Fisherman's Wharf Restaurants and Retail Shops. The Breakfast is so amazing so many delicious options of food drinks and pastries worth the stay 💯 ❤️. Parking is also a plus very secured and perfect access to the rooms from the elevator this was just an added bonus very safe and convenient. We had a Pool View and a view of the City waking up every morning was great vibes. RIU we will be staying here again highly recommend.
The hotel was excellent, in the perfect spot for us to explore this beautiful city
We were on our holiday to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary and this experience made it very special
We arrived after a brutally long travel day to find the hotel very accommodating. When I booked the hotel, I saw all the excellent reviews and now I know why...It is literally 10 minutes to Pier 39, Ghiradelli, the Buena Vista, other fun shops AND there is a Trader Joes one block away and a Walgreens 3 blocks away. The cable car stop is on Hyde (near Ghiradelli) and we were able to walk to North Beach (20 min) to dinner. Honestly, it's so convenient and safe. PLUS they include an awesome breakfast buffet with your room. Not the sad muffin and stale coffee...no..this is fresh pastries, fruit, charcuterie, eggs, homefries, nutella, pancakes and very strong coffee. The only downside is the water pressure and the tiny toilet room :)
I stayed here with partner and his sister end of last year. I came back for my mother’s birthday so I took her with my brother and niece. We book two rooms. Unfortunately, our rooms are nowhere next to each other, but we were on the same floor. Their room faces the pool, so it’s noisy with people shouting and running around. The room still smells musky. When my brother and I went to our room, the stench is stronger so I had to take my air freshener from my car just like the last time to mask the scent off.
The check-in process is slow. Our first night, our 2nd room’s shower did not have any water coming out. My niece called the front desk a total of 8 times but no one was answering so she gave up. I reported this in the morning. It was only then that it was fixed.
The shower has a low pressure, and it’s small for American standards. There is no exhaust to suck the steam out from the shower. Bring your own soap and shampoo.
The main plus is it is easy to find parking at the hotel and its location is walking distance to the pier. However, I would consider the two hotels in front of it, and the other one is adjacent to it. I’ll probably try those other two hotels for once.
Excellent place to stay, The place is clean, walking distance to the waterfront, only wish they could have more rooms upstairs to enjoy the city view...
The hotel boasts a prime location, ideal for those looking to explore the best of San Francisco on foot. Traveling as a family, having a minibar in the room was a huge plus; it’s a functional detail that allowed us to store food, making our daily logistics much easier.
Another highlight is the breakfast: the variety and quality of the products are top-tier, exceeding expectations and providing an excellent start to the day.
However, the only negative point was the underground parking. I found the additional cost to be excessive, especially considering the rate already paid for the room and breakfast. It is disappointing that they do not offer a preferential rate for guests, something that would certainly have made the stay a much better overall experience.
My daughter had travel sickness when we arrived early before check in time and the lovely lady on reception found us an available room immediately. I had requested online a room away from the bus depot that I had read was a noisy area. While my daughter rested, I enquired if there was another room available, which again the friendly lady at reception was happy to arrange for us. At a scheduled time, the very helpful porter came and collected our belongings and escorted us to our much quieter located room. Everything about the room was comfortable. The included buffet breakfast offered lots of variety and was run by very efficient staff to cope with the large number of guests and constant refilling of the food.
There is a mini convenience store near reception with food, snacks and drinks and Trader Joe’s is a block away if you need more supplies.
This hotel was so convenient to walk to Fisherman’s Wharf, Pier 39 and the ferry going to Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. We hired bikes from a nearby bike hire shop to ride to and from the Golden Gate Bridge and being lucky that it was a hot day in September, I even got to use the pool and relax on the sun lounges after our ride.
I was very pleased with my choice to stay at this hotel and enjoyed the experience of being located so close to Fisherman’s Wharf.
Everything is good!
Nice breakfast, nice bar ,Clean and cozy rooms, service is good.
Outside the tohel have a space to chill up and enjoy the fire stove.
Near by there is supermarket of Trade joe's.
My overall stay at the Riu was awesome. The location right at fisherman’s wharf is perfect. The staff was very nice and polite. The morning breakfast was great, which we ate at everyday during our stay. Will be coming back to stay here next time I’m in San Francisco!
Wonderful hotel. Nice that breakfast was included. It was fine. The rooms were big and the beds massive and comfortable. This was near attractions and felt the safest place in SF to stay. Rooms are a little noisy as you could hear people in other rooms above and to the side. I would stay again for sure.
My husband and I had our first vacation at this hotel this past weekend and we fell in love! The staff were amazing and the breakfast was so yummy! We will definitely be staying here again!
Breakfast mediocre. Rude staff. Ok location. What’s with the bathroom ? Have you heard of pocket doors for tiny spaces? Heard every sound in the room above
Lovely hotel. Fabulous breakfast. Great staff.
The Hotel may be a bit dated in some respects but the provision of a Free Breakfast was a wonderful bonus.
Nice smoking area with sofas and a fire pit outside,
Fisherman's Wharf was a stone throw away.
Only downside is all the Hobos hanging around scrounging fags - but this is not a problem exclusive to the Hotel.
Overall a clean and comfortable hotel but could use some updating in the rooms and on the guest floors. The location is very good for Fisherman's wharf but about 20-30 mins by car to the financial/business district. For the price paid and based on the website pictures I expected more.
My first time at Riu.
Overall a great experience.
The room was clean.
The breakfast was very good with numerous choices.
The check-in staff were friendly and very helpful.
The breakfast staff were very accommodating.
A couple items that prevented me from giving Riu an excellent rating:
I could hear every footstep the people above my third floor room were taking.
The AC unit in my room was very noisy. Needs maintenance.
Location was good, staying in Wharf area is perfect for tourists. Good service at breakfast and comfortable beds and room size.
We first stayed in this hotel 3 years ago, and have been back for New Year's ever since. The service is spectacular, the staff are helpful and very friendly, they have a fairly large gym, for a hotel, and a pool. The breakfast has many options. The location is perfect.
Great location, clean facilities. Good breakfast. Best place to stay when you visit San Francisco. We lover our stay here.
We booked a hotel stay with Hotel Riu Fisherman’s Wharf and were so excited. Unfortunately, a big snow storm thwarted our plan and we had to cut our trip short to get home safely. Even though it was past the time to cancel our hotel stay, Hotel Riu allowed us to cancel without the penalty charge. That is incredible and so kind of management, and greatly appreciated. We cannot wait to re-book our stay for the next time we come to San Francisco.
