Pros:

Die Hotelanlage ist absolut traumhaft, extrem sauber und so gut gepflegt, dass man das Resort gar nicht verlassen muss, um sich wohlzufühlen. Das Frühstück war absolut großartig und das Essen in den Restaurants hervorragend. Ein riesiges Dankeschön auch für die liebevolle Honeymoon-Aufmerksamkeit auf unserem Zimmer!
Das Empfangsteam war zu uns sehr nett, unkompliziert und hilfreich (auch wenn uns auffiel, dass sie bei anderen ausländischen Gästen manchmal etwas ungeduldig wirkten).

Ein paar Punkte gibt es jedoch, die den Aufenthalt noch besser gemacht hätten:
Poolbereich: Das Personal war teilweise unaufmerksam, sprach kaum Englisch und kannte die Karte nicht gut. Auch das System mit den kostenpflichtigen Liegestühlen wurde uns nicht erklärt. (Es hat auch gratis Liegestühle nur die grossen Betten kosten - man kann dieses Geld aber als Konsumation im Restaurant nutzen)

Spa: Dass man selbst bei einem Upgrade auf eine Junior Suite extra für den Spa-Bereich zahlen muss, finden wir für diese Zimmerkategorie nicht angemessen. Der Spa ist zwar wunderschön, aber die Atmosphäre wurde durch Gäste gestört, die sich nicht an die Etikette hielten (z.B. FaceTime im Whirlpool). Zudem war die Snackauswahl (nur Nüsse und Bananenchips) etwas dürftig.

Insgesamt hatten wir aber einen wunderschönen Aufenthalt und bedanken uns für die schöne Zeit

A week exploring Funchal.
Pros:

Very Luxurious. Nice Restaurants. Nice view from our free upgrade to a sea view suite, for the Fireworks. Lovely pools to swim in, with plenty of sun beds.

Excellent hotel for short break
Pros:

Overall, the hotel was very good and the range of facilities were excellent. Pools were very good and service around them (towels, snacks etc) was excellent. Speaking with the local people (taxi drivers, shop keepers etc) it seems that the construction of the hotel caused much dissatisfaction and even anger. Rumours that the hotel should have been a maximum of seven stories (it is actually seventeen) has lead to its nickname of “The Savoy Monster.” However, the overall experience was very good indeed and the hotel must rate as one of the best in Funchal.

Cons:

At times, it was apparent that the more junior members of staff required much more training - in particular in the many restaurants. Again, locals commented on a significant downsizing of the total workforce a couple of years ago so as to improve the profitability of the hotel. This was only apparent in the restaurant areas as other, customer facing roles were very good. The selection of food on the menus was somewhat limited although the food served was of a very high standard. Facilities within the room were very good (room size, bathroom facilities, balcony etc.) but the lack of a dressing table with mirror was noticeable.

Has a special part in my heart.
Pros:

The hotel was stunning and gave you that wow factor. It had everything you needed under one roof and everyone couldn’t do enough for you. I was nervous with going on our first trip away with our 4 month but they did everything they could to make us comfortable. Our room was a great size which meant we had room to move around even with the cot in. The food was incredible, we had to get room service a few times as going out didn’t work with our 4 month and food/service was incredible.

The hotel was close to so many great places for breakfast etc so we explored other options.

Cons:

Being super picky signage for the toilets under the pool restaurant was confusing so meant the first time I changed my son in the female toilets. A few missing tiles around the pool.
