I stayed there 6 years ago it seemed much better then
Pros:

It was along my traveled route. Easy to park my trailer

Cons:

Overpriced for the amities that I received. Had to share the microwave down the hall. Thought I booked a suite and it was just a regular room

Excellent stay to visit Wake Forest U
Pros:

The hotel looks quite new. The only thing I noticed were the electrical outlets by the nightstand, that looked loose so that my charger needed a little wiggling before it caught.
Everything else was excellent. The room was spotless, the staff was outstanding, very helpful, like you find at a Ritz-Carlton.
There is a coin operated washing machine with dryer.
It's a relatively small city, so if you need a rideshare, it's worth reserving ahead in the app, because 15 minutes is a typical wait time.

Poorly maintained and questionable customer service / policies
Pros:

After fighting bad weather and traffic all day, my spouse and I chose to stay at the DoubleTree - Winston Salem - University Hotel. At check-in we booked a room with a king bed but was given a room with 2 queens. When we went back to inquire, we were told that they no longer had any king rooms. The room that we did stay in (room 225) had an incredibly loud heating/air unit. Additionally, the faucet in the tub did not fully turn off, leaving the tub around the drain mildew stained and water continually trickling. The next morning we inquired about a complimentary breakfast. We were directed to the breakfast / dining area where we had a mediocre breakfast. Upon getting home hours later and checking email, we discovered that we were then charged for breakfast. It is sad that a hotel of this rating is not maintained and that the staff misleads their customers. We do not recommend this hotel. I do not know if these lack of standards are corporate-wide or just this location. I can guarantee that this hotel will never get our business again.

If it were a non-smoking hotel it would have been perfect.
Pros:

Great location; very convenient to the highway and access to entertainment.

Cons:

There were a lot of pot smokers staying there when we were there.
