Stella and her family have been wonderful hosts. The room is a bit run down and a big gap between the roof and bathroom wall. So we had mosquitos at night. We had lunch and dinner at the resort for the entire time that we stayed in Tanna Island. Stella is a great cook!
We had a bad experience with the driver who took us to the volcano from Amutia. I don't know if the driver is the designated driver for Amutia Resort, but he did all the airport pick up and drop off. We were a group of 4 and hired one car, we asked a couple of times for the price before we went, but the driver just say we will work out at the end. Turns out the driver has asked for 120,000 vatu from EACH passenger. ($140 aud) We were completed shocked by this unreasonable demand, we ended up bargaining to a price where still is probably more expense than Uber in Australia. I would recommend travellers to pre-negotiate price before you go to the volcano regardless of push backs.
Amutia Resort is in a nice location, the grounds are lush and tropical. The ocean is on your door step and great for swimming and snorkelling. The bungalows are old and tired looking with no fans or aircon. The shower was dismal, just a trickle of water. The beds were good but the linen wasn't that clean. It would have been great to have a bar fridge in the room to keep drinks cold. We had a family of geckos in the room with us, some wasp nests and a load of other insects. Stella, the property manager is awesome, she made our stay really good and cooked some great meals. the pool was green but they had that sorted the day before we left. My 2 boys loved running around the gardens and we actually loved our stay despite the shabbiness of our room.
This property is still recovering from the last cyclone they had. Amenities are minimal and the maintenance staff are struggling. The general staff are very helpful and the meals are of good quality.
We were on tanna for work, so we’re not too put out . But this would have been a different story if I were holidaying
We absolutely loved out stay here. We actually ended up having the whole place to ourselves, since it was low season. Not the fanciest place in the world, but for the price--exactly what we were looking for. The beach is magnificent and quite desolate. The bed was made and room was tidied up everyday, and the food was absolutely delish (fresh seafood, curries, etc.). Stellah was an amazing hostess. On our last night, she prepared a buffet dinner for 2, and it was WAY more food than we could eat.
Wi-Fiがあればより良かった。
Very friendly and helpful owners HOWEVER the property was quite run down, rooms floors were very dirty, and still damage from the 2015 cyclone Pam. There was no sign on the road or at the property, and due to a change in name the locals didn’t know how to find it! Food was great BUT expensive, limited and took over an hour to get after ordering
Great spot, lovely people and owners. Very accomodating. Very family friendly. Good, healthy meals cooked on demand, for a budget accomodation we had everything we needed and if we needed something else, owners and staff where happy to provide. Our boys had a great time with few restrictions.
We stayed for two nights during our fieldwork in Tanna and can't complain. We have been very nicely welcomed, the bungalows ("Vilas") have been spacious and clean. The food was tasty as well and when we had to go up early they supported this too and got up early to provide some breakfast. Looking at other places in the area it was a good choice to stay there.
Bit run down but hands down the staff were wonderful
Unterkunft dreckig und schmuddelig. Voller Eidechsen, Stechmücken, Krabben, Spinnen und Kackerlacken. Kein Warmwasser, teilweise gar kein fliessendes Wasser. Kein Internet, obwohl ausgewiesen.
This hotel has its own charm and is on one of the most beautiful beaches anywhere. There are waves on one side and a sheltered cove on the other so that you can choose whichever you prefer. Our room was large with a king size bed. The staff were very friendly and the lunch and dinners were very good.
