This hotel was just beautiful and had the best staff. From the minute we stepped out of the car with the valet, to the bellman, to the front desk, to the servers in the morning, the employees are just the best; so friendly and attentive. Our room was a corner king with 3 windows overlooking the harbor and was very large. We ended up staying an extra day and the front desk was so accommodating. The location was perfect as it was a few blocks to restaurants on one side of King St. and shopping on the other side of King St. and of course the lovely park across the street. I would definitely stay here next time we are in Charleston.
I recently stayed here with 3 female friends for another friends event weekend. Check in was smooth and easy. The staff at the front lobby were all very pleasant. Valet parking was smooth and easy. For the cost of parking anywhere else it was the best choice for us to just let the hotel handle our vehicle. Upon entering our room we were happy with the space we had the details. There is a mini fridge in the room. A very nice sized closet with robes and the beds are very comfortable. The bathroom is tiny but we had plenty of space within the room for four women to do hair, make up and get dressed without being in anyones way. Our view was of the roof so I can't say anything on that. Location is perfect for walking to shops and eateries. We had breakfast at the Swamp Fox in the morning and the food was delicious and service excellent. A gorgeous historical hotel.
Me and my daughter traveled together. We loved the hotel and the food. Great place to stay. We will be back in the future. A little expensive but its a great place.
Cold chilled fruity water in lobby.
Nice beds and linens
Greeters at door
Little lighting in rooms kinda dark.
Stiff ambience in Swamp fox
Location and the restaurant. We loved the valet parking staff.
Old carpet and water took too long to get hot.
A stay at the Francis Marion is always a pleasure. It is an elegant older hotel. While bathrooms are small, the rooms are comfortable and clean. It’s in a good location as well. If you eat at its Swamp Fox restaurant, ask for Sylvie. She’s just the best.

Gute Lage des Hotels, direkt auf der King Street.
Valet Parking sehr teuer. Sehr kleines Badezimmer.
Location is fantastic. Beautiful main area with 1920s music. Rooms are small, dated...but super clean and functional. Beds pillows are superior.
Great location, beautiful lobby and friendly staff. Small bathroom and Toilet didn’t flush. I was told it’s luck of the draw due on the age of the hotel. We moved to a different room in the middle of the night. The AC was so loud that it was hard to sleep. Parking was $72 for two day. I would not stay again.
Unfortunately, the furniture inside the guest room was old and dirty. The staff is pleasant and hospitable, but the aging furniture and amenities inside the room to go away from the joy of staying there. Location is excellent.
Not well maintained.
A lot of work should be done. Plenty of potential but so many details of workmanship, lack of repairs or painting in obvious locations.
liked stsrbucks and restaurant on site. love concierge.
small bathroom no iron in room
The location of the property was great.
The property is very, very outdated. The bathroom was so tiny that only one person (barely) fit. Not enough outlets. Very old and you could hear every sound. Beds are tiny. Zero amenities. The gym was awful. There were 3 other guests besides me and we didn’t fit in the room. This hotel was very expensive for what you get.
First time to Charleston and we were fortunate to find “Karin” the concierge in the lobby to guide us on things to do, places to see and how to get there! She made the trip special with her tips and advice. She also shared a lot of Charleston history with my wife Laurie each morning.
