Nice, well kept older property in central Charleston..
Nothing
Great location. Friendly staff. Nice lobby. Good bar/ restaurant.
Facing Francis Marion park was at times very noisy between King St traffic and the rooftop club across the street. The room was a good size but the bathroom was VERY small. Amenities were fine.
We were quite disappointed with our stay at the Francis Marion. First of all, they ignored my emails that I had sent prior to staying there, which I think was rude, they then gave us the room with the smallest bathroom, which was difficult to manoeuvre, especially for my pregnant girlfriend. The room itself was nice and a good size, however the bathroom, in addition to being small was also in need to a serious upgrade - the toilet had stains in the bowl and the bath also looked like it needed to be replaced due to wear and tear. Am mentioning these points because this hotel was definitely on the pricier side, so I would have expected a more modern/ less run down looking bathroom for the money I paid. In contrast however, the location was fantastic, it was very close to a lot of the sites which was really convenient when not wanting to drive everywhere.
The car park next to the hotel was convenient but it was a shame that there was no hotel-associated discount or anything as it was quite pricey to park there just for a day - $50.

Lovely hotel. Nice room, quiet hotel, friendly staff. Nice gym. Great location. Very clean. Complimentary champagne and cheese/crackers at Friday evening check-in. Cookies in lobby!
Location and staff
Old style character is nice but overated. Beds were too small. It's very nice but overpriced for value.
We enjoyed our stay at the Francis Marion. It was within walking distance to all the sights we wanted to see, the hotel staff was friendly and helpful, and we appreciated the little touches like complementary coffee in the morning, cookies in the afternoon, a water refilling station, bathrobes, and water bottles in the fridge.
Location is great for visits to historic centre of Charleston
Room was a little old fashioned and on the small side, but it is an Historic hotel.
Location was perfect to walk to everything. Old Charleston charm. We had a fourth floor room that was near King Street. My only complaint is that if you are a light Sleeper the noise from King Street does not end until around 2:15 AM and that was consistent every night. We stayed Thursday-Monday. Nightlife, cops, people, screaming, etc. not the quietest place to be, but if you like the nightlife, you can walk straight out your door into bars and clubs.
This hotel is under years old, but has been maintained however some corks like tiny bathrooms and not as many outlets, etc., are to be expected. The hotel restaurant "Swamp Fox" is nice but extremely busy at all times so make sure to make reservations because it is a tourist attraction in addition to being the hotel restaurant.
Love this location for a King street shopping weekend. Near all the shops and restaurants. Sylvie at the Swamp fox restaurant was wonderful!
Excellent in every respect: location, comfort, full breakfast, service, historical design. I loved the Big Band & old standards music in the lobby, along with fresh-fruit spa water (and the cookies). I'm so glad we stayed in such a unique place.
Perfect vintage hotel located in central downtown Charleston, SC. Excellent service at reasonable prices and great location to explore downtown.
