The location is excellent, great restaurants, cafes and theatres at your door stop. Great hotel that still feels sumptuous regardless of age.
The bed wasn't as comfortable as expected. Mattress was too hard for my arthritic hips. Glasses were not clean and had to ask for fresh ones.
Good standard : good location : good people : good weather
The views of the city and the bay were absolutely stunning
Highly recommend this hotel. It had sultry ambience and a sense of luxury for sure. The hotel room itself was modern and clean. The shower was not the best. As a couple we didn't need the step in bath option and the showerhead was really disappointing. The water pressure was low and difficult to get the temperature just right. It was either too hot or too cold. Other than this I found the overall hotel experience very welcoming and would recommend it to others. Room service was also top notch. Loved the Sofitel.
The room had a nice view of the city’s skyline. The welcome drink was great.
We had to wait about 20 minutes to get a table for breakfast as it was busy. The staff was very apologetic about the wait and said they would extend it for an extra 15 minutes.
The location
Bathtub showers. Very old fashioned. Pre checked in to avoid delay check in and still took long to check in. Staff came to turn down service and did not come back. I requested flowers presented on arrival and did not happen without myself having to chase them up. Did not have multiple tooth brushes in room, did not have multiple coffee capsules. Dirty coffee cups.
Friendly staff and was attentive to detail
Outdated. No pool onsite
The reception and the Concietge were efficiently helpful and deserved five stars and the bed was quite vomgortable but the room and bathroom were extremely dated and resembled a 1960s 2 star hotel. A xhower over the bath in a five star hotel in 2026 is a joke. The csrpet was well worn and sfter two nights we still could not operste the lights, the sir confitioning or the television. We stayed last week at a Millennium hotel where all of these things were simple to operate.. we will not be returning to Sofitel on Colllins Stredt.
This hotel is magnificent. Both in terms of the building, each room being at least 35 floors above the ground, and the staff, who are warm and welcoming. The food and drinks are first class and the position at the top of Collins Street, with a free tram stop outside, is superb. Across the road are the Treasury Museum (free), Fitzroy Park with Captain Cook’s house and nearby are the tennis and cricket stadiums.
Three wonderful nights here to enjoy the Australian Open tennis.
Wonderful views, impeccable service, very comfortable room, spacious bathroom and a marvellous king-size bed.
Even got the chance to have a nice chat with Jim Courier, who was also staying here, together with a number of players and supports.
Really enjoyed the breakfasts, although I note another review mentions pancakes, which I didn't notice being available. Maybe next year I'll look a little more closely.
pas de piscine

The bathrooms very outdated compared to the rest of the hotel
