still haven’t received my receipt in my email
This was our third time staying here and I have to say , the whole experience was even better than the last two ( which were terrific). The difference, I think is that everything is brand new.
Aside from the perfect location ( especially if arriving by train) , the rooms, the wonderful pool area ( a rarity in DC) , the best thing this hotel has going for it are the kind folks who work there . From check in to check out every single employee we were exposed to was so accommodating, so present and seemed to genuinely want us to enjoy ourselves. There is obviously an intentional focus on this at this very well run hotel. The rates are reasonable and it’s very kid friendly as we were traveling with our 7 year old grandson. I recommend this Hyatt to anyone.
Clean hotel with friendly and welcoming staff with great location near the capital. The national mall is an easy walk. The amenities were great for our family.
Great stay with a welcoming and friendly staff. Super clean rooms and everything functioned as you would expect it too.
It cost enough to stay here and the coffee pot in my room was growing something in the back of it. I am sure they will take care of it, but as a Hyatt member, I expected some type of small compensation. Ha yeah The Restaurant was very nice but the dinner was not enough to feed a man and very expensive.
Amazing amenities and quality of service.
A lil bit expensive, but a great experience.
Our stay at the Capitol was great. The renovations were impressive. To me the most special part of our stay was a Housing Keeping Lady named Vilma. She was so kind and so helpful. Our stay was better because of her.
Very nice stay at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. Staff was exceptional in directions and needs. The amenities like the pool and workout area just what I needed. And new undated TV was heat warming.
From check in, to concierge/bellman, to housekeeping and food and beverage, the entire experience was pleasant and effortless. The newly renovated rooms at the Hyatt Capitol Hill provided an exceptional level of comfort.
I was there for MAL weekend. This is my fifth time going and I always have a pleasant experience with the people who work here. Shout out to Tawana in the store!
The room renovations look nice, but minimalism ruins functionality. I used to be able to come and just live directly out of my suitcase the entire time. This was great because then I wouldn't have to think nearly as much about packing when it comes to checkout time. Now there's less floorspace, so there's no where to really leave a suitcase open without tripping over it, so I *have* to unpack it. Except you guys got rid of most of the drawers to put things in, leaving only three in the double queen bedroom that I was in. That's barely enough room if you have multiple people in a room that are staying for several days. The replacement of the actual closets with just open hangers is certainly a choice. Between that and the limited storage space, the room always look like a mess because you can't just put something out-of-sight anywhere.
The new sliding bathroom doors and motion activated lights are a nuisance for anyone that's a light sleeper. Gotta get up to pee in the middle of the night? Well, no matter what, you're gonna end up turning on the lights by stepping foot in the bathroom and you're gonna make a bunch of noise by rolling the heavy bathroom doors to open/close them.
Speaking of doors, the new room doors themselves seem far less soundproof than they used to. This is my fifth year coming here, and I don't remember ever having such an issue with hearing people outside my door as previous years.
The news beds were nice at least. I liked the added spots to plug things in if you're sleeping on the far side of the bed.
The new location of the bar downstairs is a plus. It's a lot easier to get to on the crowded nights than the old location. I think all the added seats/tables for people are also a really nice addition except for when it gets too busy. It just becomes way more of a hassle trying to navigate through the crowd of people now there's a ton of extra immovable obstacles in everyone's way.
Overall: The renovations *look nice* but I don't think enough thought went into how the rooms are being used when the design choices were being made.
The good: The staff is exceptional, truly truly exceptional, the bed is comfortable, it's very quiet. The rooms are virtually brand new, incredibly clean, only used the restaurant once, but the (ridiculously expensive at $41.00) hamburger was excellent.
The bad: The remodeled rooms look like they were furnished with IKEA furniture, very plastic and cheap. Trendy inexpensive laminate on the floors. Limited storage, no closet, just an open hanger bar. Only two decent sized drawers (if you are there for a night out of a suitcase, that doesn't matter, but having to store clothes in the two drawers AND still need to use the suitcase is quite inconvenient... there are small ones, including an odd low one below the "closet" but not practical). A full length mirror is at a window, not outside the closet or bathroom. Prices are worse than most of DC-- which is appallingly expensive. If you are fine with a $17 cocktail, fine, but otherwise bring your own liquor. And, not really a big deal for the obvious convention/business/expense account crowd, but it's not in the best location for regular tourists ...and restaurants are an Uber away for the most part.
Another pleasant stay. The Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill is always a good experience from check-in to check-out.
Great location, amazing staff. Recent updates are perfect. The location is close to everything. Staff is attentive and friendly. Rooms were spotless!
