The hotel and staff is absolutely amazing
What's not to like ?
The hotel was clean and comfortable, and the oceanfront view was beautiful. The stay was relaxing and enjoyable overall. I would consider coming back again.
Overall, it was a good experience. The only issue was that housekeeping may have accidentally taken my mom’s blanket, which was disappointing.
Beautiful location with a view of the Marina
A bit dated
Great hotel, very clean and comfortable. Would recommend.
Location, cleanliness, and view
I booked a higher floor, wasn’t given my room until 530 pm, due to it not being cleaned, kept trying to put me on lower floor when I had already waited over 4 hours just to get the higher floor
First we show up and they don’t show our reservation and it showed for next day and did nothing to try and help accommodate us Then we show up next day. After checking in we went to restaurant for dinner and they had no servers took 20 mins before someone arrived. Then they got the order wrong. Bed in the room was awful every time my husband moved felt like I was in a water bed and he is not a big guy. Then the water did not drain so I was taking a shower in a pool of dirty water. Air planes flying over about ever 10 mins and when you open the door the air pressures shakes the whole room and glass windows like an earthquake. It was so bad we left a day early, and as we left the valet blocks us in as they load another car then does it a 2nd time we had to sit for over 15 for the first then when he did it again my husband said something to him and he didn’t apologize he just said well they are leave soon. He let him know he wasn’t intuitive. He just walk away again no apology. The only nice thing I can say is that it was clean. Will never say here again.
I hated this hotel!!! We booked this hoping for a nice, well-appointed, relaxing family resort. What we got was an overcrowded, mediocre hotel with resort fees. First impression was good - lobby area was small but nice. We had two rooms next to each other in Bay 2 and they smelled awful!! Similar to a chemical smell of a newly cleaned porto-potty. While the rooms were updated at first glance, the door hinges, faucets, walls all showed many many years of wear.
Next up was the pool. It was so small and crowded. Barely any deck space. It was so small that it was loud and the complete opposite of a relaxing resort style pool. We never once found seats. One of the pools was overflowing with bodies and was a milky color. And good luck using the hot tub. It always had about a dozen people in the tiny thing.
We bought the breakfast package and the buffet was on par with a 3 star continental breakfast. Fresh fruit was just melons. Fake scrambled eggs. No omelet station or special offerings. I decided to order off the menu instead and it was worse. The “fresh avocado toast with a lemon infused olive oil drizzle” was premade guacamole on white bread.
To top it off they charge $50 a night to park in an overcrowded parking lot. The second night we couldn’t even find a spot and had to park on the street.
I would NEVER stay here again. What a huge disappointment.
Family of 4 with two younger children. We selected this hotel as part of a Costco bundle (hotel + car rental). The two queen bedroom with a bay view and balcony was absolutely breathtaking. The stand up shower was perfect and roomy for us but may not be friendly with families traveling with little kids that are used to taking a bath. The hotel has 3 pools, one of which I think the heater was broken as the water was freezing. It did not deter our kids from going down the water slides. The hot tub was an amazing relief from the cold and windy weather we had while staying there. Daily parking is expensive, self parking is $50/day (which was almost always full) and valet is $55/day. The hotel location was close to all the attractions that we wanted to do (Birch aquarium, Lego land, the zoo, and safari park). The service at the hotel was wonderful and would highly recommend for any family traveling for leisure.
Beautiful location, gardens and water and boat views. Very nice restaurants within walking distance. Driving or bike riding or even walking distance to the mission beach boardwalk.
Loved the location, room was comfy and celan. Staff is A++. Heated pool and slides are heaven for kids on spring break. Lots of free activites we choose kayak and sup. Just what we needed.
Breakfast is not worth it. At least for us. The staff is friendly and there are some choices but the price is not.
The pool was a hit with the kids. The food at Pelicans pool side was disappointing. Cold fries and small chicken tenders. Food was not worth it. The room was okay.
The hotel is beautiful from the lobby to the pool area and common areas. Our room (a suite in the Tower) was very spacious and the view from our room was one of the best we've ever had at any hotel. We even woke up to the sea lions in the bay!
However, we wouldn't book this hotel again. Although the staff were friendly, unfortunately the hotel feels understaffed and the facilities are really struggling to support the number of guests. Reception always had a line and the chairs in the lobby were always full with people waiting around. Parking is $50 per night but when we arrived back at the hotel at 9pm there was not one available parking space, making valet the only option. We called down to reception twice asking for an extra blanket and pillow and they never came. My son ended up sleeping under a coat and some extra clothes.
The pool was an absolute zoo! Finding a chair was impossible. The hot tub was shoulder to shoulder kids. One of the other guests said it was because of Spring Break, but we stayed at another hotel in the area for the first part of the week and it was not overrun with guests like the Hyatt Regency was! If you're a couple (no kids) I would stay far away from this hotel! The hotel also charges you for pool towels not returned to the poolside bin (although I don't know how they actually enforce that).
Even though we had a suite, with a table and chairs, living room area, and coffee bar, there was no microwave in the room which I found odd. We had to track down someone in the hall who brought one for us to use.
There is a shuttle which we were excited about, but it was unreliable when it came to the timetable. Although the hotel is technically walkable to Belmont Park, it's a long walk along a busy road.
There were just too many cons for me to recommend this hotel and/or stay there again and with the extra cost of parking and SO many people, it just didn't offer us the relaxing experience we were hoping for.
The hotel is excellent, facilities are charming and comfortable, the marina proximity helps to create the vacation climate even being 10 minutes from downtown San Diego by car. Rooms are elegant and spacious. The pool is a great place tounwind and relax.
Nothing.
Hands down the best service we’ve received at a hotel. Oz helped my parents find the right rooms and Philip made sure we had everything we needed for the beach. The staff were all fantastic! Dinner at Red Marlin was tasty, too. Our biggest caveat was that we wish there were more dining options to walk to. Still, we would return. It was a great stay!
The location was good however parking may be a bit difficult. We had to park off location because it was too full. Amenities and activities around the hotel was great. The pools are heated. The only complaint would be that our room, the sofa bed was crooked, it was broken. Also it was pretty dirty. There were sands and the food crumbles on the sofa and the mattress.
Nice, clean hotel
The parking fees. Nowhere to park anywhere close to the hotel and had to pay $50 a night to park in the lot. Too expensive if driving your own car and staying for 3 nights.
