The staff is very friendly and attentive. But, if you want to have a relaxing experience and sit by the pool, then this hotel is not for you! This is a family friendly hote, so there are tons of children running around without parent supervision. The pool area is taken over by families and loud children. The parents don't seem to care about disciplining their kids so theyre running around and jumping into the pool, wrestling in the pool, etc. The rooms seem to be noise proof, but they're not. You can definitly hear crying babies and children running up and down the halls. Trust me, choose another hotel!
Love this hotel. Beautiful views of the Bay and the staff is absolutely amazing.
I had a business meeting there and add to also request some additional services as far as meeting rooms. For staff was very attentive and so friendly. I love when I check into a hotel with pleasant staff and a clean hotel.
Great place to stay. Feels like a full on resort. Great location and great for families
The staff was very helpful. Phillip went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. It was a long hot day and Phillip went out of his way to offer us water and recommend things to do in the area.
The water slides were fun, they had an outdoor movie, smores night out by the water. So much fun that we are headed back there in two weeks just to stay there
It’s was a nice stay
Room 315 was so noisy needs to be reviewed for paying guests
All in all this was a great experience. Lots to offer for entertainment for younger children. Pool was cloudier than anticipated and a little dirty. The staff was fun, polite, and helpful for every wish. Our room was beautiful and a great location, but felt a little humid and mildewy, I'm assuming from the heat wave the previous week and being so close to the shore. Sitting on my balcony overlooking the marina was the best part of our day. You can see sea lions and a lot of activity. Very nice place to visit!
We recently stayed at Hyatt Regency Mission Bay for a special staycation celebrating my husband's birthday and marking an anniversary that meant a lot to our family. As locals to Pacific Beach, we look forward to using resorts like this for quick getaways close to home, and we came in with high expectations after years of prioritizing quality hotel stays when we travel.
The staff, without exception, were exceptional. From the very first phone call to book our reservation all the way through checkout, every single team member we interacted with went above and beyond. That kind of consistency across an entire team is rare, and it truly made our stay memorable. We also loved the variety of activities offered throughout the day for kids and families it made the resort feel lively and fun for all ages. My personal favorite was POOL BINGO :)
Unfortunately, our sleeping accommodations were a significant disappointment. The pull-out sofa bed was extremely uncomfortable. My daughters couldn't fall asleep because they could feel the springs through the mattress. My husband and I tried switching spots with them, but neither of us could tolerate it either. It really felt like we were laying on springs covered with a bedsheet. We ended up with my husband sleeping on the couch while my daughters and I squeezed into the one bed. Between the four of us, we got very little rest, and we ultimately checked out a day early just to get back to our own beds.
Given the investment we made in this stay, it was disappointing to leave early over something as fundamental as a good night's sleep.
We really did have a wonderful time otherwise, and the staff and amenities are genuinely top-notch. We'd just strongly encourage the hotel to look into the quality of their pull-out/sofa bed mattresses, as that was the one thing that took away from an otherwise great experience.
We originally booked a Hyatt stay in Palm Desert, but the temperature that weekend was expected to reach 118 degrees. Hyatt was incredibly understanding and waived the cancellation fee, allowing us to celebrate our anniversary at Hyatt Mission Bay instead.
It turned out to be the best decision we could have made. From the valet service and upgraded room to kayaking on the bay and breakfast, the entire experience was wonderful.
Two staff members made a lasting impression, although I unfortunately forgot their names. One gentleman, whose desk was near the ATM, brought us water while we waited in line. He helped us plan our day, suggested Belmont Park, and recommended routes for rollerblading with our kids.
The lady who checked us in was also amazing. I remember her mentioning that her daughter’s name was Gracie. She connected with us genuinely and made our anniversary feel truly special.
What could have been a disappointing change of plans became an unforgettable family experience. This was the best service I have ever received from a hotel staff. We will absolutely return!
This was my second time staying at Mission Bay, but first time during the summer and it was great. The hotel alone offers a lot of amenities, but during the summer they offer so many other fun activities like movies by the pool, a kids bar, a happy hour boat ride, but the one that stood out the most was the EZ Sketch Bot. This was An AI-powered robotic sketch bot that drew your sketch in about 60 second and drew you in the scene of your choice, my daughter chose pirates for our family. It's wonderful to see how much thought and effort is being place on making your stay a fun experience for the entire family.
I was very disappointed with this stay as it did not live up to the photos or what is expected of a Hyatt. The first room we got was musty/moldy, and I asked to be moved because I couldn't stand the smell. The second room was better and brighter but still outdated. It also got damp because there was no fan in the bathroom. The AC ran nonstop. The pool was murky and so overcrowded (no where to even sit!), and the food at the restaurant was gross and overpriced. The parking lot filled up at night and left us nowhere to park. Despite complaining and parking far away on the street, we were still charged $55/night even though we had a negotiated group rate of $25/night. One night I was charged both $25 and $55. We complained and that was corrected, but it should not have happened at all. This was the worst Hyatt we have stayed at, and we won't be returning.
Family-friendly atmosphere. Complimentary smores, boat ride, beach supplies, and activities.
We booked the hotel primarily for the waterslides. Specifically the small slide. The small slide was never open and on our final two days, one of the large slides was down. Our young daughter didn’t enjoy the large slides without a parent going down on the other side, so we ended up barely enjoying the slides during our stay. Food and drinks at The Pelican were overpriced for the quality.
my stay was good as always, I just wish they would check you in before 4:00pm other than that it was good. We are planning on coming back soon
Hyatt Regency always provides a quality experience. I was very pleased with the stay (although housekeeping service was a little inconsistent, nothing wrong with cleanliness, but it was like they would forget to replenish certain items).
The concierge and front office staff provided excellent customer service.
Hotel was very conveniently located to various places that we wanted to see in the greater San Diego area; nothing was more than 20-25 min away.
Hotel offers lots of fun things to do for families, like family movie night at the pool, S'mores in the evening, having ping pong and other lawn games.
Would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone who is looking for a family vacation.
Gorg a must-see property! The docks, the pools, the view, and the eats are all Amazing! LITERALLY GORGEOUS famous hideaway...Nfl players and parents in the pool love it !
We wanted a staycation but the pool area was rather small and very cold as the hotel formed a wind tunnel causing a lot of wind throughout the pool area. Given one pool and the hot tub were closed the pool area was quite crowded. The hotel is also located where the bigger boats dock so not a good spot to take the kids paddle boarding on the bay without having to drive elsewhere. The hotel itself is pretty nice and the staff was very friendly and helpful but we won’t be staycationing there again.
Very close to the beach. Very family friendly and safe area.
The staff are amazing, the view wonderful, the beds very comfortable! We had a “suite” and it was outdated, smelled gross and no vent fans in the bathrooms. There is also limited amenities such as a store, coffee that doesn’t close after 2:30 and no groceries near by.
