Everything about this hotel was excellent apart from the water slides and pool area being out of action
Good value room
There was no notice that the water slides and pool area where not working
The hotel from outside looks nice but once inside the staff looked sullen and service bad, everything is overpriced, and room was closer to a motel. We booked a suite and the room was in a sad shape. There was mold in sink and bathroom. The room smelled of smoke. There was little natural light. Sofa pull out bed looked unclean and sheets were musty. I would not recommend anyone to stay here.
Went for a big family reunion for 4 nights in July. We picked this location specifically for the pools and slides for the little kids and they were all shut down day 2. No financial compensation was offered, just extra shuttles to the beach. We won't be going back for sure.
We have been staying at the Hyatt Mission Bay for many years now and like other years, this trip did not disappoint. Staff reached out to us prior to our trip to confirm details and ages or our kids. They arranged to have a special treat delivered to the room for my husband's 50th birthday, which was a nice touch. The check in process was so easy to do on the Hyatt app and they were even able to accommodate an early check-in, which was so nice. Our room was clean and had everything we needed! We were initially disappointed to learn that the slides and hot tubs were under maintenance and would be unavailable for use, as that is a primary reason we choose this hotel. However, they made it right by offering our family 5 Unlimited Ride and Play Passes for Belmont Park, which we put to good use. That was a very nice touch and speaks to the level of customer service we've come to expect. We also participated in the complimentary kayaking on one of the days and this is always a favorite event! We love the close proximity to the beach and other restaurants. It's just a win all around! As soon as we leave, we are already looking forward to returning the next year.
Locatie, vriendelijk personeel
55 Dollar parking kosten/nacht
As a Hyatt rewards member, this hotel did not meet my expectations. Housekeeping was sporadic, pool was filthy, furniture was dated, food and beverage was overpriced.
It was clean, the location near the water was great and they had so many activities going on at the property.
Beware. The water slides aren't working. I was only told this after it was too late to rebook elsewhere. The staff are very kind, attentive, plentiful and skilled. The food poolside was exceptional.
Rooms were great
The pool/slide was t working
The hotel is wonderful. I do not recommend the Red Marlin for dinner. Bring your own libations as there isn’t a hotel bar. There is a pool bar but it closes early. Our room was facing Sea World so we got a view of the drone show. That was an unexpected surprise. The rooms are very comfortable and well maintained. It seems to be a very kid oriented facility which makes sense being so close to Sea World. But even given that it was peaceful.
We stayed here using Hyatt points with a Guest of Honor (GOH) award.
At check-in, I requested a high-floor room. I was told there were no Marina Suites available on a high floor and was initially assigned a first-floor room. After I asked if anything higher was available, the front desk agent was able to offer us a second-floor room instead.
Unfortunately, when we opened the door, we were immediately hit with an overwhelming musty, moldy smell. We left the door open for several minutes, hoping fresh air would help, but the odor never improved. It was honestly difficult to breathe. My husband, our four children, and I all commented on how strong it was. After sitting in the room for a few minutes, I started feeling sick and found myself trying to breathe through my mouth. The kids kept asking if the smell was ever going to go away.
At that point, I texted the front desk to ask if there was any possibility of moving rooms because we genuinely weren't feeling well.
This is where our experience completely turned around.
I spoke with a female manager who called right away and was absolutely wonderful. She listened to our concerns with kindness and immediately worked to find another option. I asked if it would be possible to move to the Tower, and she graciously upgraded us to a beautiful corner King Suite and even arranged for an additional rollaway bed for our family. As a Guest of Honor, it was so reassuring to experience that level of care. She truly rescued our stay.
Our new room was fresh, clean, comfortable, and had incredible views. We could finally relax (breathe!) and enjoy our vacation.
The excellent service didn't stop there. John, the bellman, was incredibly helpful in moving all of our belongings from the Marina Suites to the Tower. Later, after we had settled into our Tower room, one of the housekeeping staff came to our new room because one of our children had accidentally left an Apple Watch behind. She had found it while cleaning and personally returned it to us just as we realized it was missing. That level of honesty and care deserves recognition.
The remainder of our stay was fantastic, and because of the exceptional service we received, we would absolutely consider staying here again.
That said, I would personally only book a room in the Tower. The moldy, musty odor in the Marina Suites room we were originally assigned was simply too strong to ignore and didn't seem healthy. Perhaps it was isolated to that particular room, but unfortunately, it left such a negative first impression that I wouldn't feel comfortable staying in the Marina Suites building again.
I sincerely appreciate the female customer service rep/manager (I wish I could remember her name), and the housekeeping team for turning what started as a very disappointing experience into a memorable and enjoyable stay.
Super cute and clean hotel with great views and amenities. Very relaxing stay. Family friendly with activities on site. Super close to everything
The room was clean had enough space, location was good.
We chosen this hotel because of there water slides and hot tub that wre not working the 2 days we wanted to use them. Reasons we're not given.
Activities were lacking in comparison to other places we stayed at. Coffee machine could not be plugged in at the corner it was in, I had to carry it to the desk. Coffee supplies was not replaced daily i had to make a request.
Also we had an issue with the shuttle to sea world it could only carry 6 people we were told and no mention of come early was given.. there where 2 family's ahead of us so we drove. There is more like bath tub in room was peeling.
I think next time in san diego we will go somewhere else!

We had a spacious corner room with stunning views from every window. Perfect to experience July 4th. Enjoyed the boat trip around the bay. Most of all the staff were delightful everywhere. Especially in the Red Marlin where we started every day for a delicious breakfast.
The view, the beds, the location.
We didn’t get a room until almost 5 pm despite being at the property at 11:00 am. While we checked bags and used the pool area it was frustrating to not have a room sooner and certainly not one available upon check in time since we were only staying one night.
As a Hyatt Globalist, I’ve stayed at many Hyatt properties and generally know what to expect from the brand. Unfortunately, our stay at the Hyatt Regency Mission Bay was extremely disappointing, especially given the price point. We paid around $800 for a suite, and the room felt extremely dated and not at all in line with what I would expect from a Hyatt Regency at that rate.
The biggest issue was the smell. The room had a musty odor, and the couch in particular noticeably smelled, which made the suite feel uncomfortable and not very clean. We also booked what was described as a “water view,” but the view was largely obstructed by the market and gym, so it did not feel like the upgrade or experience we expected.
Another frustration was that the suites were not located in the main hotel building. They were in a separate, motel-like building that felt much more comparable to a budget roadside hotel than a resort property. For the price and brand standard, that was really unacceptable.
There were a few positives: the pool bar was nice, the water slides were fun for the kids, and breakfast at Red Marlin was good. That said, the pool area was very crowded, and those positives did not make up for the condition and setup of the room.
Overall, it felt disgraceful to charge this much for a suite that was so old, musty, and underwhelming. As a loyal Hyatt guest, this was one of the more disappointing Hyatt stays we’ve had, and we would not stay here again.
We have stayed at the Hyatt Regency Marina several times over the last year. We are always greeted by Oz and the front desk team. Oz always goes out of his way to make sure our stay is perfect. The location is great and on the bay where you can rent boats. paddle boards, kayaks.... There are many walking/biking paths just outside the hotel. It is a quick uber to downtown San Diego, Seaworld , other areas around the bay.
