Excelente ubicación.
Pros:

There are much better and safer options
Pros:

Ok, this review is mixed and covers our 9 days in the hotel on a work trip.
The good - Cleaning staff try their best and are friendly. restaurant staff are the same but food is ordinary.

The bad....hold your hat.
- Hotel is very tired and run down. black mould int eh shower, peeling wall paper, corners of the room and other hard to vacuum areas are filthy.
- In the 9 days there was never a time where we didn't get bombarded with dope smoke in front of the hotel. It was so bad we both wound up with sore throats from all the smoke.
- 5pm on a week day we saw a man pants down urinating against the hotel entry.
Homeless people gather around the hotel making it unsafe for solo female travelers....pretty much any time, but especially at night.
- Followed from the hotel by a man at the hotel entry screaming about Jesus.
- Saw a man vomiting next to the hotel entry....remained uncleaned for 3 days.
- Garbage at front of the hotel, remained uncleaned for the duration of our stay.

Now the one that REALLY pissed me off. This was a high stress work trip, My wife called the hotel to make sure they could take a delivery, she organised for a hamper to be int eh room on my arrival (after 40 hours of flying and trains)....a lovely surprise...but not in a good way. The hamper did not arrive. The supplier sent through photos clearly showing the floor on the hotel mailroom, stated exactly what the courier did and where it was dropped (in accordance with hotel signage).

The mailroom manager on duty Saturday 14/3 struggled. He spent 30+ minutes reviewing the email from the courier 3 times, stating it had not been delivered, it was delivered to the wrong address, it was left somewhere else etc etc. I asked him to find a manger, which he finally did on the 2nd attempt. The duty manager (approx. 7pm 14/3) can only be described as aggressive and unprofessional.

Despite their distinctive floor being clearly visible in the photo from the courier and the wheel of the mailroom trolley being visible, he denied all responsibility with numerous excuses.....the courier must have dropped it randomly int eh hotel (despite the concierge being at the entry and the statement from the courier), it had not been delivered yet, could not tell if it was there hotel etc etc. He then promised to call the courier and call me back....never happened.

The most likely scenario is that they took delivery and sent it to the wrong room. Absolutely disgusting behaviour from the duty manager and mailroom manager and really summed up this hotel.

Do yourself a favour, look at the Westin New York Grand Central, much cleaner and just down the road or the iconic Westgate New York Grand Central. Both cheaper, cleaner and less BS.

Great location - Not Helpful
Pros:

A hotel right in the middle of it all - Loved the location and the room - We did have trouble with no hot water the first night of our 3 night stay - We found out the hot water was off between 9pm and 1pm and when we called the front desk they said it was a Manhattan wide outage - We called 311 and they knew nothing about it - Called the front desk again and they said this time it was because of the steam in the subway - Said they sent out a letter but we never got it - The lack of communication and assistance was very disappointing - The rest of our stay was fine - Would stay again

Great hotel as long as you are not in a wheelchair
Pros:

The location is 5*convenient right outside Grand Central Station. The rooms are in great condition, comfy beds also 5* Our travel agent suggested it was suitable for a wheelchair user, it is not. Which is why I gave it 3* Access to the hotel is not a problem and the rooms are large enough. However the shower is impossible for a wheelchair user, the manager did show us a number of different rooms but all had the same issue. We were offered free breakfasts as compensation and then charged for them at checkout

Highly Recommend! 5 Star Stay
Pros:

The Grand Hyatt is in the ideal location for a trip to NYC. All places in Manhattan are accessible via walking or a subway ride. The hotel staff was friendly and responsive. The rooms were in great condition. It was a positive experience from start to finish.

Disgraceful customer service.
Pros:

Comfortable bed

Cons:

There was no hot water. They knew about the problem when I checked in but didn’t disclose it. There was no offer to move to a sister hotel or a discount. I was told ‘well at least you had a bed’

Worst mistake staying here
Pros:

Run don’t walk from this hotel to the next nearest one. It was a horrible experience. Their lights are outdated and don’t always work. Their alarmwoke me up in the middle of the night cause they don’t reset it between the next person and it was difficult to figure out how to use. didn’t even charge my phone even though it had USB ports the showerhead is tiny and has horrible water pressure oh, and by the way, they turned off all the hot water the next day from peak hours of 9 PM until the afternoon so after walk 50,000 steps in the New York streets, we couldn’t even take a shower. It was horrible. They offered barely any apology. No refund nothing. They just left a note in our hotel room saying sorry no hot water. Good luck with your life. I hate this hotel. I would never stay here again. It was a horrible experience and by the way you might think oh the hot water thing won’t happen to me but yes, it will because it happens every time they have to be repair repairs on Grand Central

Exceptional stay, outstanding team, and one of the best suites in Midtown
Pros:

I had an exceptional stay at Hyatt Grand Central New York. The location next to Grand Central makes it incredibly convenient for getting around the city, and the property offers a great balance of comfort and accessibility in Midtown Manhattan.

As a World of Hyatt Globalist member, the recognition and hospitality from the team were excellent from arrival through the entire stay. The staff really made the experience stand out. A special thank you to Mr. David Ocampo for their warm and attentive service.

The suites at this property are truly among the best in the Midtown area. The space, layout, and comfort made a big difference and turned the stay into a very relaxing experience after long days in the city. It was definitely the highlight of my visit.

I also appreciated how the team paid attention to details, from taking care of the room to accommodating my breakfast preferences and even helping look into network options for better internet connectivity. That level of care makes a stay feel personalized and thoughtful.

Overall, Hyatt Grand Central New York is a fantastic choice for anyone visiting New York, whether for business or leisure. Great location, comfortable suites, and most importantly, a team that genuinely cares about guest experience. I would gladly stay here again on my next trip to the city.

Good value central location
Pros:

Well located above Grand Central, a large hotel with efficient service and good quality rooms, albeit a bit tired (but note in moderate condition ie pretty good). Fitness centre is well
equipped and can handle a crowd during peak hour. Good value.

Pros:

Location was great, connected to Grand Central, very convenient and in a central location. The staff were all very pleasant.

Cons:

The rooms were very outdated. Seemed like they made weird upgrades to very old rooms. Also at time the water was brownish which was concerning.

Acceptable overall, with further rooms for improvement
Pros:

When we checked in, the body wash is almost empty, it became completely empty after one pump, and there are a few moth flies in the washroom, this only occurs at places are wet and dirty.

Hyatt from hell!
Pros:

Having flown from England to the US and then by train to the city, we were looking forward to getting to
Our hotel on our very first night in NYC. Upon checking Claudia on Reception was unwelcoming. We mentioned that one of our party had a fear of heights and had pre requested a low room floor. Claudia said there was no note on the system and the best she could do was a 15th floor. Obviously all comms when making the booking were ignored

When entering the room couple 1 found faeces in the toilet bowl and the shower which you needed to take a brisk run in order to get wet! The bed was broken and their heads were lower than their legs when trying to sleep. This coupled with a freezing cold room and the sounds of city cascading into the room felt like we were sleeping on the street.

Couple 2’s room was very dated, chipped frames which had been badly painted over, dust on the tables, peeling wallpaper, condensation dripping down the windows and pooling on the windowsill. The bathroom was tiny with cheap outdated wooden sink cabinets that was peeling. There was one cheap
Office chair at the desk/vanity unit. The shower controls were coming off the wall. Also no tea or coffee making facilities or complimentary water in the room.

We were due to stay for 4 nights but after our first night we decided to book a different hotel at an additional cost. When we went to check out, we spoke to Claudia again on reception and said we were checking out early and she didn’t even ask why. I said don’t you even want to know why we are checking out early? She then listened briefly claiming she was make notes but she didn’t. Her response was “well it is due to be demolished” as if that made it acceptable When we pointed out she wasn’t making any notes she just walked off saying she was going to get a manager. Manager Will was very understanding and apologetic and took on board our complaint. I showed him photos I had taken also. However as we had booked through BA there wasn’t much he could do. This is at most a 2/3 star hotel. My recommendation is do not stay here. Even the doorman was apologetic when we said we were leaving.
