Golden Pearl Tangalle Beach

We spent 3 days at this fabulous property. We loved the location - the sea was perfect for swimming and the pool was nice too. In front of the beach is a lovely lawned area with trees which is perfect for those of us who like a bit of shade. The rooms were large (we had a sea view room) and well equipped. You should be prepared to be self sufficient - the staff are inexperienced and shy so aren’t proactive in clearing tables or offering drinks - they prefer to hide inside. You have to ask if you want towels or a drink or if you want glasses cleared from a table so you can sit down (the glasses stayed on the tables all morning with all manner of staff members just walking past them). The cleaning staff on the other hand do work very hard and do a great job. I would 100% stay here again at this wonderful property but don’t expect to be waited on.

Great hotel in an ideal position. Hotel is pretty new and the upkeep is excellent.
Located right on the beach front only a couple of minutes walk from some good restaurants.

Beautiful small hotel situated on a lovely beach. The hotel is within easy walking distance of Tangalle town and harbour and lots of beach bars and restaurants.
Very large rooms with king size comfortable beds. It is worth paying extra for a sea view room with a huge balcony. You even get a sea view from the shower! Attractive foyer with large pool with fish and turtles.
Lovely clean swimming pool with a jacuzzi at one end. Pool towels supplied and you can take your sun bed down to the beach.

We felt the place was very overpriced, across the board. The food and drink prices are over the top, considering you are surrounded by good, cheap food in other places, outside the hotel. Cant fault the hotel for cleanliness though. Rooms and bathroom included. We opted for the less expensive room, with no seaview. Although, even this room was vastly overpriced and not worth it, at around 60 USD. The upgrade to sea view room is pricey, but if you insist of staying here, you should get the room with a view. Otherwise find something else. Our room was facing the road and the side facing balcony, was looking at a run-down roof top. These non seaview rooms should be half the price that they are, for what you get. Wifi signal was poor throughout the stay. We were quite shocked at how unclean the pool was. You could clearly see green algae build up and was fairly murky. Not good enough for a hotel of this standard and price. Breakfast was ok, but no traditional options. Just english style breakfast options, which most of it was cold (buffet).
Overall, there is no value for money at this place. Especially the standard (non view rooms). The hotel is beach front, with loungers and so it's in a decent spot.

Gorgeous property right on the beach. The hotel is beautifully designed, and as it’s only a year old everything is clean, fresh and new. We had a huge room on the second floor overlooking the pool & beach, easily fit our family of 4 with room to spare. Service is wonderful, and the owner is really lovely. He’s also an experienced chef and the food is some of the best we’ve had in Sri Lanka. The most memorable meal of our month-long trip was dinner on the beach from the special menu. So much beautiful food! If you’re in Tangalle, there’s no better place to stay or eat. Can not praise it highly enough.

Room is space

Located directly on the beach, plenty of chairs to lounge under the shade of the trees. The food was good when you ordered local food, and there are plenty of dining options around. The pool did not look so clean, playing in the waves was way better ! There are two hostels neighbouring this property with drinking and dining options with seating on the beach, so expect people coming and going frequently.
The rooms are spacious and I would recommend the seafront ones with private balcony overlooking the sea.

very helpful, friendly staff, best hotel room of our trip, fantastic shower, comfy bed. Had really good food and service, restaurant price was reasonable for the area. Very good buffet breakfast. Great pool, right on quiet unspoiled beach. shops and bars on doorstep. Would definitely come back here for stay

Nice hotel. Great location. Girl at reception was absolutely lovely! Was a little overpriced for what it was though and we had a free upgrade.

This brand new hotel is a true pearl of Tangalle! Beautiful decor, huge rooms and a very helpful and accommodating staff. We were initially given a standard room (the only one available on Hotels.com at the time of booking), located on the ground floor. It was huge and comfortable but without a sea view it was a bit dark. We asked for an upgrade to a seaview and it was well worth the extra 22 $ per night. The view was amazing!
The hotel is located right at the beach so you can choose between swimming in the ocean and relaxing in the pool.
Breakfasts were nice (yoghurt and cereals, fresh fruit, cold meat, cheese, egg of your choice, fresh juices or smoothies) and dinners very tasty and portions massive. And mango juice: best ever!
The only negative comment: unreliable WiFi on upper floor.
There is no lift so the hotel not suitable for disabled customers, but otherwise perfect. 4 stars. Highly recommended.
