Five nights. One room cleaning. No do-not-disturb sign. Ever.
The DoubleTree in South Bend services stay-over rooms between 5:30 and 8 p.m., a policy I had never encountered at any hotel before this visit. I get that rooms must be made ready for incoming guests, but it didn't matter anyway: my room was cleaned exactly once during my five-night stay, despite never blocking access and even delaying my evening shower past 8 p.m. just to ensure I wouldn't miss housekeeping's knock. I called several times and was told that my message was shared with the housekeeping staff.
I fault management and policy, not the individuals cleaning the rooms. But someone needs to hire more people and change their policy.
The problems don't stop there. One elevator sat out of service the entire stay with no visible repair progress. The gym equipment was outdated and, in some cases, broken. And on multiple nights, children were allowed to play loud hockey in the interior courtyard well past 10 p.m. Calls to the front desk did nothing.
For the price of a Hilton property, guests deserve basic hospitality. This hotel isn't delivering it.

The room itself was nice and bed was comfortable.
Barely any hot water, our tub wouldn’t close to fill up, no light above our shower, the lobby was freezing, only two working elevators and you can only have two or three buttons pushed or they got canceled out.
Excellent breakfast, great location for Notre Dame.

The hotel was clean. The room was very nice and comfortable. The staff was helpful and friendly.
The restaurant and bar area was so cold that we had to keep our coats on. We ate breakfast at a different restaurant due to the cold.

I know it's far north Indiana and it gets cold but holy moly I was cold the whole weekend. But as massive as the hotel is I'm sure it's hard to heat

Hotel staff were great! Very friendly and helpful. The only thing I wasn’t pleased with was $18 breakfast buffet that was not worth the price. It’s the same food you get at hotels offering free breakfast. The hotel was clean, my overall experience was great! I would definitely stay there again

I don’t have an issue with hotel rooms being more expensive on game day but $900 per night should come with a ceiling that doesn’t leak and then cave in on you. Ridiculous! Even worse, I was told someone would contact me to discuss a discount. It’s been a week and still nothing but crickets. Stay somewhere else!
