So much potential
Pros:

Got a room to use the pool with kids. Unfortunately, the atrium temperature was so cold that the kids could only stay in the pool for a few minutes. (Room temperature was probably around 65 degrees). Pool water also could be warmer. There is no hot tub anymore. The hotel itself needs a lot of cosmetic work and is quite the ghost town with no music and what looks like the restaurant area appears to be closed down. Such a shame because it could be such a nice place.

Rundown property with an unprofessional and racist front desk person.
Pros:

The place is rundown and front desk staff Julie was extremely rude, unprofessional, racist, and violated ADA rules regarding my service animal. So if you are a person of color/minority, I wouldn’t recommend booking a stay or attending an event at this place.

Also, It’s supposed to be non smoking property. However, people were constantly smoking in the interior common areas outside of their rooms, including marijuana. The smell of tabaco and marijuana was everywhere. Yet, nothing was said to them or done to make them stop.

In addition, there were many dogs staying at the facility and one kept barking non stop. Who knows which one out of the six I counted soiled in the hall. This Julie person claimed it was my service dog with no visual proof.

She also told me that my service dog was just a comfort dog and not a service animal. I tried to show her documents but she refused to look at them.

Instead she was so unprofessional that she approached the event organizer and told them to ban me from attending future events. Not her place or business to do that.

Unbelievable. We stayed there last year with my service dog without incident as all hotels, restaurants, and air planes, we frequent. Not this year because this woman chose me; the only non white person with a service dog staying there.

Just OK
Pros:

Room was clean and adequate, but it is getting a little shabby and worn. A lot of the amenities on the website (like breakfast buffet or continental breakfast included are no longer offered, but they did not edit the website.

Pros:

Tub drain backed-up, no shower liner, coffee station's sugar and creamer were ancient (creamer was solid, sugar was all stuck together). Bottom drawer of the dresser was broken.
On the good side, nice sized room, clean, very comfortable bed. Bathroom and room cleaniness was good!

Pros:

Place has potential but left to seed. The place is falling apart and there are no for food services.. No refrigerator, no microwave, no bars in the tub. Stayed here over 30 years ago and the place is has really deteriorated.

Pros:

Place needs to be updated. Room was big and dreary. A/C ran all night and the water spout for the tub was pulled away from the wall an inch. Lots of carpet everywhere. Beautiful grounds and conveniently located for the area though. For the price I'll most likely not return if other Hotels are available.

Pros:

This hotel has amazing potential but is very run down at the moment. The pictures online are very deceiving. We checked into the Executive suite and were shocked at the conditions. There was black mold along the base of the bathtub, the ceiling paint was chipping and falling on our bed, the curtains were broken and falling, the list goes on. We went to the front desk with our concerns. The staff member Wendy was extremely helpful in trying to rectify the situation. She reassigned us to three different rooms until we settled on the least disgusting of the four we looked at. I realize that this hotel is under new management and is slowly being upgraded but it is not worth the amount we were charged for it. I would like to see compensation from them or from Hotels.com for the recommendation to stay here.

Pros:

Had stayed there many times over the years and it was always perfect. However this time it was seriously disappointing! All restaurants in the hotel and on the grounds were now closed. Bar was open. Parking lots and entry road in deplorable condition. Potholes everywhere! Previously immaculate gardens in densely weeded condition. The hallways in the wing we were assigned had scraped off paint on the walls, stained rugs and smelled of mildew and what appeared to be "pot". When hotel told about the "pot" smell they just shrugged their shoulders and acted like it wasn't the 1st time they've heard it. Had to ask for additional towels as they only gave you 1 towel of each size for a 2 day stay per person. Did not use draws as they had a strong mildew odor. Didn't use the pool.
On the plus side, room inside was clean and bed was very comfortable. Desk staff was pleasent put appeared apologetic. We were told hotel was being purchased and will be slowly upgraded. Lake view was still lovely even though the piers were damaged and unusable .
Have great hope this property will someday be restored to its former glory.

Pros:

This property feels like one of the last standing resorts from its glory days. While it could definitely use some extra upkeep, it wasn’t a bad place to stay at all. The charm and unique location made it feel more like an experience than just a stay. Staff was limited, especially with dining hours, but there were plenty of great food options nearby to make up for it.
