Stayed for 2 nights in a premium club room. The room is spacious but definitely shows its age. There is significant wear and tear throughout. There is a nespresso machine but no kettle. I tried to make a cup of tea and the only hot water available was from the coffee machine which tasted of coffee. There is no mini bar. The room was very dark, with 2 windows facing a wall. It was quite depressing. It was the worse room I have ever had in any IC hotel.
Breakfast had a nice spread and was nice apart from drinks and lack of service. The only coffee available throughout the hotel was from a nespresso machine. To me, a hotel that does not even have the option of proper coffee cannot be considered 5 stars. Teas were not great either in the restaurant but they did have lovely teas in the lounge. There was plenty of staff in the restaurant but was difficult to get anyone’s attention. It took over 15 minutes to be able to order a coffee on the first day. We also had to move tables as the table we were shown to had crumbs on it. Staff is however very friendly.
Overall, very disappointing. I am very loyal to IC but I would actually stay elsewhere when in Madrid. I did mention I was disappointed with the room at check out and they acknowledged it’s not great. Why give it to a loyal guest in the first place?
What a lovely property many thanks all the staff of the hotel the suite was well maintained and clean the club is a must for the stay. We will come back for sure
The Intercontinental is an impressive building...modelled on an a centuries-old palace on the site. Its public rooms are very comfortable and elegant. The design however puts the restaurant and the bar on a floor midway between Floor ) and Floor 1, and you have to make your way up some steps...there is no elevator stop in the main elevators. A small private elevator is available. We enjoyed our times in the bar area, listening to the musicians play - especially a wonderful pianist! But we were given one of the smallest rooms we've ever had - about 10 feet wide and skinny all the way down through the bath area. One suitcase support was supplied, and the onther suitcase had to go on the floor - there was not enough room for another support...The shower was very difficult to manage. There was one table with one plain workchair. That was it!! It was described as a Classic Room - Queen Bed....NOT anything like the pictures on the website! Take care with your reservation...and maybe conside one or more of the nearby hotels and just go to the Intercontinental for a drink or brunch!
Excellent hotel and first class
service. Special thanks to D. Rojas in the Club Lounge for her smiles and perfect service .
Club Lounge experience was incredible with Deyanira Rojas every morning for breakfast! Her genuine smile was a wonderful start to the day.
Great location close to restaurants and shopping. Staff was professional yet friendly and the hotel was kept beautifully clean. Breakfast was my favorite meal, wide selection and a young woman named Deyanira from Peru made sure that our coffee cups were never empty and kept us with anything we may have wanted from the kitchen. We felt very welcome during a time when many Americans were unsure of traveling and if visiting Madrid again we would definitely stay at this hotel with these wonderful people again.
Beautiful and luxurious hotel in Madrid. The club, especially, is a delight, with nice food at breakfast and dinner and exceptional service from Deyanira and Jose Antonio.
We stayed here for a couple of days in April 2026 and it was among the best hotel stays we have had in our lives. We chose the Intercontinental in part because it was a preferred hotel with our Chase credit card but also because we had a similarly positive experience with an Intercontinental Hotel in Athens more than a decade ago. From the moment we arrived the service was increddibly attentive. While nearly every staff person we interacted with spoke English fluently, they were patient with our attempts to speak our limited Spanish and even encouraged us. They also were consistently responsive and friendly about every thing we needed, and often suggested things before we could even ask for them. I simply cannot say enough about our experience of this hotel. Staying here was worth the trip to Madrid in itself!
Deyanira at club lounge was excellent. She’s one of the reason we would be coming back at Intercon.
Wonderful hotel with fantastic staff and superb executive lounge.
El hotel es impecable.
El equipo humano tiene una actitud impresionante hacia los clientes, desde el botones, la recepción, las personas del piso en las habitaciones y los meseros en el desayuno !
Good location and delicious breakfast, The reception staff’s was really helpful and answered any questions. Definitely will back again and recommend.

I recently stayed at intercontinental Madrid , and it was an amazing experience from start to finish.
The staff went above and beyond-everyone was
friendly, helpful, and genuinely welcoming. I especially appreciated the Lounge for check-in process and upgrade my room
Also The food and service at the Lounge was outstanding
Thanks everyone in the Lounge specially Deyanira Rajas
Really I can’t wait for my next stay
Location. Friendly.
We spent four nights in Intercontinental Madrid for Easter holiday. The location was great, less than 10 mins walk to Serrano for designer brands, and with many nice restaurants nearby. One day took a walk back from Plaza de Espana after dinner, it was relaxed and easy.
We loved the Club Lounge, which served breakfast, tea, and happy hours. Special shout out to Deyanira Rojas, a lovely Peruvian, she was super welcoming and attentive to details.
We will come back next time.
