Went to New York for my dream short break. The hotel is ideally situated, close to most attractions. The staff are super helpful and friendly. The room was amazing and the breakfast ( included in the price) was second to none. I had the most amazing experience in NYC and staying at The Intercontinental Barclay was the icing on the cake. Thoroughly recommend 👍👍👍
Elegant, clean, good rooms
No bars, restaurants or lounges except for the breakfast area
I experienced a few issues during my stay, but Dominic handled everything professionally and made it right. His excellent service and genuine care completely turned my experience around. He is a great asset to your team.
As a cancer patient who had recently left the hospital, my wife and I were simply looking for pleasent accomodations to unwind in before heading home.
We are an IHG family and enjoy Diamond Elite status, yet this was the first time we had the pleasure of staying at the Intercontinental Barclay.
What an experience. From learning about the iconic 100 year history of the Barclay, to enjoying world class accomodations and having the pleasure to work with the most professional staff at every level.
We look forward to returning and highly recommend that travelers to NYC experience the luxery, grace, history and style that is The Intercontinental Barclay.
Located centrally on the east side of Manhattan, the Intercontinental has a beautiful atmosphere, both in the lobby and in the guest rooms. There was ample space for both of us, especially considering one of us was in NYC for business and the other for a social event. Everyone we dealt with was pleasant and helpful, making our short stay both memorable and efficient!
Great location, friendly staff & enjoyed our stay.
Great location but very noisy from the street below. I think these old buildings must just be single glazed windows. The room and beds were quite small for 4 people. Also the bathroom was pretty small. Room was well serviced and comfortable though. We didn’t have breakfast here but did have some drinks and snacks from the lobby bar which were nice but of course pricey considering the location and standard of hotel.
The staff were nice, friendly and helpful.
Stayed here with family for an event. We wanted to get away from Times Square but still be central to attractions. This was a personal stay, but we had a Virtuoso package through my employer that included access to the club lounge and that was well worth it. The access to waters and little snacks from the club was nice. The breakfast each day was excellent. We also enjoyed the little happy hour in the evening in the club. It was also nice to have club level access just to have a quieter place to lounge away from the busier lobby.
We walked to almost everything from the hotel and the location was very convenient. Our room was well appointed but we could hear traffic in the hallway very easily, almost as clearly as people walking by were in our room. But you have to give some grace for noise in a place like New York. The hotel lobby had outrageously expensive drink prices but that should also be expected for New York, probably the same prices as the rest of the places around town. We had a very lovely time at the Barclay and we would certainly stay here again.
The Hotel was amazing.!
Central, clean, and quiet, with a staff that was first rate
So why didn’t I give it a rating of 5/5 ?
Prior to checking out after an incredible stay I went to verify my invoice ( lucky I did) and discovered that their was a charge on my bill for breakfast of more then $ 60.00 !
Keep in mind not only did I not eat breakfast at the hotel, I never even stepped into the restaurant.
I felt this to be dishonest and left me with a bad taste concerning the hotel. The charge was eventually removed after a discussion as the hotel had no proof in the computer that I was there. I never even received an apology as if it’s common practice and happens often.
Everything about the room was good. Two suggestions, have more than one person at the front desk in the morning and have water available for guests (especially when the temp outside is 100)
Super lokalizacja, komfortowo, wygodne łóżka, bardzo czysto i pachnąco, obsługa przemiła i uczynna
Todo excelente u ubicación y las instalaciones
Our family of 4 (8 & 10) loved every minute at The Barclay! The service was exceptional, the location was so walkable and meeting Bowie was the icing on the cake! Highly recommended by us all!
I have encountered incorrect hotel charges before, but those were usually accidental billing mistakes. This was very different: an additional $10 tip/gratuity was written on my receipt without my authorization, even though an 18% service charge had already been included. This is not an accidental mistake.
The $10 has already been refunded, and I am not seeking any compensation. I just hope the hotel properly investigates this and does not tolerate this kind of conduct.
Actually, I did not view this as a high-end hotel, and I did not come in with high expectations. Also, this is NYC, so I never expect exceptional service. But this was still unacceptable.
For our breakfast, an 18% service fee was already automatically included, so I did not leave an additional tip. However, when I checked out, I noticed an extra $10 charge. After reviewing the receipt, we realized that the waiter had added a $10 tip himself.
The waiter serving our breakfast was rude and provided essentially no service. The only interaction we had with him was when we asked, “Can we get some more orange juice?” Even then, when he refilled the juice, he spilled a few drops and did not seem to care at all. But as I said, this is NYC, and we are used to it, so we were not going to complain about that alone. However, with service like this, we certainly were not going to leave an additional tip on top of the already-included 18% service fee.
I honestly cannot believe something like this could happen at an IHG hotel. The front desk immediately issued a refund, but has no apology at all. This was my first time in my life experiencing something like this, and I will definitely never visit this place again.
