I stayed here one month a go and paid for my deposit via Apple Pay - one month later I couldn't. I had to call a friend for they credit card if not book a new hotel

Staff said booking was unpaid yet I showed booking.com payment receipt. Charged me for room any how. So I currently have 3x the room charge outstanding on my card

The Barclay was everything and more we hoped for in celebrating our 10th anniversary. I am so grateful I did my research and chose The Barclay. The hotel was truly a haven for us during a very crazy NBA title weekend in NYC. From check in to check out they thought of everything. I paid for Lounge access and it was worth it. The breakfast was amazing and a quiet respite from the rest of the hotel. They even placed 2 beautiful pink sparkly cupcakes in our room with two bottles of water the first night for our anniversary with a hand written note. Every single person was nice and more than accommodating. The valet got us cabs right outside the hotel! They checked on us via text to make sure all was well. The only thing I would see a slight need for improvement on was the hand held shower wand head needed a deep cleaning. It was dirty (mold). But other than that no complaints. The bed was amazing! The most comfortable we have ever experienced in a hotel. Thank you Barclay! We will remember our experience forever!

Cons:

Never stayed in a 5 star hotel before that does not provide drinking water. When we spoke to them two days later about the water they gave us a bottle each which was nice but I've stayed at many InterContinentals and this did not meet the standards of the others I have previously stayed at. Rooms are VERY small, our phone didn't work to call reception. We also arrived really late and the man who checked us in was very miserable.

Hotel is OK (LOVED Valet and Room service staff)

I will not blame the Hotel for my inability to use my Ambassador Certificate for the weekend, but it did not help with the property.

The front desk and the manager were helpful in trying to explain the Ambassador issue to me.

Valet was AMAZING !!! Great person helping my wife and I with our bags and information about what was going on. 5 Stars *****

We called for Room service - 6 stars ****** - They were sooooooo nice and helpful and just over the top with service.

Now the downfall and 3-star review. We had someone next door who had their TV very loud. Let me say this, my wife needs hearing aids, and I have hearing issues from the Army, so for us to hear it was an issue. We tried knocking on the door of the room, but there was no answer. We called the front desk and asked them to do something. NOTHING WAS DONE! I know the person was probably an issue to begin with, as we heard a few hotel staff come to the room (Engineering and housekeeping a couple of times). We even called again to ask if they could do a welfare check, as we were not sure how someone could sleep with the TV so loud. NOTHING WAS DONE!

There was also an old Band-Aid on the floor in the check-in area. Hey, I get it, you can not catch everything, but for an InterContinental and the price point, you would hope for more.

I am a Diamond Elite and Ambassador, so I have been to many properties. I have to say this was a major letdown. I would stay again, possibly if the need arose, but I will not be making any effort to come back.

This is more for IHG in general, and hopefully, this is seen. Work on the Ambassador Weekend Certificate. This was totally unacceptable for this to occur. I can go into more detail with someone. Yes, I called the Diamond Concierge, and there was little done to rectify the situation. Work on the wording of your Website and the explanations, and when you call customer service, ensure you complete the certificate properly. Let's make sure they are well-versed in how it is done and not to spread incorrect information, which could cost someone over $600 in extra charges.
