This is a well run hotel with a well trained staff. Exceptional is not good enough to describe the breakfast buffet. We travel a lot and this is among the very best for quality and variety.
There's no heat in the room. I was cold often. We were told that the entire hotel has either heat or air conditioning and it was set for cooling, not heating.
Good Location
A lot. Starting with checking in, I arrived around noon and was told I could not check in before 2 pm. When I asked if rooms were available I was told they were and I offered to pay a fee to check in since I was tired but was told they did not allow that. Even when I went up at 155 pm I was told to wait 5 minutes and that is just downright rude for a major chain, But the worst was to happen. I was very tired and went to sleep early and was woken by someone from the hotel in my room which really frightened me and when I went to speak to the manager the next day was never connected to them. 2 days later a letter was left on my door with a meager apology. This was very poor service overall.
The Westin is a lovely hotel perfectly situated in the center of Zagreb. We stayed here with our dog, and the staff couldn't have been more welcoming. Unfortunately, our dog got carsick and threw up at the reception right as we arrived. The staff was incredibly kind and handled the situation without any fuss, making a stressful moment much easier for us. They even went the extra mile by preparing a large pillow and dog bowls in the room.
The rooms offer decent value for the price, and the breakfast was tasty. My only critique is that it felt quite crowded during breakfast due to a large tour group, which made for a bit of a struggle. Overall, a great stay!
"While our stay had its highlights, the carpeting makes traveling with a dog difficult and is a concern for guests with allergies. Furthermore, the booking system for in-room breakfast was non-functional or unclear, preventing us from enjoying a meal in our room.
