We had been stranded in a Houston airport for 2 days due to plane cancelations and delays. We had missed a connecting flight to KC as a result. We had been in that Houston airport with no luggage, so that meant no clothes, no bed, no toiletries for hygiene. We had our 4yo with us. Our hotels and rental car in KC had been prepaid and we were refused refunds even with travel protection because it was weather related. We were at that point, down $600. United refused to give a hotel voucher also due to delays. So we booked online the IAH Marriot since it was on site and we would be able to get back to the airport terminal quickly in the morning for our rebooked confirmed flight. When we arrived we were told 10 families were ahead of us and we could not check into our room until 3pm. It was roughly about 10am or so. We had no car, and still no luggage etc. We had nowhere to go. We were exhausted, hungry, and felt gross from sleeping on the airport floor. My phone number was confirmed and we were told we would get a call as soon as the room was available. We and several others were resting in lounge areas and on lobby seating around the hotel. We went into the restaurant and I purchased food for our 4yo and drinks for all of us. We sat on a sofa at the edge of the restaurant, NOT at a table or seating that was obviously part of the dining area. The 4yo fell asleep and my older daughter rested against the arm of the sofa. A waiter came over to us and said, "You cannot sleep here!" I said, "I paid for a room here, we can't check into it until 3. I am also a paying restaurant customer as we did buy food and drinks. We are not vagrants off the street. We have been sleeping in an airport for 2 days due to circumstances not in our control. Have some decency." He said, "Well you know, this is a restaurant!" Then stomped off. I got up and went to the front desk to check on our room. The agent said we should have been called 2 hours before.
She gave us hygiene kits and a meal certificate for the mistake. Bless her! However that waiter humiliated us in front of other patrons and the original desk clerk failed to notify us our room was ready. It all could have been avoided had he notified us on time. For the price we paid, I expected much more from Marriot staff. I sincerely praise and appreciate the female desk agent that apologized and tried to help us. We were able to shower with hygiene products but we did not get to eat at the restaurant because I did NOT want to go back in there as that waiter had embarrassed us so badly.
They double charged me even though I had already paid in Booking.com

I enjoyed the short distance to the airport.
I did not enjoy the check in staff, because of their lack of knowledge about airport shuttles. I attempted to ask the gentleman about returning my rental car and receiving a shuttle to the airport and he said just keep your car for the evening and return it tomorrow, because they don’t do shuttle service. It seemed as though he didn’t have the correct information. Being so close to the airport this type of information is crucial for guests.

We were double-billed for the one night stay. Hopefully that is being corrected.
The beds are comfortable
The train wasn't running after 10 pm. But it's not a far walk and it's good to walk after a long flight. So it wasn't bad.
Excellent reception staff particularly Ana. Rachard in the restaurant was excellent too.
