I searched long and hard for a good hotel to stay near family, and there really aren't that many options right in Santa Clara. Marriott was nearby so I booked a room in the tower. We were on the 5th floor. The room itself was decently sized and well-lit. While you got some view of the road it wasn't too loud or bad. However, the room was a bit small for the 3 of us, so I decided to move to connecting rooms. I got one by the poolside and it was by far the noisiest room. It was awful. Please do not stay in 1619 area. There was a conference going on and you could literally walk past those rooms right straight in this hallway. Every single person who passed was loud, even at 3am and when I asked them to please keep it down they laughed loudly and continued till I complained to the hotel. It was absolutely ridiculous. While poolside access is certainly desirable since you also have the patio and the pool gate is right there, it is just not worth it to deal with that kind of a noise. I also felt like security was very poor. Someone who came there for a conference could literally walk past your room. The elevators to the tower rooms didn't need you to swipe your room card. While it maybe a safe area, I felt like given that it is used for conferences there needs to be more security. The pool was heated and a good temperature. Room service was good but food not so good. Breakfast was decent, slightly overpriced for the spread but my kids liked it. Service itself was good, people were friendly, but they are clearly under-staffed and you don't get much help with luggage. Housekeeping was everyday which was so nice! We were happy to have connecting rooms since it gave us more space to keep our luggage. The rooms are sufficient for 1-2, and the bathrooms are really small sadly. I wish they had increased bathroom sizes when they renovated. Parking was available and pricey, and it was hard getting the card to work every time. They also don't give adequate information. Parking was closer to the room we stayed in, but they didn't give us the information or the building number sign to park near. On the last day I asked someone and they shared that information with a map. I will likely stay here again if I were to visit, or look at other hotels with slightly bigger rooms and bathrooms. But I still had a good stay here. It is a good hotel with friendly staff, provided you book the right room.
loud music in parking lot
This hotel is amazing especially if you are going to a 49er game. We stayed for 3 days and got to meet several players. The room is very nice with a patio/balcony for every room and the staff was super helpful.
Everything was great.
Had a very unpleasant experience at Santa Clara Marriott. The front desk staff refused to sell me a gift card using my own credit card, even though my name is clearly printed on it and matches my ID. I've used this card here many times before with no issues. Even worse, when my husband spoke to me in foreign language , the staff told us we “cannot speak foreign languages here.” This felt discriminatory and unacceptable. Very disappointed by how we were treated.
Walking distance from Levi stadium. Clean workers very helpful.
We loved our room. Especially the beds. The lighting and charging stations were great too. The bathroom was wonderful; we really liked the shower (though the water pressure was a bit low).
Would have liked stronger water pressure.
Clean and helpful staff
I haven’t stayed here in a few years and thought I would give it a try again… hoping it might’ve gotten better. Sadly, not much. The rooms have been renovated and are better than before, but they still have the clunky heating and air-conditioning system systems that make too much noise. The building structure itself is still its old and dated same self. I thought the bar service was very good as was a snack I had there. Overall, my stay was decent but certainly nothing special. It’s unfortunate that Marriott does not operate a higher quality true 4 star facility in the Silicon Valley market.
As a fitness professional, I will only go to properties with on-site fitness facilities. Since this is my area of expertise, I only review the hotel gyms.
I was pleasantly surprised by the fitness center at this hotel. Located in a separate building next to the pool, this large space has just about anything a fitness enthusiast/gym rat/traveler could want.
7 LifeFitness treadmills overlooking the pool, plus an additional 4 tucked around the corner
4 LifeFitness ellipticals overlooking the pool
2 Peloton bikes
1 LifeFitness studio cycle
1 LifeFitness recumbent bike
1 LifeFitness stationary bike
2 “escalator” stair steppers
A separate “fitness on demand” area with large monitor and equipment to use for classes chosen through the kiosk screen.
Plenty of handbells and barbells in varying weights
Kettlebells and medicine balls
BOSU and Fitness Balls
Mats and foam rollers
LifeFitness Synergy 360 with boxing bag, multi-position, “Jump Sport” trampoline for medicine ball bounce back.
LifeFitness strength machines: chest press, lat pull down, leg press, barbell assist.
Towels, chilled towels, water bottles, water bottle filler, headphones, plenty of gym wipes.
The only thing lacking in this fitness center is a restroom.
I must also add, this hotel has a beautiful pool with a dedicated lap swim lane (wish I would have known this!). Also, a lovely whirlpool on the pool deck with plenty of chairs and towels.
