I just completed an overnight stay at the Stamford Marriott and had a pleasant stay. From check-in to check-out, the staff were courteous and helpful. Minerva and Christian at Sam’s restaurant for breakfast were very warm and hospitable. The hotel is located a short walk from the Stamford train station. Highly recommended!
Friendly, excellent breakfast, excellent service. Lovely room. All the amenities for this hotel were clean and well maintained. Front desk very nice, helpful and pleasant. It is a very nice hotel though not the fanciest in town, and the other fancier hotels have beautiful landscaping, etc. We have stayed at two others and this one is much better. Better breakfast, friendlier staff, nicer rooms...We stay in this area a lot because we have family nearby. This is where I prefer to stay!
Our SUV wouldn't fit in covered parking so I paid $25 a night to let it set in the snow.
Stayed here for 3 nights from December 26 to 29th using my Marriott points. I knew from reading reviews that the hotel was in dire need of renovation and updating so my expectations were low in terms of aesthetics. There seemed to be very few guests upon checking in as there was an impending snow storm. The desk clerk did not acknowledge my Lifetime Titanium Elite status but did advise that the Club Lounge was closed and provided me with vouchers for breakfast as well as food and beverage vouchers for each day, which I appreciated. We had reserved a king double and were given a king double which was sorely outdated and worn. Certainly, with such a low occupancy rate, there should have been an upgrade provided given my Marriott status. However, upon returning to the front desk expressing dissatisfaction with the assigned room, they then gave me another room which had been recently updated which should have been given to me in the first place. I do agree with recent reviews made about the need for renovations, etc. so I will not belabor those points. In spite of the latter, the housekeeping staff do a great job maintaining the public areas and cleaning the rooms. Kudos to them.
Overall, I think the front desk staff can do a better job acknowledging elite guests. I say this not only because of my disappointing check in experience but because I observed a number of other guests checking in while sitting in the lobby who seemed dissatisfied with their experiences and expressing it to front desk staff.
A breakfast buffet with a made to order omelet station was available for the first two days of our stay (a Saturday and a Sunday). We were pleased with the offerings and table service provided. There was an unfortunate scene created by a couple at a table next to us who didn’t want to pay for 2 buffets since they were sharing one. The couple, especially the man, were loud and extremely rude to the server who tried to handle the situation gracefully. He should be commended for keeping his cool.
Breakfast on the third day of our stay (Monday) was a different story. No buffet provided just alacarte from the menu. The restaurant was quite busy and staff seemed in a panic as several staff members had called in sick. We had to wait almost 45 minutes to receive our order. They had pulled staff from outside the food and beverage area to help in the kitchen but it was quite a chaotic experience for guests. We saw a number of “suited” management staff walking around but none appeared to pitch in to help the overwhelmed staff.
Check out was similar to check in. Very impersonal with no inquiry about our stay or thank you for staying with us. Suffice it to say, I had low expectations and I wasn’t disappointed.
Location was great
It’s was old and beat up.
La cercanía y bunas habitaciones
El ruido del aire acondicionado y el FAN no se puede regular en los médium y high
Lots of pillows, comfortable beds, Quiet at night.
Parking not included in room rental.
There is nothing to like about an old worn out hotel. Everything just feels past due date.
Overdue upgrade needed. No hot water in the bathroom sink, shower tap was all cold or scorching hot.
Old spring loaded matrasses that feel like a waterbed.
The location is great, close to the train station and Stamford Town Center, good restaurants.
Some deferred maintenance, and needs upgrading. The chair in my room had worn-put upholstery and the hallways were in need of a refresh.
Location
Very dated
Basic
Needs renovations
BREAKFAST was terrific!
Parking easy and safe,
Room clean and comfortable.
Easy in and out.
There was hole in our wall.
Was there on business. Utilized company credit card to pay for room. Used my personal credit card for incidental hold upon check-in. My personal card was charged $606 for INCIDENTALS. I was told it would be refunded upon checkout. It was not. Marriot informed me it takes 3 - 5 business days for the refund. Unacceptable. I was also told it should've only been a $75 per day hold. I was there for 2 days. Be wary of charges when checking into this hotel.
The breakfast buffet is really yum and worth it. The bed I slept in was really difficult to roll out of because it's so comfortable.
Can't actually think of something to complain about!
