Close to the airport convenience in otherwise mediocre hotel experience
Pros:

Convenience in that it is close to IAD is why one would stay here. The hotel has all the amenities one would like and airport shuttle runs regularly, so no long waits. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Cons:

The hotel feels dated and musty. Long hallways to get to your room, stained carpet in the room and check in was not very smooth. For a Marriott it disappoints.

We will stay there whenever we have an early flight.
Pros:

Location is wonderful. Food and wait staff in the bar were terrific.

Cons:

Most confusing layout I have ever seen. Signs are confusing. Should have frequent signs to lobby. Staff commented that everyone gets lost in building. This is something that could be remedied.

Disastrous check-in
Pros:

We reserved ten rooms, send the credit card authorization in advance, sent a room list in advance. Staff member who checked us in was nevertheless extremely confused, giving us two sets of keys for the same room, another set that didn't open the indicated room, an additional room that we hadn't reserved, etc. We arrived at 1130 pm, and it took until past 1 am to straighten all this out, partly because he was the only staff member at the desk and many other folks were trying to check in (the line moved very slowly). No acknowledgment of Ambassador status at all, no real greeting, no apologies. I would be annoyed if this happened at a Towne Place Suites or somesuch, but a Westin that's this understaffed (qualitatively ad quantitatively). it's really alarming. I expect I will also have to spend some time and effort getting someone to correct our receipts.
