Fee to park
Pros:

First of all its down town walking distance to a lot of good restaurants the Capitol, the room was clean but the air conditioning unit hummed all weekend , the wires are exposed underneath the unit. They do have a shuttle which is nice runs 6 o 10 at night within 2 miles of hotel. There a surcharge to park if your paying to stay at the prices you have to pay the parking should be free , This isn't Boston nor New York City !We stayed here 2 years ago parking was free to hotel guests then to top it off they charge you a tax onto of $32 A DAY .

Overpriced
Pros:

Filthy beds, shower fixtures that don’t work properly, unhelpful staff, little to no help. Sent from 1 person to another to help only to be ignored and told they would contact me back and never did. Ridiculous access control measure preventing you from using amenities at your leisure. Laundry but do not offer ways to use it (detergent or coin). Overpriced for the quality.

NOT CONSISTENT WITH MARRIOT STANDARDS. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL!
Pros:

Room service was good.
Marriot club was nice.
Angel at front desk was amazing from check in and throughout our 5 night stay-he was helpful and professional.
Maintenance staff and housekeeping were helpful and gracious when correcting multiple issues reported.

Cons:

Room was not ready at arrival had to wait until almost 5pm to check in
Refrigerator in room was not working and after 2 complaints, it had to be replaced and caused all of our snacks to be spoiled ($75.00 of cheese & assorted fruits) no apology from MGT
Bathroom tub did not drain well and was NOT clean at arrival (Black hairs in tub from previous guest)
TV remote did not work, had to have it replaced day 2
Paid for 4 guests at booking and was given towels for 3 guests each day and had to request extra towels each day
Our room was not vaccummed all week while there (5 nights)
Ice machine on our floor ran out of ice 3rd day and did not work for remainder of our stay
Security guards present at lobby & pool, not on each floor, seems to be ongoing security issues at facility
There were lots of homeless people in hotel parking and adjoining areas approaching us for money
Many sports teams staying at hotel and athletes NOT supervised at night, running up and down halls banging on doors which disrupted our sleep (woke our toddler at 1am!) Notified front desk multiple times
Large groups of teenagers take over pool & hot tub and were loud and rude to us and other guests (unsupervised minors)

So easy to fix this problem...
Pros:

We stayed here prior to boarding our trip on American Cruise Lines. Arrangements were made through ACL. The check in took a while but we got our package and keys. I asked about laundry facilities as was told what guest room it was near. Finding the laundry room it was so difficult - there were no signs at all. The room had no amenities, not a chair, no soap, etc and no instructions where to get any. The machines only took quarters - no credit card. All of this would have been helpful to know in advance. I trekked back to the desk, waited in line again to get change, had to wait for someone to get it and then was directed to a vending machine where there was ONE kind of soap for $6 for one use! I trekked back to the laundry room and finally got one load done while uncomfortably sitting on the floor, which wasn't terribly clean. On the plus side, the burger we split for dinner was quite tasty and the bartender was very helpful and friendly.

Beware - Rooms in Need of Repair, Cleaning and Upgrades
Pros:

I booked a stay at the Providence Marriott Downtown through American Express Travel and was very disappointed by the condition of the room.

I have stayed at this property before and was previously assigned one of the upgraded rooms, so I know the hotel has rooms that are in much better condition. Unfortunately, this stay was very different.

This was not simply a matter of the room feeling dated or not being to my taste. The room had multiple cleanliness and maintenance issues that should have been addressed before it was assigned to a guest. The room was dirty, there was hair in the bathroom, the floor and rug were dirty, and the chair had visible stains. The bathroom had mold in the shower and on the shower curtain. In addition, the shower handle fell off when turned, the toilet appeared to need repair, and there were missing screws and bolt covers. The couplings for the water pipes were visibly rusted, and the wallpaper was puckered.

Overall, the room reflected poor housekeeping, maintenance, and quality control. I expected much better from a Marriott property, especially because I know from a prior stay that this property has upgraded rooms that present much better. Based on this experience, I would be cautious about booking this hotel unless the room type and condition are confirmed in advance.

Very good. Would go back. A bit pricey in terms of food and drink.
Pros:

Good location, lovely bar and restaurant, excellent and large pool, free coffee in foyer, comfortable rooms, recently refurbished. Lovely.

Cons:

Paying $35 a day for parking. Too much.
