San Antonio Marriott Riverwalk

Great location, great hotel, great staff! Special shout out to Lupe who worked in the concierge lounge & gave us some great tips on local activities and restaurants. She definitely made it a more enjoyable stay.

Yileana in the concierge lounge was extremely nice. She goes above and beyond to help hotel guest.

For this price point I was not impressed at all with the hotel. First, the rooms are way too small and have a ridiculously poor storage space. The tub was clogged 🤮 which grossed me out. Also, there’s no shower cap or hair dryer in my room. Are you kidding me?
I found the pillows to be too high and firm, so I called guest services to ask for a more down pillow. The lady’s reply is that all of the pillows are the same. This is literally day 1 of my 5 night stay and I have these many issues. I am so annoyed at this place.

Roffe was great!!! Chicken fried steak sliders were awesome.

The view from the balcony was the best.

The Marriot riverwalk was a great place to stay. It was in a great place at the head of the San Antonio riverwalk, a short walk to the Alamo and across the street from the convention center. The staff were all extremely helpful and Lupe S. In the lounge was helpful and great to speak with. The rooms were comfortable and clean.

Very nice and clean… also a great location

In general, the hotel was acceptable. Staff were exceptionally polite and helpful, although there is huge expectation for substantial tips at every turn. Valet parking is required, there is no self-parking at the property... and the Valet parking is $64/night.

Breakfast is overpriced, and we had to ask 4 times to get our beverages... custom-made omelets, so that was nice. Otherwise, it was the same powdered eggs and turkey sausage that every other Fairfield Inn property forces on their guests for free... but here our "breakfast buffet" was $60 for 2 of us.

Our room was falling apart, with broken ceiling tiles, and chipped paint on the bottom of the bathroom door... bathroom was laughably tiny. Lighting in the hallway outside our room was, at least in part, bare bulbs with missing sconces. One entire power plug fixture next to our bed was dead.

Marriott has obviously forgotten that the #1 standard by which guests rate their experience is a) the quality of the toilet paper, and b) the quality of the towels.

For over $400/night, we got 1-ply toilet paper that made Walmart bathroom TP look and feel luxurious, and (very large) bath sheets that were almost thread-bare enough to see through.

I think we'll try somewhere else on our next trip through San Antonio.

The location was close to major venues of interest

This was an amazing visit! Candace, Tadeo and Elizabeth greeted us with big smiles and were over the top accommodating. They even arranged for a couple of bottles of champagne to be delivered to our room for our friend who is getting married. Everyone was friendly and a lot of employees have been there 20+ years. This is a good sign. The facility was clean and in the prime location for the places we wanted to go.

Great location and clean hotel. What made the stay more special was the fact that it was right on the riverwalk! This meant that a colleague and I could easily do a post dinner walk and feel incredibly safe in a new city. Perhaps more importantly was the staff. Due to my severe onion family allergies the Sous Chef personally prepared my meal and brought it to me - it was incredible! Its incredibly stressful to eat out due to my allergies; however, he made me feel safe and made a meal that did not feel less. The service was above and beyond, all employees were so happy to help. It made the stay very comfortable and easy.

Dingy, dated hotel. No hot water. Unhelpful, unpleasant staff. The rotten cherry on top was when the valet went home with my keys and I had to change my flight waiting for him to return with my rental car. Love Marriott and Bonvoy. This property is a stain on their portfolio.

Lupe was working in the concierge lounge and was very friendly. She was knowledgeable about the city and gave us great recommendations on places to visit.
