I had a good stay at the Marriott Riverwalk. The location is perfect—right by the river, making it easy to enjoy the sights and access nearby restaurants and attractions. I especially loved the view from my room. The hotel staff was friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. Overall, the hotel looks nice and feels well-maintained.
While the location and staff were great, there were several areas that could be improved. The room was just okay, and the bed wasn’t very comfortable. The bathroom wasn’t as clean as expected—it had peeling paint in the bathtub and was dusty in several spots. The amenities also need attention; the pool table was old, and some of the cues were missing tips. Valet parking took longer than expected to bring the car, which was inconvenient.
On top of that, I was charged unexpected fees that weren’t mentioned at the time of booking, leading to extra costs I hadn’t anticipated. This lack of transparency was disappointing and impacted my overall experience.

Nice room and nice view for extra charges
The only thing I Didnt like was that They charge 60 dlls extra for valet parking ,, I had to used parking next door for 15 dlls but for a 2 min walk is worth it
Staff was overly nice, rooms were clean and hotel was spotless. Loved my stay and will probably stay here on my next trip. The river view is actually a stunning view of not just the river but the city itself. Although it was a busy week due to new years my check in was less than 5 minutes. The river is by the lobby and there is a Dennis at the corner. The valet was a little pricy but again it was new years and it was cheaper than other valet at other hotels.
The location was excellent to the Riverwalk and the Alamo Dome. Pretty view of the Christmas lights/river.
The toilet was a low-flow flush, and no matter how many times we flushed, there were still stains on the toilet that wouldn't clear. We had three people in our room and utilized the sofa bed. The mattress was hideous. Hardly folded flat and was VERY thin and uncomfortable.
Staff was great. Stayed here for new years and although the staff was extremely busy, they were very nice and our check in wait wasn't longer than 10 minutes. Valet was a bit pricy but it's not like other hotels that you pay for valet and parking which was nice. Our river view was excellent and more than I expected. Rooms were clean. River is at your feet literally. I will definitely be staying here for my next stay. It was worth every penny.
The bar is open seating which isn't bad itself but we waited for more than 30 minutes and no one had even acknowledged us until I asked a waited. Still I left. It could have been because it was new years so I may give it a try next time

We came in for New Year’s Eve celebration and Candice at the reception was absolutely AMAZING! She was very kind and so very helpful! She MADE my niece and nephew New Year’s Eve!! I am so grateful for Candice!
Maddie was a wonderful waitress and she gave us such an awesome recommendation on the restaurant menu. All the food was great and her hospitality was so amazing. We were a little upset with the front desk lady from not being so nice. But Maddie made up for it.
I stayed at the San Antonio Marriott Riverwalk for a week-long work conference. Overall, my stay was pleasant.
The rooms are spacious; however, the bathrooms are quite small and the layout can feel a bit tight. The bathroom has a regular swing door, which made it somewhat challenging to maneuver in and out of the space, particularly around the shower. From a traveler’s perspective, a pocket door would have felt like a more functional option, but this is simply a personal preference.
One standout feature was the elevator system. It was efficient and well designed. Honestly, I wish the same level of thought had gone into reconfiguring the room and bathroom layout.
There aren’t many dining options directly on the property, but that’s hardly an issue given the location. There are endless food choices just a short walk away, whether along the River Walk or at street level.
That said, the hotel’s location is a major plus. It’s directly across the street from the convention center, a short walk to The Alamo, and just steps from the San Antonio River Walk.
It’s also a quick Uber or Lyft ride to Historic Pearl, the Culinary Institute of America, and the San Antonio Zoo.
Overall, this hotel is a solid option for conference travel thanks to its unbeatable location, though the room layout could use some improvement.
Terrible place
Location was excellent.
Lacking in amenities and high parking fees.
Nothing
I enjoyed this Marriott location. The building is a little older which also means quieter as the walls aren't paper thin. The air handling was quiet and kept the room at a consistent temp. The balcony was nice for getting some fresh air. The weird over tall desk thing is my only complaint as you can't easily sit an work in your room. Bathroom was clean. I did room service and the burger was very good. I will stay at this location again. The pool area is nice and gym is pretty big and thankfully had a Peloton.
I wholeheartedly recommend the Marriott Riverwalk. The location is excellent, but what truly sets this property apart is the exceptional staff. They are the reason we will return. We chose this hotel for its convenience to the Lila Cockrell Theatre, where my child was performing in the Nutcracker. From the moment we checked in, the team was welcoming, honored my Marriott status, and delivered outstanding customer service.
During our stay, we experienced an accident in our room (entirely our fault). The compassion and professionalism shown by the front desk team (Candice and Val) and maintenance (Roscoe) were remarkable. They turned a stressful situation into a manageable one, and I cannot thank them enough. I hope they receive recognition for going above and beyond. Thank you for making our experience memorable.
Great location!
It was so clean and comfortable.
Matthew at the Bell stand was so kind and personable and helpful. Really made us feel welcome and at home. The hotel was beautiful and clean and I enjoyed the gym as well
Lupe S. At the upstairs lounge was phenomenal. The most accommodating and friendly individual I have met so far at the Marriott’s. She deserves a raise!!
