We really like the location in the city. The staff here are wonderful and the beds are super comfortable.
Clean, convenient. It was perfectly correct.
Lack of style.
Our room had a horrible odor that worsened when we ran the A/C unit. It smelled like either an animal had died in the vent or the prior occupant had vomited all over the room without anyone cleaning. We checked out after 1 horrible night and switched hotels.
At the front desk, they apologized and said to reach out to Expedia to coordinate the refund for the unused night. But when Expedia reached out, the property refused to refund us for the unused night. Front desk just completely lied to us. Avoid this property at all costs.
I will start off with a positive the lobby is beautiful, and The hot tub was very nice. Now the negative these rooms cost way too much money per night not to have ice machines working on either floor that was listed on the wall. I was staying on the 7th floor the ice machine is located on It was not working I went all the way up by stairs to the 10th floor and that one wasn't working. Someone in the hallway to go downstairs to the second floor and they would give me ice at the bar. However I was in pajamas and socks no shoes no bra thinking I would just take a short trip to get some ice only to go down to the bar dress like that. And when I walked to the bar they immediately knew that I wanted ice because he told me several other people had come down to ask for ice as well.
Let's talk about their HVAC system. Absolutely horrible. The temperature is automatically set at 71. But it's set on motion detection and then if you want AC then it will go down to as low as 65 but that is it. Everyone in our room and the guests and other rooms were extremely hot at night because when you are sleeping you are not moving so therefore the temperature goes up to 71. I express our concerns at the desk. I asked her how is the air supposed to stay on if you are asleep You're not moving in your sleep so therefore it does not detect movement so therefore the temperature goes back up to 71 and everybody's hot. Thank God we bought a fan and was able to use our own personal fan in the room. The lady which was the manager said to me it's an energy saving system that the hotel is using, and I told her that is a horrible system because there's no way you can sleep comfortable because the temperature goes back up because it does not detect movement.
Let's talk about the room some more. We had a room with a coffee maker in it but no coffee cups, but we had coffee cup lids, so I had to call downstairs for that. Here I am the remote in our room did not work on the television, so I had to call down again for them to bring a replacement remote up because it was not the batteries It was the remote itself.
OMG , they have the dinkiest refrigerators not even dorm size you can barely fit anything in it because it's a little bitty cube size refrigerator. Once again for paying $300 a night you would at least expect a dorm size refrigerator.
In closing, not least not unless you're going to sleep walk the entire night so the AC can detect movement, be prepared to bring you a fan because the air goes back up to 71 if it does not detect movement in your room and starts heating up.
I love everything about this hotel! It's always been my favorite!
The Delta Hotels by Marriott Richmond Downtown provided excellent service during our stay. Although there were a few minor mishaps, they were addressed promptly and resolved efficiently. The restaurants and catering services associated with the hotel were outstanding and greatly enhanced the overall experience.
Ed is great! Absolute champion of the work force. He's been super helpful dealing with all the stress of an extended shift and a no-call no-show. He's been stellah and surviving haha.
Great location with very spacious and clean rooms. The hotel staff was extremely welcoming and helpful, specifically, Megan and Chandra. We left items in the hotel room and they were able to located them and coordinate the delivery of them back to me.
The beds were really comfortable
The hot tub was not hot at all. It was just like being in a lukewarm bathtub. Also, there were a lot of kids in the pool that we’re not being supervised and there was no lifeguard on staff.
They had a shuttle
Breakfast options.
I visit Richmond often for work and need to stay for more than a day when I do and I usually stay at the Marriott in Downtown or stay at the Marriott in Short Pump. This time I decided to give this Delta a try.
Customer service from all the staff I encountered was great! Very professional and friendly. Checking in was spot-on, the lady checking me in was helpful and courteous and explained the Pantry (their version of the lounge). She also put me in a huge room, as an upgrade.
The property’s common areas were nice, clean, and well-maintained. The room seemed decent, but is in need of being updated. It appears to be partially updated, but it’s rather oddly configured and there was some appointments that were definitely dated or needing replacement, due to stains/overuse. The shower basin was one of them, it had nasty big black stains all over it. The counter in the sink area of the bathroom was not very useable, even though it was long, as it was too narrow to sit my toiletry bag on. There was an oddly placed mini fridge in the middle of the floor in the living room area of the room, which should probably have been inside a cabinet. There was a kitchenette style cabinet/counter system, where they should put a fridge, but instead they had lots of drawers and cabinets which were all empty – so why would this be in a hotel room? The positive of the room was the TV working great and the HVAC working nicely and not being too loud.
The Pantry was pretty nice. I stopped in it twice, once for late afternoon snacks and it was fully stocked with a nice selection of snacks and drinks. Then again very early the next morning for coffee and I noticed they put out bagels (which were individually wrapped), butter, a toaster, and items that were nice breakfast snacks to enjoy with coffee. It was decent. Though, I’m not a fan of these coffee machines with the touchscreens… they don’t consistently make a decent cup of coffee.
Overall, it was a decent stay. But coming back, I think I’ll stay at the main Marriott instead.
