Great location, and we enjoyed the complimentary cocktails
It was expensive, but no more so than other hotels in the area
The location is great, the overall architectural design of the property is great, thanks to the central open air courtyard which affords nice windows and natural light. The staff is very hospitable and friendly.
Our room had a VERY noisy heating system that periodically came on throughout the night and that made it hard to go to sleep. Plus there wasn’t a blanket for the bed and so I had to sleep in layers: tights, a camisole and a thermal underwear top plus heavy cotton booties. I couldn’t get warm enough, unless I was up against my husband, but he moves in his sleep so I couldn’t stay in that position for long.
Worn out hotel. Great location but the hotel is not luxurious. It may have been at one time. The mattress is likely original to George and Martha Washington. I can hear the springs creaking as I lay down. The carpet is stained. Things are a bit dusty.
Sadly, they are not keeping this hotel up. It does have parking on site. It does have a restaurant. The restaurant doesn’t open until 7 which is kind of late for a business hotel.
All the employees are nice, helpful, friendly. The concierge is great.
Bottom-line, the property is not being well maintained and is not particularly clean. The location and staff are great.
The location was great! It was right near everything we wanted to do .
Paying for WiFi seems a little much when we already paid a lot to stay and use the parking garage.
The staff was extremely helpful in resolving a booking problem and went above and beyond to make our stay there a very, very enjoyable experience! We will be back again and recommend to outhers.
Everything was exelent
Nice hotel in old town Alexandria. Close to everything. Nice rooms in good shape and clean, quiet and comfortable. Nice check in experience. Full bar and restaurant.Would stay again
The location was amazing. Wonderful old town neighborhood. The restaurant was also great and the room was cool with funky wallpaper and nice toiletries.
I’ve already addressed this with the staff but I was in a too floor room all the way at the end of the hall. The room had only one small, high window and the window shade could only be reached by having to climb onto a precarious roller chair, then a glass-topped table. It was frankly unsafe. But it was either do that or deal with a room so bright you could read at night with no lights on. Also — the mattress was obviously old and worn out. It was completely saggy, but when I tried to move Niki to the middle to find firmer ground, I could feel a seam as though it was two mattresses pushed together. Just uncomfortable. Between that, the window and the jet lag, I barely slept for two nights.
We had a wonderful holiday return stay at The Alexandrian and truly felt right at home. Sam, the general manager, and his entire team go above and beyond to make guests feel welcome. Our suite was fantastic, Chef Victor sent an incredible platter of fruits and desserts, and Sam surprised us with a bottle of wine upon arrival. From the front door to the front desk, the staff is exceptional. We’re already looking forward to our next visit in the spring.

Staff were welcoming and very friendly. Hotel is clean and in great location.
If you book this hotel use a parking app and save money. We were able to park in the hotel garage underneath the property. It was nice to be greeted with a welcome bag that included two bottles of water and chocolates. The elevators were small and closed very quickly. We had to rush to the doors or they would close before we got on. Hopefully the timing can be adjusted for anyone who is not standing next to the door that opens first. The room was one of the largest I’ve seen in a historic area and we appreciated the space. For the price it was not as luxurious as one might expect. They seem to be working on some maintenance needs in the lobby and one of our curtains was missing a gold button. Small details, but they add up. It was centrally located for exploring Alexandria.
Location is great and the hotel itself is very nice, clean and comfortable.
Was only there one night but there was no heat starting at the night and never came back on during my stay. WiFi is not free and had to have their IT team resolve an issue that was blocking me from connecting.
I typically stay here every quarter for work conferences because of the great location and convenience to work. In December, I stayed for a week and tried to put incidentals on my personal card and found out that they put a hold on it. I was furious because they had my work credit card already for the room charge and all I wanted to do was put the 7 dollar water bottle they put in your room on my personal card. ( Don’t even get me started with that scam as well) I was extremely upset because I had some very important payments coming out of my checking and was concerned they would bouce before I could transfer money so I went down to the front desk and the agent informed me there was nothing he could do to release the funds. He said I should have just paid upon check out. I informed him that someone should have let me know this and about the hold. I asked to speak to a manager but he blew me off and said that no one was available and then told me to have a nice day. Needless to say, I will never stay here again. How greedy do you have to be to place holds on both the cards, seriously? Like you aren’t going to get your money? Never again!
No heating vents in bathroom area which made it very cold. Shower temperature was luke warm at best. Between room being cold and shower being cold it was very uncomfortable
The location is great. Because of that, I get it as a good spot for big parties-weddings, reunions, etc… We often stay in Autograph Collection hotels, and property-wise, this isn’t close to others. The rooms are dark, dated, small, and shabby. Marriott really shouldn’t market this in the Autograph collection until it is updated.
We have stayed annually at the Alexandrian for the past several years for a family staycation. In short, service has gone downhill and the hotel is looking tired, which is a pity because the location is fantastic and previous stays have been good. The person who checked us spent several minutes typing on her computer before even acknowledging us. (There was nobody else at the front desk.) No mention was made of what our destination fee covered (though we’ve been there previously, a reminder would have been nice). Any time I had a question for the front desk, the staff was on the more dismissive side. We were in a room on the 5th floor and while we did not hear any construction work being done, the room, in particular the bathroom, showed its age and there was a faint stale odor. It’s a pity, but this is probably our last year at this hotel and we’ll be looking elsewhere in Alexandria in the future.
I enjoyed my stay at The Alexandrian, but Kamal made it even better. He was very courteous, kind, and helpful. He needs a raise because his personality and work ethic was wonderful.
We had a lovely stay at the Alexandrian Hotel. The service is exceptional and Sam, the manager of the hotel, was beyond kind and accommodating. We love the atmosphere and location of the hotel. Can’t wait to be back!!
Truly enjoyed my vist to The Alexandrian. Lovely property, spacious rooms, great food at the King & Rye and AMAZING service. The manager, Sam, is fantastic to work with and staff was very helpful. Will definitely visit again.
