It’s been a few years since stay here and a few things to notice, the reception has moved around but the staff are extremely friendly and welcoming.
The room was clean and comfortable with a walk in shower, large beds and a city view.
I wish they would include a kettle as I miss my English tea in the morning but still an excellent location.
Fabulous location, friendly staff and big clean rooms.
This hotel was great value for money.
It's quirky, it's not modern, but it's got character and is located perfectly for the Christmas markets, close to the train station.
The staff were helpful and friendly.
Would definitely return.
Good breakfast choice
Overall a great nights stay.
We went to Montreux for the Christmas markets with a 6 yr old and a 1 yr old. We initially booked an Airbnb but got cold feet as the owner never responded to us - so we had to find a hotel and initially j5 didn’t have any availability due to 4 people being in the room.
However, they responded sensibly to the situation (recognising that small children could simply share our bed) so allowed us to book. Our room was perfect, they had been able to find a family room so we had a cot and separate, large, sofa bed for or 6 yr old.
The room was furiously warm, their heating bill must be mega! However there was air con in the room so we quickly got it down to a comfortable temperature.
The bed was comfy, the bathroom clean and overall we were very happy. It is a bit old fashioned but in most respects that added to the charm - I liked the old style key to a modern key card. There are 2 lifts. One is new and the other clearly an original with lots of character.
The lounge area in reception was spacious and comfortable. We didn’t have chance to try the brasserie etc.
Location was great, a 5 min walk to the square and Christmas markets and a 10-15 min walk to the train station.
We had a great stay and would visit again if in the area.
Clean room, very helpfull staff, parking requires reservation, however over priced
Very basic hotel with no in-room amenities, though you could request a jug of hot water. Large room, comfortable pillows and good location. Bus stop just outside front of hotel with a short ride back to the train station.
Throughly enjoyed our room. Looks like it was recently updated and very well done.
The hotel room was adequate with a lake view terrace, a bit on the small side and somewhat outdated.
We liked the vintage lift which was unique. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast was nice with a choice of eating inside or outside on the balcony. We'd definitely stay here again and recommend to family and friends.
Great location - easy walk from train station- also close to Lake Geneva
No WiFi.
Convenient location for lakeside, hotel decoration tired, some staff friendly. English tv channels did not work. Continental breakfast was good
Hotel was decent, not being too far from the airport. The staff was amazing!
The hotel has a lot going for it, but also some drawbacks that left us with mixed feelings.
The Good: The location is excellent, right in the center of Montreux and close to both the bus stop and train station, which made getting around very convenient. Guests also receive a Riviera Card that provides free local transport and discounts, which was a great benefit. Our room and bathroom were clean and well-maintained, which we truly appreciated.
The Not-So-Good: Our room wasn’t ready at check-in, which was inconvenient after a long journey. Another disappointment was related to breakfast. On Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, there’s a lively street market by the lake with plenty of food options. However, the hotel staff encouraged us to purchase the hotel breakfast without mentioning the market. We were told it would be CHF 18 per adult and that it included everything, even cooked-to-order eggs such as omelets or fried eggs. But when we went down to eat, we found that cooked eggs cost an extra CHF 7. While the breakfast was decent and convenient, the lack of transparency about the real cost felt misleading. To make matters worse, at checkout an additional CHF 6 per adult was charged for city tax, bringing the actual total to CHF 24 per person- quite expensive compared to the quality and variety available at the street fair.
Overall: Great location and comfortable stay, but the lack of transparency around breakfast and extra charges left a negative impression.
Parking is limited and expensive. No AC .
Very nice staff and clean room. Unfortunately there was only a small fan during a heat wave so the room was very warm even with the windows open
Easily accessible from the main station walking or by bus. The hotel is located in front of the bus stop. Walkable to the lake and near various shops and restaurants. Great location. However, the facility is old. The room had a strange smell, with squeaky doors. The bathroom area was not thoroughly cleaned.
House keeping was not responsive
We stayed here for 4 nights as part of our Swiss Travel Company package.
Our room was amazing, very spacious, with a separate sitting area and a huge bathroom. It also had a cute little balcony where we had our pre-dinner drinks. We had a small fridge and a safe in our room but unfortunately no kettle. However that wasn't a problem as we could ask reception for a flask of hot water and they provided it with cups whenever we asked.
Continental breakfast was great with a variety of rolls & bread, meat and delicious cheese, croissants and other pastries and fresh fruit including beautiful peaches. The staff at breakfast were delightful.
We were also given a Riviera Card for free local transport and various attraction discounts and complimentary access to the beautiful outdoor Casino Pool, just a couple of minutes from the pool. Admittedly the building is a bit quirky but we really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it.
Grate location, and lake view. Big rooms. Bit on the ‘shabby’ side
The location is perfect
