Doubletree Monrovia always a good stay
Pros:

Excellent stay. Front desk staff were friendly and attentive. Housekeeping did a great job. Hotel is conveniently located for many attractions, like the Huntington library, Descanso Gardens, and L A County Arboretum but without the Pasadena prices.

Comfy stay except for lack of warm shower

Excellent front desk staff - friendly and responsive to concerns.

Cons:

Hot water did not work in shower. The first morning, we attributed it to several guests using at the same time. When it happened the second morning at a completely different time, we knew there was a problem and reported it. Neither of us could take a normal shower. In less than 5 minutes, the water was ice cold. I couldn't even finish rinsing out my hair. We were moved to a different room for the final night, but the problem persisted there as well - shower started out warm, then got colder in a very short time. When we reported the problem again, a maintenance person promptly came to our room. He turned on the shower (which started out warm of course), unscrewed the shower head, said it was fine, screwed it back on and left in all of 3 minutes. When we reported this the next morning, we were told we weren't the only guests having problems with warm showers!! There is a BIG problem going on in this hotel and I hope it is fixed sooner than later because if it wasn't for the cold showers, this would have been an EXCELLENT stay.

Comfortable Stay
Pros:

The location is great as it is close to the expressway, the parking is free, and we did pay the room rate that included morning breakfast. Not sure if it was worth the $34 extra per night but it was for us considering we didnt have to leave the facility. Upon checking in the staff was nice advised us of the breakfast hours and what to do. BUT I was surprised I had to ASK for cookies as it wasn't given to us. In the past, Doubletree used to provide these cookies warm, these were not. So yes, call me petty but I was disappointed in that, but don't be alarmed, I still finished it before even making it to the room LOL. The room was clean, but could use some updating the lampshade had splatter of something orange, and the carpet was a bit snagged. But the bed was comfy and it appeared clean. I normally bring my own wipes and wipe things down anyways. But overall it was a decent stay for the price in comparison to what I have paid elsewhere.

The hot water was down from 10 AM to 2 PM one of the days the last two terms I stayed here at the couches have been extremely dirty please clean them

Day one started out bad. It only got better from there.
Pros:

The room and bed were very comfortable. I loved your pillows. The room was cleaned each day, we had enough towels every day. Overall, the location and services were good.

Cons:

I didn't like getting the first morning to a shower that only gave us lukewarm water. We complained, the staff made canned excuses. We did get hot water the next day. Another guest said he didn't have hot water either. That is an expectation when booking. If there were two rooms without hot water, I think there were probably more. With the prices we paid we didn't expect that.
