This hotel is nice and close to the river walk and walking distance to the pearl district as well. The wifi was awful most if the time in the room but worked downstairs at reception area. Didn’t really have any problems besides a few with housekeeping. I feel they need to work on their attention to detail. One day they made one bed and emptied the bins and changed towels but only made one bed. We also went 2 days never getting any toilet paper with only half a role on the reel, we had to ring down to ask for more. There was also 2 days in a row where they gave us a hand towel as a bathmat.
The price was to high. Not worth the price
Location and breakfast
My husband and I visited for our anniversary and we wanted a balcony view of the Riverwalk. We got it but the view was horrible! We sat across from vacant buildings which was an eye sore. In our room was only one face towel. We didn’t bother to ask for another one because the guy who checked us in was a little irritated. It showed in his movements and tone of voice. I politely asked him to calm down and his response was “I’m calm” in an unpleasant way. I didn’t go back and forth with him because I’m simple not that type of person. We wished him a blessed day, and went into our room.
We selected Holiday Inn San Antonio-Riverwalk to host our national GoEngage conference, and it was absolutely the right choice.
What truly made the experience exceptional was the Holiday Inn team. Josel Roggensack (Catering Manager), Yolanda Quintana (Sales Manager), Bonnie Ng (Reservation Supervisor), Joy Torres (Admin Sales), and Ashley Torres (Accounting Manager) were outstanding—organized, responsive, and fully invested in our success from day one.
Leading up to the event, there were high-stress moments, and their team consistently showed up. Their professionalism and attention to detail made a huge difference.
During the event, Robert and Gwen were incredible. Gwen gave us her cell phone number so she could reach out anytime. She was extremely understanding and always quick to respond. The catering staff was also excellent. On two occasions, we mentioned that the ladies’ restroom needed toilet paper, and they immediately called housekeeping—both times it was resolved quickly. That responsiveness did not go unnoticed. Our attendees really loved all the hotel staff they encountered.
The event was a success because of this team. It was truly the people who made it all work. We’re very grateful for their partnership and would confidently recommend them for any large-scale event. 5 stars all around.

Homeless man sleeping in front of the door
Very great love the restaurant and the access to the Riverwalk👍
It was all great love it all
We booked our stay by online and called the front desk specifically requested a room close to our friends. Unfortunately, upon arrival, we were placed on a completely different floor, which was disappointing.
The cleanliness was also concerning. We found a used washcloth in the bathtub along with hair, which made it seem like housekeeping did only minimal cleaning before our check-in.
Additionally, when returning from the River Walk, we encountered a homeless individual sleeping right in front of the hotel entrance. This made us feel unsafe. Better lighting and security cameras could help prevent situations like this. Anything within the hotel premises should be the hotel’s responsibility.
If this were a budget stay, it might be more understandable, but for a hotel charging around $400 for two nights, we expected a much higher standard. Unfortunately, this experience did not meet those expectations.
This hotel is a hidden gem. We stayed here the weekend of Easter because other hotels we usually use were booked. The rooms are great. They have wood laminate on the floors, so no carpet to get dirty. There is a refrigerator in the room. The only thing missing is a small safe for valuables. The hotel is a great location, across from the Empire theater and 1 block from the Majestic. It is on the riverwalk, but a quiet section. You can walk down the riverwalk to the commercial area easily. It is nice to be on the river and not have it be so busy and crazy as it is further down. The hotel restaurant has windows onto the riverwalk and is very comfortable. I liked that they allowed us to order off the menu for small breakfast items instead of having to do the buffet. They did have a breakfast buffet for those who wanted it. Valet parking is $40 a day. Use the public lot on St Mary’s 1.5 blocks down that is $5 per day. There are many restaurants and breakfast places around. There is a Starbucks across the street. We will be staying here again, especially given the good price.

Everything especially the rude front desk.

Couldn't park my truck in the parking garage. Paid for nothing.
The valet guys were great. Roberto was especially great! The people at the front desk were very helpful. Amanda the manager helped us out when we got there and the rooms were overbooked. She helped make it right! Overall a great experience!
Jesse and Mando started our stay off great!!!!! Truly A+ service. Even made our 2nd day great when we came back from our concert. Making parking fun instead of stressful.
