Quit old but good maintenance.
A 5-star rating for a hotel with the issues that I will describe here may seem incongruous. It took me awhile to get there, as you’ll see. I was going to an event at Sofi Stadium and didn’t want a late-evening two-hour drive home afterwards, so I sought out a hotel for a one-night stay. This Holiday Inn was the lowest-priced, reasonably close, name-brand hotel that I could find. By far. I arrived in the 1:00 hour and was able to access my room early. There were only two check-in stations. I had a fairly short wait, but a large crowd queued up after me. Tough luck for them. Upon opening the door, the scent of marijuana was present. However, given that that same scent was still evident the next morning, I suspect it was coming from outside the window rather from inside the room. Also noticed that the room safe did not work. I’m sure Housekeeping does not check that daily, so if the battery dies, its up to a guest to request a new one. For one night, I did not do that, but I did let them know about the need for one. The room was the standard small, although clean. When I wanted ice for my drink, I learned that I had to go to the second floor (and be sure to bring your room key to access the ice/laundry room). Within view of the front door is a McDonalds. Very convenient. And while not Holiday Inn’s problem, that McDonalds has multiple “customers” soliciting food and/or money (yes, I went there twice). I was not familiar with this neighborhood, but I’d now call it sketchy. I left early the next morning. I stopped at the front desk to both let them know that the room was available for cleaning early and to get my statement printed out. I had paid with points, so the only additional charges should have been parking and its associated 10% tax. But the printed statement had a much larger dollar amount showing. The front desk employee assured me that it would eventually be charged correctly, but I shouldn’t be receiving an incorrect statement at the property. So, a few days later I’m home checking my credit card activity online. The exact incorrect dollar amount on my printout is there as a posted charge, along with another smaller pending charge. Neither number matched the parking fee. Sio I send off an email, requesting a correction. A couple days pass and I receive a reply stating that they agree with me and will fix it. A few more days pass, and the correction happens as promised. My online credit card is accurate. Because of my inconvenience, Maritza Maeda from Reservations/Front Desk waived my parking fee. Many other hotels would not do that. So, sitting here two weeks later, my take is that if you’re in need of a one-night stay near Sofi or LAX, want an affordable brand-name hotel, and your expectations are pretty basic (i.e., clean room), this Holiday Inn is actually a good fit. In the end, despite the issues, they proved to be good people. Temper your expectations and this hotel will be fine.
Close to the airport
The carpet in the room. To old and looked dirty
Front desk was rude. Front desk did not do second key correctly on first attempt. I asked them to correct it. They asked to stand in queue fir another hour at 11 pm even though I spent one hour on first time. They threaten to remove me when questioned.
Front office Staffs are rude
Good location
Too expensive
Came here for a concert at the Kia Forum just down the road 15 minutes. We walked here from the rental car center which is a short walk away. Hotel is comfortable and it has a nice pool. The area around is okay to walk in but there is a fair amount of poor milling about. No free breakfast. You're on your own.
Good shuttle service, quick check in, clean facilities, close to airport
