Nice staff and clean room!
It was convenient and the restaurant had wonderful service and really good food at dinner. In general the hotel staff was very friendly. Also the laundry room was a big plus.
There was only one working elevator which was shared with staff, so we spent an inordinate amount of time waiting for it and riding it, stopping at every floor. One time a housekeeper was on speaker phone with her husband as we rode up, not very professional.
The room was only cleaned twice during our 9 day stay, and if we asked, they stated it only was made up every other day… I said it had been three days, and still nothing. They only gave us two rolls of (scratchy) toilet paper the whole time - we finally just bought some at the store. We asked for ice, and someone showed up half an hour later with an empty ice bucket. When I asked where the ice was, she mumbled something, then another half hour passed until a different person arrived with the bucket and ice.
Weird furniture in the room, and the safe was up very high, so high I couldn’t see in it, and no chair in room to stand on to retrieve things from it.
Of course the construction was loud right above me. I wanted to leave the room ASAP.. Nights were ok. The pillows were the worst.

Under construction. Staff didn’t acknowledge me. Room was very sterile. Bathroom didn’t have a counter. Shower wasn’t always hot.

Location is good, and the staff is friendly.
Wi-Fi: The connection was consistently unstable, with very slow speeds and frequent disconnections, which significantly impacted my office work.
Breakfast: I stayed at this property three months ago, and the breakfast buffet was much better. This time, there was no buffet, and only a single option could be selected from the à la carte menu.
Bathroom: The shower gel in my room was empty.

Room was a mismatch of odd pieces of wooden furniture, not made for the room.
Security charge was $378.58 for a room charge of $526.22 which is outrageous; I don't care if it is returned.

The air fresher in lobby and hotel is very strong.

Convenient for what we were attending throughout the weekend. Breakfast tasted great.
Stayed here several years ago and felt a noticeable decline. Bed was VERY UNCOMFORTABLE - you can feel the springs and it’s like you would sink to the center of the bed. WI-FI didn’t work at all. The bathroom was not stocked for our arrival - no bath soap and they took several trips to remedy this. The hotel and room felt run down. They only gave us three bath towels and the fan in the bathroom didn’t work. So the towels stayed damp. I asked for three more, and they brought two.
The room and bed and TV were roomy, comfortable and easy to use for streaming,
The exterior of the building, the parking lot surface and especially the pool and spa and decking are rundown and need of renovation. The spa only has one decently working jet.
I had dinner in the hotel bar. Jose Luis was so great as our bartender/server! He was very prompt and attentive. The food was really good as well.

The restaurant was not good
Nice location with lots of free parking. Very friendly and accommodating staff. The bed was very comfortable and I had a great night sleep. I also felt very safe as a solo traveler.
We were looking for a last minute stop over in San Rafael, and decided on the Hilltop because the price was incredibly low. The reviews looked good, so we took a chance, and paid the extra $20 for breakfast. The photos do not do this place justice. The common areas were beautiful and modern; the courtyard with a pool, outdoor seating with fire pits, fitness studio and free parking all added to the 5 star experience. The $20 breakfast fee provided us a delicious breakfast for two at the café with coffee and orange juice. Our room was clean, beds comfy, and the furniture a bit dated with scratches. Overall fabulous place and it's easy to overlook a scratched desk when the price is right.
