Very slow flushing toilets. I mean like flush and come back in 5 and see if was completed
Awful, our room smells like cigarettes and feet, staying here during our family reunion.
The main reason I liked this hotel was that it had fairly spacious rooms with comfortable beds, a couple chairs, and a great shower. There was enough room on the night stand for my CPAP machine. (Unfortunately the outlet on the lamp didn’t work very well.) If you use a walker, consider staying somewhere else as the ADA rooms and the elevator are a long walk from the front desk. Even though the staff was pleasant there were lots of things they had no answer for or one person gave us a different answer from someone else. They were obviously understaffed and short on maintenance and supplies.
We chose to skip having housekeeping come in for two days and put our ‘do not disturb’ sign up. On the third day we arrived back at the hotel we were surprised our room hadn’t been serviced even though we hadn’t put up a sign that day. The front desk told us they were behind and would get to it. When it still wasn’t done another person at the front desk said housekeeping had cleaned the day before because they only clean every other day. But that wasn’t true. We asked for more toilet paper and were told the hotel was all out and other people had been asking about it too. They had no one available to go out and get more! My daughter was told she could come down and use the restroom near the entrance.
There are some other good things about this hotel but be sure to only consider reviews after 2024, both positive and negative. They told me the property had been under new management for the last year. They gave us a bottle of water and a warm cookie on arrival but not after that. And the snack shop was inadequately stocked so even though my daughter was able to buy dry cereal there was no milk for sale!
They told us a shuttle might be able to take us somewhere within ten miles if there was a driver. They wouldn't be able to bring us back though! Part of the reason we picked the hotel was for the shuttle service, but we ended up taking Lyft back and forth to Greenfield Village. There was no shuttle to the airport or the train station.
We were disappointed to find how few restaurants are in easy walking distance to the hotel and on our first night it took two hours to get dinner at the hotel because there was only one person working the bar and restaurant. There wasn't room service so we had to bring dinner to another family member. She was disappointed that the menu options online did not match what was offered in the restaurant. The restaurant has only a few things on the menu and some of them were not available, and my husband wasn't even given what he ordered. The breakfast was expensive and continental wasn’t available on the Sunday and Monday we were there.
The first room we were given had broken furniture, and we couldn't figure out how to operate the air conditioner which was very noisy. Thankfully they gave us a different room next to our other family members that was in better condition. The security is lax though. Anyone can use the elevator and people propped the door open to the patio, so the smokers could go in and out. When my daughter propped her door open for a minute to check on us, a staff member happened to come by and warned her not to do that.
The pool is small and warm but good luck trying to swim there on a weekend as it was packed with children when we arrived. The interior courtyard with extra seating and a fountain was pleasant but poorly lit at night. Unfortunately, we got caught in a rainstorm, so I was grateful they actually have a coin operated laundry room so I could dry some clothes. This hotel is adequate for a family trip to Greenfield Village and the Henry Ford Museum. Just remember to bring your own toilet paper!
Customer service was great! Andrea and Sherry at the bar were fantastic, as well as everyone in the front desk. Couldn't have had a better first impression of Detroit!
Don’t stay here. They won’t even give you a bottle of water
My experience was phenomenal...Skylar made my visit so enjoyable.... that I decided to come back a week from now for 4 days....I hope that she is cherished...oh an the rooms are fantastic too!!! Lol
My room was cleaned once over my 5 night stay.
Friendly staff clean hotel
Pillows were not very comfortable and a/c could be better
The main lobby
Hallway floor was soaked with needles on the corner and our beds were absolutely filthy. We asked for a refund and went to holiday in. We always check our hotel beds and this was a first for me…
Kay went far and beyond to welcome us and give us recommendations for restaurants and places to visit. Overall, a great experience.
Loved the pool area. The bed was a nice size, and super clean.
I didn’t like we didn’t receive breakfast in the morning
Andrea, the bartender at Grille 39, is wonderful. She is incredibly friendly and gave us great advice navigating the city while we visited the area. She is our ambassador for Detroit events going forward. Everyone should visit Andrea when they come to town.
Chill hotel. Great rooms. Awesome bartenders. Andrea is a sweetheart.
nothing.
I am shocked by the lack of professionalism at this DoubleTree. I spent four nights here (Total: $608), but the hotel failed to provide a valid invoice. I have been chasing them for 30 days with no resolution. Even with Booking.com’s mediation, the hotel remains unresponsive. It’s a total accounting mess. I will never stay at this location again, and I strongly advise others to think twice before booking here.
I stayed at the hotel for two weeks. I purchased the breakfast package on my room rate.
Breakfast was fine, typical hotel food but… since my breakfast was covered by the room rate, I still had to pay for coffee and/or juice. 3.50 per drink. Only water is included with breakfast…That is insane. I have never been to a more greedy hotel.
Lobby/water fountain
Bed old awful condition similar to a casket lumpy old smelling sheets, checked out at 3am couldn't do it another second
Kay at the front desk was awesome. She helped with our extended stay & is very professional. Thank you Kay. 5 Stars for Kay.
