Probably the nicest Hampton Inn I've ever stayed at
Pros:

We've stayed here many times over the past several years and it has always been nice, but this is our first time since the renovation and I would say that this hotel probably now ranks as the best Hampton Inn we've ever stayed at -- and we've stayed at a lot! The rooms were clean and quiet, the beds were comfortable, the AC/heat was quiet and effective, balcony rooms have a lovely view over the pool to the mangrove, staff were all nice and helpful, the lobby is bright and spacious, there is a new dining and bar area with great selections and very attentive service (which is definitely nicer than I've seen at a Hampton Inn before), and the location, only a 20-minute walk from the central shopping area, is very quiet and pretty. I think it would be difficult to find better accommodations on the island, especially in the usual price range of this hotel.

Perfect Relaxing Finish to Our Family Vacation
Pros:

Very relaxing final stop to close out a week of on-the-go family travel. It was our first time visiting Jekyll Island and we will absolutely be back.

The Hampton Inn & Suites is spacious, beautifully designed, and extremely well maintained. Chad welcomed us upon arrival and set the perfect tone for the stay—friendly, engaging, and genuinely hospitable.

We walked the boardwalk to the beach, which was gorgeous and peaceful, and also drove over to Driftwood Beach. It was incredible to see in person. My son treated the driftwood like a jungle gym while we searched for shells, which made for a really fun family afternoon.

Arranged a horseback riding session on Jekyll beach with Golden Isles Carriages & Trails. Sue was so wonderful & truly made it special for our daughter who is an equine enthusiast.

Great location, beautiful property, and wonderful people. A perfect place to unwind on Jekyll Island.

Our night from Hell
Pros:

My husband and two younger children, ages 8 & 9, decided to book a two-day small getaway on Jekyll Island. We chose this hotel because of the affordable price and the fact that they had a hot tub. Upon check in, as soon as we arrived to our room we noticed a horrible odor. We checked in the refrigerator and there were two full boxes of leftover seafood. I brought them up to the front desk and the woman behind the counter, Jess, offered nothing but an apology. After quickly getting settled then leaving to explore the island for the day, hoping that the smell would dissipate, we returned that evening and it had disappeared, thankfully. My children were anxious to get into the pool and my husband was excited to get into their hot tub, as it is a little chilly in Georgia this time of year(February 2026). As soon as we entered the pool gates, there was a sign stating that the hot tub was out of order, to say that my husband was annoyed is an understatement. In the meantime, the front desk clerk, Jess, had text me asking how everything was going and if we were enjoying our stay thus far. Since this seemed like strike number two, I decided to respond and let her know how disappointed we were that the room smelled awful but thankfully cleared up and that one of the main reasons we booked the room was for the hot tub and that was now out of order. She did offer to upgrade us for no additional charge, however, we were already settled into the room and my children were already getting into bed. She apologized about the hot tub, as she has no control over that. The next day, their breakfast was pretty good, the rest of the room was really nice and after exploring the island for the day we came back and the hot tub was working! The front desk clerk made it a point to stop me and ask if I saw that. I happily said I did and how it was going to make our trip so much better, we planned on booking another night. All seemed well, my children were able to enjoy the pool, my husband and I were able to relax in the hot tub after exploring the island all day and I went down to book another night with the other front desk clerk. After dinner and coming back to our hotel, we allowed our children to swim again until about 9:00 p.m. We return to our rooms and my husband and I had a few drinks, our children fell asleep around 9:30 p.m. My husband decided to step out to the bar(our room was ground level, directly across from the gym and almost directly across from the bar), I told him I would wait until I made sure that the kids were safely asleep so I could step out for a minute and join him. I joined him around 10:00 p.m. and we returned to the room around 10:15. We realized that our key cards were not working so we approached Jess, who was the night time clerk and she immediately gave us attitude as if this problem was our fault. Mind you, my husband had only had two drinks, I did have more, but we were very level-headed with her. She explained to us that she would have to call a handyman from Brunswick and had no idea how long it would take and wasn't even sure if we were able to get into our room that night. No apology, no sounding concerned because our children were trapped in a room asleep, no offering to comp our room, just attitude. We did not blame her for this problem, as it was the hotels fault, but the way that Jess handled this was terrible and it only got worse from here. After about 40 minutes of waiting in the lobby, my husband asked Jess for an update and she turned around and walked away from him saying she wasn't going to speak with him. My husband asked "do I need to call the police because you are not communicating with us on when we will get into our room? You are basically holding my children hostage at this point." She looked at him and in a snarky tone said "call the cops, it's your fault for leaving them in the room". He asked her if she was sure, this was a bad look for the hotel to not be able to problem solve and for the way we were being treated. She did not seem to care about that. Once my husband calmly called the police, they sent out two State Police Officers and a fire rescue squad who were prepared to bust the door down. Immediately, Jess lied to the police and said that my husband was screaming at her, cursing and threatening. The police officer approached us and we calmly explained to her that that was never the case, yes we had a few drinks, and he should watch the video footage of the front desk to solidify that we were not acting that way at all. He agreed with us and agreed that we were being treated unfairly and wasn't sure why. But, as concerned parents with their children locked in a room with no expedient solution, that we were completely justified in calling them. As we were sitting there in the lobby and my husband is speaking to the police officer, I was sitting a few feet away from Jess. Another worker approached her and they began speaking poorly about me and my husband, saying that we were belligerent and it was our fault that our children were locked in there because we stepped out for a few drinks. The cop assured us that we had done nothing illegal and that the hotel was at fault. We waited around for the handyman because the police said if this doesn't get opened by the staff in a timely manner, then he would have the fire department bust the door open. At about 11:15, the handyman finally showed up. It took him 30 minutes to work on the door. At this point I am visibly upset, the hotel staff was incredibly rude and unhelpful during this unnerving time. The hotel had no protocol in place for something like this to happen, it turns out that the entire door system had failed and needed to be replaced. Finally, after an entire spectacle was made at the hands of their employee, Jess, refusing to do her job and communicating or assuring us that we would in fact be able to get into our room with our children safely, we were in our room with our children. The icing on the cake was after we were finally in our room around midnight, Jess insisted to the cops that we be trespassed from the grounds. The cop physically laughed at her and said there was no way he was going to trespass us after what their staff had just put us through. Obviously, we were not going to stay an additional night after what we experienced. In the morning upon check out, the entire staff seemed to know what had happened and were definitely whispering as I returned the key. I told her that we were are not staying another night because we were treated unfairly and almost trespassed because of an irresponsibility of the hotel. The manager came out and offered no apologies, she asked what happened and I told her she needed to read the police report. I sensed attitude from her as well, again, no apologies, no reassurance that their staff would be handled properly, no offering to comp our room or even a portion of it. I do believe that this hotel has potential to be great, however, the staff needs to get it together and be prepared for emergencies without becoming snarky and rude. Unfortunately, we will never be returning to this hotel and we feel like we were completely wronged during the situation without any rectification.

My Favorite Beach Resort.
Pros:

I go here every Christmas for the past 5 years , love the beach side location of the hotel. Unlike many other beaches you find these beaches clean and often not even a footprint is seen so you feel like you’re exploring the beach for the first time. I walked the beaches from the hotel south to Glory Beach and Saint Andrew’s Beach on the end of the island and north to Corsair Beach , Great Dunes and then going back on the trail north to Driftwood Beach. If Driftwood Beach is one of your favorites then check out the ares along South Dunes and Glory Beaches where additional driftwood forests may be seen and are easier to access.

The Hampton staff went well beyond expectations to help us out!
Pros:

The slogan "Making You Happy Makes Us Happy" is on the floor mat as you enter the Hampton Inn at Jekyll Island, GA. That slogan became truth as we had to leave another hotel to find one with a handicap accessible room that met my husband's needs. He has ALS, has limited mobility, and uses a power chair to get around. The other hotel had a lovely handicap accessible room ,but the bed was only about 20 inches off of the floor. Though that is within the recommendations of ADA regulations, my husband was unable to get out of the bed. Though the handicap rooms at the Hampton also meet those recommendations, the staff offered to bring in a regular height bed. Many thanks to General Manager James Westenskow, along with staff member Carolyn and Chris, maintenance, for coming up with a solution that allowed us to stay at Jekyll for the weekend rather than to go back home. We are forever grateful for the kindnesses of the staff. The room and location were perfect, and we also enjoyed the service at the bar for snacks and drinks. Our almost disastrous trip was saved by a hotel staff that was willing to go the extra mile for us.

Great weekend getaway hotel
Pros:

Great location on Jekyll Island - close to the central village. Multi-use trail just outside front entrance. The hotel is clean and well kept. Staff was very friendly. We stayed in a King Suite and the room/bed was comfortable at night. Some reviewers note that there is no ocean view. Largely this is going to be true on the lower floors. Top floor - maybe. There is a sand dune w/ extensive trees between the hotel and beach. You DO have beach access -- it's a boardwalk out to beach. Not sure why some reviewers state no beach access, unless the boardwalk was under repair or otherwise closed. We enjoyed several walks on a very UN-crowded beach on a November weekend. We'd return to this Hampton Inn for another stay, for sure.

If want to be near ocean try another hotel.
Pros:

Location a little off beaten path. Rooms & staff were excellent. However, it claims rooms have ocean view. There is not one room in that entire hotel that has an ocean view. The balconies overlooked and over grown wooded area and trees are way too tall to see anything. Also, the walkway to the beach is very difficult with multiple sets of steps and a long way to get to the beach.

Healthy southern hospitality
Pros:

This stop was “merely” an overnight, a chance to stay near the ocean before heading on to Miami and a conference. But wow! This hotel represents Jekyll Island well. I’m already trying to figure out a week’s vacation next year.

Rooms are large and comfortable. They are not directly on the ocean. The short boardwalk puts you there in three minutes. Only complaint: Boardwalk has stairs at both ends, instead of a ramp. That limits people with disabilities or who must be in wheelchairs or walkers. I hope management reads this and adds ramps soon.

The people who work in the hotel put the “hospitable” in hospitality.

The day I was there, shuttle drivers were in short supply, so I ended up driving myself to Zachry’s for supper. Not a big deal. Just be aware that the *free* shuttle anywhere on the island runs on island time.

The ambiance lends itself well to good conversations with total strangers. In my book, that’s a strong positive.

Nice and clean
Pros:

Very nice hotel on the beach. Check in was a breeze. The lady who checked us in was so friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and a good size and a/c was easy to control. Nice balcony area that overlooked the pool. Note that there isn’t an ocean view due to foliage on the dunes but we knew that. Added plus that they have a cotton blanket in the closet. Breakfast was the usual HI breakfast.

Although we didn’t use the bar or pub food service it’s nice that they have it.

My only 2 complaints are
1- the cheap 1 ply toilet paper. It was bad!
2- the hassle of signing out and in a “beach/pool towel” at the front desk. Not sure why the super towel security because this pitiful excuse for a towel was smaller than the bath towels and so thin and scratchy that I wouldn’t use it to wash a car.

So yes, we would definitely return but will bring our own tp and beach towels!

Bigger than usual Hamptons, service a disapointment.
Pros:

The room was not too bad, but the service was very disappointing. The grounds and amenities were a lot broader than the average Hampton, with a much larger lobby and pool area. The proximity to the beach is a plus with a "bridge" walkway that takes you straight to the ocean. If it wasn't for the service, it would be a much better value for the money when it comes to a Hampton. Not so sure we will be back, most likely the service will be the reason we will not.

Do not stay here if you want beach access and friendly employees - they don’t offer that here. Find another place.
Pros:

My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary. I chose this hotel because it was affordable with beach access. That was a mistake. The boardwalk to the beach was closed on a perfectly beautiful day - no storms, no waves. The front desk had no sympathy, care or personality whatsoever. The kicker was when they broke into my room while I was still there. They said I had checked out and I hadn’t. Do not stay here if you want to experience the beach or southern hospitality!

Great place to stay
Pros:

Took my girlfriend to Jekyll Island for a date. We walked the shops, went on the dolphin tour and had dinner at the Warf Restaurant. While at dinner we decided we were having such a lovely time, we wanted to stay on Jekyll. I found and booked us a room last minute. We particularly wanted a place with a hot tub. I was able to find everything we were looking at The Hilton Inn On Jekyll Island. Everything was great! We are definitely coming back to stay again.

Pros:

Pet friendly yes, to the point where dogs were whiney. crying and barking next to ours. End up requesting room change. Desk staff, Heather said there's no other room available but 1st floor. Next door also had a barking dog.
Hotel should put pet owners in 1 section of the building.
