Nothing at all.

The staff were pleasant and the hotel was convenient for us. My room 19 was comfortable and quiet. The electric fan was appreciated as it was very hot.

Friendly staff, clean room, parking on site, central location, good value

Old hotel & quite tired but OK for a couple of nights.

I cannot believe that a national chain such as Marstons has the effrontery to rent out rooms on the state ours was in.

Stayed for one night on 10th July in room 10 (twin room) paying £100 which included breakfast and cancellation option.
Read the Tripadvisor reviews before booking and they weren’t too damning, many describing it as tired but adequate. Well unless we had the only awful room in the whole building I would say that is a huge understatement.
Here is a comprehensive list of all the room’s faults -
1. Door lock very insecure and chain damaged so unusable.
2. Water stains on the ceiling.
3. Cracks in the painted over wallpaper.
4. Grubby walls and black marks on the walls behind the pillows due to lack of headboards.
5. Dust and fluff in the open areas of the wall unit below the mirror.
6. A pedestal fan which made a big noise but didn’t even create enough draft to blow a piece of tissue.
7. Disgusting cracked and broken lino in the bathroom with filth down inside the area where the floorboards had become exposed.
8. Loose toilet seat which was the incorrect size for the pan.
9. Mismatched taps on the hand basin.
10. Silicone sealant which was either missing or stained with mould.

Moving onto the pub area itself which is also very grubby and tired but only used by us thankfully for breakfast (which was actually ok) it was noted that the carpet in the walk through to the self serve area was indescribably filthy reminding us of the carpets in night clubs of the 1970s , shiny and sticky with spilt drinks and other unspeakable substances.

To add insult to injury our room was on the front overlooking Dominos pizza which is open till 3am so we had groups of late night revellers constantly hanging around shouting and yelling till way past 3.30 am which was then followed by an articulated lorry pulling up and unloading delivery cages for an hour. We obviously had to have the window open due to the above 30 degree temperature in the room so no sleep for the whole of the night. There were also boy racers with loud exhausts using the road as a race track all night.

Take my advice don’t bother and just sleep in your car. Better still don’t go to Andover at all because it has nothing to recommend it in general.
