Breakfast was excellent. Location excellent for all the town amenities.
Bed was very comfortable.
Room was very quiet.
Breakfast was very good.
Staff were great.
Room was big with very good storage.
It is a very old building, but decor really needs updating. It felt a little neglected, but for the price point was acceptable.
We stayed 2 nights and it would have been nice to at least get the rubbish bins emptied.
Hotel advertised free car parking facility. On my arrival, the car park was full and the receptionist told me that I cannot park here. Which meant that I cannot use the facility the hotel has advertised, therefore I had to book a different hotel and request a refund for current booking. I was refused the refund. I am an elderly woman with heavy suitcases and equipment, including instruments for my business. Using the car park of the hotel was the absolute necessity for my stay which never happened.
I demand the full refund for my booking at this hotel immediately.
Too tired and outdated
Not up to standards
Lovely staff.
Convenient with parking
Building site next door, so parking a tad difficult.
Rooms could do with a spruce up and paint.
No hot water in evening nor any in morning.
But livable for 1 night.
The food is always good and the staff are really friendly and simply brilliant especially Sarah Smith and Drew the chef. I would highly recommend the food
Good location, staff all friendly.
Hotel very dated and in need of some refurbishment. Water had 2 settings. Freezing cold or scolding hot. Literally unusable shower and bath as water was scolding hot. Food was dreadful. Probably worst evening meal and breakfast I've had at a hotel.
Not a good place to stay. Dirty toilets. No hot water. Radiators not working
Bar was tatty and all the chairs were worn and dirty.
The staff were lovely
The food was overcooked. I could have used my fish for a sole on my shoe it was so hard.
The terrible smell of damp and rot as you walked down the corridor to my room was horrible, there was a huge cooking pot left under a skylight to catch water in the corridor, my room had a notice stating watch your step, in reality there was a step down as you entered the room which was bad, but then straight after a slope up into the room, i would not be surprised if people have been injured in the past. the shower made a terrible noise and the drain appeared to be partially blocked as water did not run away , the next day there was no hot water in the morning. The staff were friendly, but i get the imprssion they had heard all the complaints many times before.
Five-night business stay at the White Hart Hotel — and unfortunately a very poor experience throughout.
I had to change rooms after the first night due to multiple issues: no hot water, a non-working television, an extractor fan running continuously, and staff talking loudly outside from around 5am. The room itself was in a poor state, with stained carpets and dirty walls.
The second room was no better. The windows would not close properly, the radiator ran noisily all night yet produced little heat, taps were broken, the wardrobe was damaged, and there was visible mould on the curtains and netting.
Housekeeping did not attend the room at all during the week — I even had to request basic items such as toilet roll. Despite reporting the faulty radiator twice, no one came to address it.
Food was mediocre and more in line with café standard than hotel dining. The hotel also hosts frequent poker tournaments downstairs, which created a noisy atmosphere and detracted further from what should have been a professional business stay.
Overall, this was a highly disappointing experience. I would strongly advise others to consider alternative accommodation. Only stay here if everywhere else in the UK is unavailable.
Everything.
