The pool was closed at check in. We were told it will open at 5. When we came there at 5, we were told it will be closed for another hour for the chemicals to work. So done precious time was wasted and we could not use the pool that day as we had a restaurant reserved in town at 6:30. Rooms alarm started honking at 6am and woke everyone and it was a Saturday. Could not immediately figure how to turn it off and had to unplug it. Could not go back to sleep after that. No slippers in the room. Bad lighting in the bathroom. Overall hotel is overpriced and did not meet expectations. View from the rom was on the parking with a limited water view. And the check in did not revert to 3pm after COVID. Disappointed.
Hot honey chicken wings in Skiff Bar were fantastic.
Everything was ok until the Coffee shop incident. The older man was rude, short he,didn’t let me finish what I was going to say. So I started to record, but not in his face but the conversation and his rudeness. He refused to give me a refund and called over a manager who was just as rude and had to calm the old man down. The only nice person was the younger Marriott worker and other younger coffee shop worker. I was given a receipt of my refund by the Manager. But she lied and gave me a paid receipt from earlier. Called my bank and they refunded my account.
Όλα τέλεια ευχαριστούμε.
Θα ξαναπάω.
Όλα καλά.
My time at the Newport Marriott Hotel & Spa was truly wonderful. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel warmly welcomed, and their attentive care made the whole visit special.
Ted Wolfenden, the Voyager Rooms operations manager, stood out because he was very professional and kind. He ensured my room was perfectly arranged, seamlessly combining efficiency and a personal touch to create a truly unique experience.
I also want to mention Chef Audrey, whose breakfast offerings were delicious and thoughtfully prepared. Her passion for her work was clear, and she took the time to connect with guests, which added a lovely personal element.
With beautiful harbor views, a relaxing spa, and a dedicated team, this hotel offers a truly enjoyable Newport experience. I left feeling refreshed and grateful, already looking forward to my next visit.
I highly recommend this place to anyone planning a trip to Newport, and a sincere thank you to Ted and Chef Audrey for making my stay so special.
My partner and I got a day pass to the pool and sauna. The concierge was rude right from the start, a front desk worker, said there is a fee then he spelt out the word fee, I’m not sure if that was to attempt to make me feel less than or less educated but inexcusable none the less, the pool was freezing the entire day even
though multiple patrons made complaints. As a 5th ward newporter and someone who has either lived or frequented Newport my entire life I was appalled by the entire experience. For over $100.00 just for pool usage I expected much better.

Convenient location!
Location
Staff was rude. Restaurants bad. Valet caused me problems. Scam-like daily fees. Wouldn't go back.
The location was great. Very clean and staff very friendly, especially all those working the valet parking.
The extra 30 dollars a night for a destination fee was not expected. The fact that you had to use the money in the hotel, I believe was unfair. I believe that the customer should get that money back at the end.
We had a spectacular experience at the Newport Marriott Hotel & Spa. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel truly cared for—especially Ted at the front desk, who went above and beyond to make our brief stay after our wedding feel incredibly special.
The rooms were spotless, well maintained, and offered beautiful water views that made our stay even more memorable. We also enjoyed a couples massage at the spa and left feeling completely relaxed and rejuvenated.
An exceptional experience all around. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to unwind and celebrate such a meaningful moment.
My wife and I absolutely loved the place and would highly recommend it to one and all!
I do not like the Christian bible in the room - that offends me
I’m a Titanium member and have been a Marriott member since 1999…sadly this is the worst hotel room I’ve ever slept in…and stuck here for four more nights without any help from the front desk or management.
I’m traveling with my disabled father and in a handicapped room. We just had a lovely 5-night experience in a large handicapped room at the Sheraton Portsmouth New Hampshire and are sadly ending the next 5-nights here.
The room is so tiny my dad can barely use his walker to get to/from the bathroom. The bathroom door opens that it blocks the light switch to the bathroom, and prohibits the other person from leaving or opening the main door to the room. Not sure why they didn’t install a pocket door or barn door to allow more space in the room and easy for the disabled person to navigate.
The toilet is very low instead of the higher toilet for a real handicapped room. The bed is so low to the ground and soft we can barely get in and out of the bed. My dad needs my help every time to get up to go to the bathroom…which means I’m getting up whether I want to or not to help him in the middle of the night. The shower doesn’t come with the handicapped seat drilled to the wall, it’s a shower chair which isn’t very solid and again my dad needs my help because he’s afraid the chair is going to collapse. I’m not sure who was in charge of designing the handicapped rooms, but they did a terrible job. It seems the front desk and management are unable to help with any of this…and we are stuck here for 4 more nights, ie. Christmas Eve and Christmas are going to be miserable with crappy sleep and lots of aches and pains. Moral of the story…do not stay at this Newport hotel!
We just returned from an overnight stay at the Newport Marriott. We loved our time there. Hotel is conveniently located to Bowens Wharf and Thames Street and there is also the bus line nearby which we used to go to The Breakers. Onsite restaurant and bar are very good. Rooms are quiet, clean and comfortable. We would definitely stay there again!
Worst, most incompetent and unpleasant service I have ever experienced. A dreadful, depressing place to stay. Working here must be even worse. Stay anywhere else.
This hotel has done little to none to update their hotel. The one place we were all gathering by Skiffs after our relative’s wedding was beyond disappointment. Old ratty couches and dirty carpeting. I would think the area that everyone is going to see as they enter would be updated and clean.
Furthermore there is only have expensive valet parking and the “free” parking is use at your own risk as per the valet’s comments about homeless people living in the parking garage. When we walked back from our car, yes, there were vagrants and drug garbage in stairwell and even used vials on the ground outside of garage. You would think Marriott and police would address this. Just not acceptable. You want your guests to be safe.
This is by far one of the worst Marriotts we have stayed in. We were here for another wedding in 2023, same issues.
They just keep charging you top dollar for Super 8 accommodations.
Go elsewhere.
