The door banged through the whole night and kept us awake

Location and staff
Was not very clean. Pool was disgusting
The room was spacious, comfortable, and very neatly organized. The hotel location was great, 12 min ride from city attractions and not far from the train station. The hotel has a large parking area as well.
The only thing I would think the hotel could improve on is breakfast and the staff managing it. The breakfast was very basic, coffee was low quality as were fruit juices. There was a lack of fruits and bread assortment, not to mention there were no cheese or pie selection of any kind. The small selection of bagels and bread does not cut it for a hotel this size. The breakfast room arrangement was not great, there is no need for high and low tables and the staff supervising breakfast was not courteous nor helpful, and stood on the way. The hotel had a very nice patio where people could eat breakfast especially in the summer. The patio could also be accessed from the breakfast room but the door to it for some reason remained closed and you had to ask for it to be opened up.

Our second stay at the Holiday Inn Express Stony Brook – Long Island, in Centereach, NY, was a very positive experience. The hotel is updated and, most importantly the staff are truly committed to the highest level of hospitality. In particular, General Manager Denean Lane was extremely helpful to us both before and during our stay, honoring our loyalty to IHG as Diamond Elite members, and helping us choose the best accommodation at the hotel to meet our needs. Thank you, Ms. Lane for going out of your way to make sure that each stay feels like “our home away from home.” Moreover, her caring and professional leadership was evident in the kindness and consideration we received from two of her front desk staff in particular: Donna and Anthony. We extend our thanks to them as well. We are already looking forward to our next stay in a couple of months!
