Did not get the hold money back
super clean and quiet, abd breakfast was fantastic
needs rapainting in varios areas
The property was easy to access and the employees at the front desk were very polite during check-in. The breakfast buffet was exceptional.
There wasn’t much of a selection of dinner food choices at McKenna’s, especially for a family. I had to ask for pool towels at the front desk since none were available in the pool area and the in-room phone wouldn’t even call the front desk. There used to be a hot tub but was replaced with decking and potted plants.
Our stay was definitely a mixed bag.
First, because we were flying out early the next day, we booked the ‘stay and park’ rate at $144, which included up to 15 days of free parking, plus a shuttle to and from the airport. We were going to be gone for eight days, and long-term parking at the airport would have cost us about $110, so this was a no-brainer.
Check-in was quick and friendly (the gal at the desk, London, was lovely). We were told we could park anywhere we could find a spot. So far, so good.
As positive as all this sounds, the fact is this is a very old, convention hotel that’s seen better days. Elevators are clear on the other side of the giant atrium area, and then it’s a major walk to get to the section where the rooms are. Since we were flying to Lauderdale for a cruise, we had to schlep a bunch of luggage through the labyrinth of hallways. The room itself, while clean (for the most part), was in pretty bad condition. Only one of the outlets on the lamps worked, and the alarm clock with USB charging ports wasn’t even plugged in, and its power cord was missing…so it was useless. The caulk job in the bathroom looked like a two year old did it, and the tile and door frames were very beat up. The bed was clean and fairly comfortable.
The shuttle to the airport the next morning was interesting. First, the van didn’t have the name of the hotel on it, and the entire thing looked beat up and ready for the scrap heap. The interior was filthy. During the 10-minute ride to the airport, the thing sounded like it was going to fall apart. The driver was very nice, so there was no problem there.
When we arrived back in CVG after our trip, we went to the ground transportation area and waited for the hotel van to take us back to get our car. All the major hotel shuttles were there, but we didn’t see one that said it was from the Holiday Inn. We did see a van pull up, and a bunch of people got out, so I ran over and asked the guy if he was from the Holiday Inn, and he said he was. No sign on the side of the van or on the door, no sign in the window to say it was from the Holiday Inn…nothing. If I hadn’t asked the guy, we wouldn’t have known he was from our hotel, and he wouldn’t have known that we needed a ride. It was a different van than the one we took to the airport, but it was also in bad shape.
Normally I would say that paying $144 for a night at a hotel including parking is a bargain. However, next time I’ll check the pricing for other hotels near the airport; I’m willing to pay more for a nicer place.
The visit was a good experience and conveniently close to the CINN Northern Kentucky airport. I would higly recommend this hotel to others.
N/A
The hotel advertises shuttle delivery and pickup every 30 minutes. They were very late delivering us as well as picking us up from the airport. The shuttle condition is very poor as well. We watched other hotel shuttles come and go twice while we were sitting outside waiting at the airport.
Perfect for a quick overnight
My one and only complaint was the bed. I don’t think that I have ever slept on a harder bed. My sleep was awful.
The rooms were nice. Bed comfortable.
I didn't get to stay long enough.
