The hotel looks quite modern, but the rooms are very dated, although there is plenty of space and the bed was comfy.
We had dinner, which was fine, nothing very exciting. Breakfast was a take out and was fairly poor.
Daniel was the best bartender for our large study abroad group. He was very attentive, kind, and engaged with the group throughout our stay!
Such a great experience Daniel, is the best! One of the sweetest, talented and greatest bartenders! He made my trip 100% better!
Amazing experience! The bartender Daniel was great and created a warm and cozy environment for everyone!! Totally recommend visiting the bar
Daniel has been the best bartender i’ve met, he’s made personal connections with me and my colleges and we feel blessed to have sat in his bar! everyone should get a chance to go visit daniel
Daniel at the Bar La Palma was the best bartender I have ever had. He told inspiring stories, made amazing drinks, and was so kind to everyone he interacted with. He is genuinely a one of a kind person
Bar la Palma has my favorite bartender I have had. I am here for a trip and came to the bar every night and they were the nicest people with the best service. Drinks are super good and its a great to hangout with others at night!
Great service and experience at the hotel! Loved the Bar La Palma. Great drinks and great atmosphere. Would recommend to those visiting.
Bar la Palma has the best service I have ever experienced the bartender is amazing and helpful and the drinks are great prepared with alot of entusiasum and some great flavors definitely worth the visit
Hotel was very nice. Good and service was wonderful in both the main restaurant and the bar area. Rooms, especially bathrooms, could use updating.
We had a early flight so the price was good. the only issue is the noise. but with any hotel in a big city you will have noise.
Excelente ubicación del centro. Habitaciones limpias pero no modernas.
Comfy beds. Shower water barely lukewarm warm after running the water for 10 mins. Horrible breakfast. Nice staff! Close to tourist areas
The location is great. Some of the employees are very helpful and friendly. The receptionist who works in the morning was very helpful and very pleasant. The guy who works in the bar was very friendly and helpful. The same goes to the bellman working in the morning.
Stains on the floor, humidity and ac issues
The building is old, as are the bathroom, carpets and electrical connections. However, the staff is courteous and pleasant and the price was right.
Everything was grwat since the moment we got there. The staff was very friendly. Our room was great.
Barman Daniel was excellent. Introduced us to Costa Rican delicacy and made our visit feel special. Room was very nice but the pool is cold.
I found Daniel the bartender to be very pleasant and entertaining. He made us all kinds of drinks and the food was good at the bar. He was fun to be around. Also, Christian that work the morning shift in restaurant was very helpful in suggesting places to visit. The staff in general was pleasant.
But, I am annoyed that this hotel is part of Bonvoy group. I consider those hotel to be at a certain level. This hotel lobby was very nice, but when entering the room it is a different story. The rooms are damp and smell of mold. I think the carpets need to be removed. Also, the tub leaks and toilet was not working well. The lighting in room is dim. Housekeeping cleaned my room but never replaced my towels and calling front desk was a mess, no answer. I had to go down to the pool for towels. The pool need to be tended to often. Accidents can happen around the pool if it is not taken care of properly. But for the 2hours by the pool, I didnt see one worker there, and it was slippery around the pool.
Our best time is hanging out with Daniel the bartender.
I will start off by saying that this was an interesting stay for me. I stayed a total of 6 days. Hotel is located in the city atmosphere of San Jose and you can walk to a lot of stores and restaurants. You won’t be bothered at anytime. Single female and I felt safe. Check-in was seamless and quick.
I visited the bar in the hotel every night and Daniel was a delight: he was helpful with suggestions n what to see or visit.
He was so amazing with our group that came in the next day. Every night we visited the bar and we were def entertained. If you stay def make it a must stop for you.
Now for a review on the hotel/ rooms.
The rooms were a little dated. The tub looked liked it has not been cleaned in weeks.
Figured it was wear and tear. There was an incident that had me questioning my security of the hotel.l along with my safety. The day after I checked in. There is a knock at my door. I replied “ Yes ne second” In The time it took for me to walk from my bed to the door. It was being unlocked.
I was very surprised by this. Turns out it was a gentleman looking to show the room. He asked me, “ did you just check in?” I said, “ no I checked in the day before .” He apologized and left.
About hour and a half later another knock at my door. I did end up answering and it was a lady looking to show my room again.
To me that was disconcerting.
I mentioned it to the front desk. They said they would look into it.
I spoke to Alan the front desk manager he was not aware of of complaint.
But he was able to provide me information letting me know it was their hospitality staff and it was a miscommunication.
So before this information was given I wa beyond wary.
I have never experienced this traveling. The staff was helpful.
