It was unique in that it has been around for 5 centuries. The staff was VERY attentive and helpful with the area.
With that being said the rooms were old and needed updating, the bed was VERY hard and uncomfortable. We were expecting the room to have A/C but it had been turned off so we had to sleep with the window open. The shower was VERY small. The breakfast that was offered was very limited in the choices and quantity of food items. On the last day we discovered that the room had ants.
I had dinner here when traveling for the Air Force in the early seventies. Very good dinner. The waiter took the order for about 6 people and never wrote anything down. Can't say anything about the hotel as we were staying on Aviano AB. Hope to return some day.
Terrible experience in this worse than “old-fashion” hotel: poor/ lack of any maintenance in the rooms, dirtiness, showers impossible to use, mini-bar, what minibar!??, overcrowded parking-supposed, poor breakfast... and anticipated payment on arrival!! 95 euros per night!!?
A pure trick!
I have stayed here several times due to business. There is big difference between newer and older rooms, depending on which building you are assigned. Food is quite good in the restaurant, although a bit pricey for the area.
Gardens and overall environment of this old hotel is awesome!
Great Location. Old School doesn't begin to explain this place. Actual, physical keys that you leave at the front desk when you leave because they only have one.
A shower that I could not turn around in. Had to open the door, slide out, turn around, and get back in. The city doesn't turn on the A/C until May 1, so it was warm.
My friend said it best about the beds. "I have a sleep number bed in my room... but it's stuck on plywood setting."
If you're into some old world charm, this isn't a bad place. I would request one of the few suites they have, as they offer a lot more room. Some of it may be my expectations from American hotels, but everything was so small and cramped.
Don't write it off without checking it out, but do your homework and make sure you are OK with the trade-offs of creature comforts...Like WiFi. They have it, but it's not very good. Trying to work there was impossible.
I stayed at villa ottoboni just for One night but it was enough to realize that 4-star were definatly too much for this hotel. It s obsolescent, there is moquette on the floor and the bathroom has more than 50 years. Everything looks very old excepting for television. Also breakfast is very poor, with a bad quality. I think there are better places where sleeping at less money.
I stayed here a few nights with work, I really enjoyed my stay. The staff were exceptional and willing to help out in any way. Eduardo & Eros could not have been more helpful. No tea or coffee service in room but Eduardo always went out of his way to get me coffee.
The rooms are basic but clean and always warm. And always running hot water in shower, which was a bit on the small side.
You are within walking distance from beautiful cafe's and shops you are spoilt for choice. I really loved it here & if I was to go back on pleasure I would say in Villa Ottoboni .
Thanks Eduardo for the exceptional service you provided
Villa Ottoboni was the hotel to stay at in Pordenone. Probably glamorous and full of life. Sadly it have stayed that way without any major room upgrades or changes. Staff is pleasant but the rooms are small, the bathrooms are outdated and the breakfast buffe is nothing to write home about.
The wifi is poor at best if you manage to get a connection at all.
The location however is great and with plenty of resturants around.
The Hotel Villa Ottoboni is tucked in a quiet corner of Pordenone and yet s ideally located close to the downtown business district, the historic arts and restaurant scene and the train station. Antique furniture and historical art work create warmth to several sitting rooms in the huge lobby. Our room has a comfortable king sized bed, a work desk, a small refrigerator and a large luxurious bathtub. Wifi is adequate. Complimentary breakfast is served in its own elegant dining hall.
The staff were lovely and the room warm and spacious. Yes, the carpet was a bit jaded, as others have said. Breakfast was better than I've experienced before in Italy, with a cold selection of cereals, meat, cheese, a few rolls and bread. There was also a warm plate with scrambled eggs and bacon on weekdays (which I didn't try) and delicious croissants at the weekend. It's a shame that the older parts of the hotel seem disused, apart from the breakfast room. I'd definitely stay here again if visiting Pordenone, it's convenient for shops, restaurants and the station.
I m not sure if the price is very low compared to other hotels in this charming small city, but this hotel definetly needs some kind of renovation. The charme is truly and originally dating from 1970, so when you are interested in unfalsified 70ies settings....
The rooms are very clean, but somewhat small, the bathtub, where you have to shower, is dangerously leaning towards an obstructiom, the safe didn't work and the breakfast is, except the fresh coffee you can order, terrible! But, oh, but, the staff is really so attentive and friendly that,
Now I know all the disadvantages, I might came back next year!
Must admit I don’t travel a lot in this part of Italy for work and didn’t know where to combine my stay plus and important business meeting. Well Villa Ottoboni was indeed the right choice. Elegant, with an impeccable service. The garden, represented a pleasant variation to standard meeting rooms. Had a great time and for sure will return and I fully recommend.
I stayed at this hotel on and off for about 3 weeks. The rooms definitely could use some updating but the quality of the staff and awesome location make up for the weaknesses. It is not a 3 or 4 star by American Standards but not many European Hotels meet our expectations if they are affordable. You must keep an open mind and you will enjoy your trip!!
don't know where to begin. most of the staff is great and very helpful. but they can't help the fact this place is old and run down. several rooms the air conditoning is non existant. and many rooms have a tiny tiny shower stall. the rooms are so outdated and the beds are as hard as the floor. location is good but that is really the only positive.
Horrible accommodations. Rooms were disgusting and the carpet was so dingy looking that we didn't even want to walk on it with bare feet. The only two positive things about this hotel was the staff was very courteous and it was close to the shopping areas. Over priced...they should have paid us to stay there.
Being a veteran of uncountable youth hostels all around the world in my earlier days I have to say that this was the worst hotel experience I ever had!
We traveled with two small children and stayed for 1 night (originally planed were 2 nights). Our room as well as the bathroom and an small extra room with a sink (the purpose of which did not become entirely clear) was unbelievable dirty and had not been cleaned prior to our stay. Power plugs were hanging out of the wall and the whole room was smelly and dusty. The furniture was very old with multiple stains of very questionable heritage on the carpet and walls. The bathroom was a complete disaster - my wife was not able to use the bathroom during our stay. Unfortunately we were not able to change to a different hotel because there were absolutely no other hotel rooms availabe in town due to a big convention at that time. The breakfast was very basic and definitely not up to par to 4* standards. The only positive aspect was the reception personel which was very friendly although most of them did not understand a single word of english. We had friends staying at the same hotel and their room seemed to be ok.
In summary especially given the price of 130 Euro this experience was a total disaster and made us cut our trip short one day in order to avoid another night in this room.
This is a grand old dame which has had its rooms redone (stark 60's style) for business travelers. The rooms are functional if not a bit dated. Front desk service is exceptional (especially Cesare!) and the breakfast better than decent. No wi-fi but computer hook ups in the lobby. They were without a chef in the restaurant for some time but the restaurant is now reopened. It is reasonably close to the train/bus station and in downtown so convenient for business travelers. Good value for the money but definitely not luxurious. Parking is limited.
