Don't stay here during the summer. I like this hotel because the property itself is solid, but unfortunately the lack of climate control made it one of the least comfortable hotel stays I've had ever.
We understand that the DMV area is experiencing an extreme heat wave, but a hotel should still be able to provide a reasonably comfortable environment. Throughout the building, temperatures were extremely inconsistent, and there were fans running at the front desk which signaled the hvac system is underpowered to handle high temperatures. Our room was even worse. Only part of the room was reasonably cool. The bathroom was unbearably hot, honestly, it felt hotter than it was outside, which was around 105, shouldn’t break a sweat while brushing your teeth.
We contacted maintenance, hoping there was an issue with our room that could be fixed. After checking it, the technician essentially shrugged and said it was hot. While he may have been limited by the building's HVAC system, there was no real solution offered and no attempt to make the situation right. The front desk staff were professional and polite but the building simply cant handle high temperatures.
A comfortable room is one of the most basic expectations when booking a hotel, and unfortunately this property didn't deliver. The building was unreasonably impacted by the temperatures outside.
If the HVAC system is upgraded, I'd consider giving the hotel another chance. Until then, I'd have a hard time recommending it during the warmer months.
Cleanliness and nice esthetics.
I did not get the room I reserved due to them being over booked and also was not informed. I seen that I did not get the correct room once I got in the room after checking in. Disappointed. Also was charged for the water in the room that I did not drink.
Everything except we paid $328 for a room that we ended up not staying in longer than 4hours because the AC barely worked. Can’t sleep when it’s hot we checked in at 7pm left by 11pm.

Courteous front desk staff but had issues with new computer system ??room was clean. And Room size good although Very little draw space. Had to live out of suitcase for 5 days. Thermostat controls worked but fan stayed on when in off position.. a little noisy. Front desk follow up lacking at times. soap dispenser missing in bathroom , slow to provide some bars. Had a sign of forgot it ,we got you in bathroom. When asked for things, front desk didn't have ready access. Was suppose to bring up but never did. Water station at front desk a plus. Disappointing that there was no complimentary coffee station in lobby as well. At checkout , received receipt but it was for WRONG room number and had another guest name, address and hilton honors number ( same siler status as me). Didn't notice till at next destination. DISAPPOINTING that other guest's room rate was a third LESS than ours . Elevators were slow and appeared that housekeeping / staff elevator was broken. Convenient to resteraunts and stores.
Nice hotel, a little stuffy maybe for what it is. Rooftop pool rocks. Breakfast is so so, more like a Holiday Inn Express than The Thompson. Adjacent hotel to the North is a hangout for interesting people.

I truly enjoyed my experience at the hotel. The hospitality and customer service were exceptional from start to finish. A special thank you to Ms. Roselle and Ms. Rosa, who went above and beyond to make guests feel at home. Their warm personalities, professionalism, and genuine care created a welcoming atmosphere and made my stay even more enjoyable. They also provided excellent recommendations for the Bethesda area and helped make my time away from home feel comfortable and meaningful while attending the International Fatherhood Conference 2026. They are truly a light within the hotel, and I am deeply grateful for the outstanding service they provided. I look forward to staying here again in the future.

MY RESERVATION WAS NOT HONORED AND
WE HAD TO WAIT MORE THAN AN HOUR TO GET SENT TO AN BEST WESTERN 25 MINUTES AWAY. We had a confirmed reservation given away to someone else ! Who does that? Best Western had breakfast buffet. You had nothing at breakfast
The staff was professional and friendly. Facilities were very clean and comfortable.Breakfast had a lot of choices. Location is convenient, and parking is in the basement.
The friendly staff, the decor was lovely, very clean and very quiet in hallways and rooms. No rowdy guests!
